Galata Place is one of Istanbul Place Apartments' sensitive restoration projects. It's on the second floor - two flights of original marble stairs with a lift that partially helps - of an elegant 19th century building very near to Galata Tower. A few floors up on the roof-top, the shared terrace has gorgeous views across Golden Horn to the Old City.
The apartment building is only 3 minutes walk from Sishane metro station, 5 minutes walk to Tünel funicular and a short downhill walk to connect with the tram for Sultanahmet. Famous Istiklal Avenue is less than 5 minutes walk up the hill.
The bedrooms are stylish: one double and one twin, each with high quality crisp white linens. The double bedroom has a chic velvet headboard and both are at the rear of the building, so quiet at night. The huge living and dining room has two sofas plus a dining table in the bay window area, overlooking the street below. From these windows there are views of Galata Tower to one side, beautifully lit at night, and a little bit of the Bosphorus in the opposite direction. The contemporary, chic kitchen is large with a stylish breakfast table and high-end appliances including dish-washer. The huge family bathroom has a bath with shower over and there is a small second loo.
This apartment is a spacious 120 m2 in total, bright and airy with lovely high ceilings and a serene atmosphere. The large windows and panelled double doors are all elegant originals and the floors are exposed original wooden floorboards with rugs. The living room has ceiling frescoes in restful blue-green colours which are echoed in the furnishings throughout. The bedrooms comfortably accommodate four people and a fifth/child on the sofa-bed in the living room is possible.
Guests will have the complete privacy of the entire apartment.
Galata has a genuine, very welcoming and diverse community with an intriguing mix of cafes, restaurants, small grocery shops and artistic boutiques. Elegant 19th Century buildings line cobbled streets, with discoveries waiting around every corner. No matter where you wander, you’ll always find your way back to Galata Tower, which has been a well-loved landmark for the last 700 years.
Metro, bus, tram and ferry stops are all only a few minutes walk away. The famous Istiklal Avenue is around 5 minutes stroll. You can be in Sultanahmet (for the big sights of Ayasofya, Topkapı, Blue Mosque etc.) in about 12 minutes by public transport or 20 minutes on foot. In the other direction, by Metro, you can be in Şişli (for Istanbul’s biggest shopping mall) in 10 minutes or Levent (for Istanbul’s business district) in 15 minutes.
There are many taxi ranks around and some secure car parks too.

I spent a full month in the Galata apartment, half of the time on my own and the other half with my family: my wife and my two children, and we all felt very happy to have selected this place for our stay in Istanbul.
The two bedrooms apartment is a very comfortable one and it is ideally situated, next to the Galata Tower and very close to the rapidly gentrifying Karakoy area, where nowadays you find some of the town´s best restaurants and cafes. The apartment is a lovely one, very large and full of character; its social area (the kitchen, salon etc) is well separated from the private rooms, which make the stay for a group of 4-5 people very agreeable and convenient.
I would not hesitate to rent this apartment again should I visit Istanbul again, as I would probably do soon.
We understand the importance of location and this is why all of our apartments apartments are in Galata.
With its genuine, very welcoming community and intriguing mix of cafes, restaurants, small grocery shops and artistic boutiques, we think it’s the most interesting part of Istanbul.
