Bedrooms 4
Space 1,600 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Perfect getaway for sun worshipper or Ski enthusiast!

Spacious lake front property on one of western Washington's most beautiful lakes. Situated on 1.3acres of woodland with its own 100ft private lake front, with dock for boat moorage, our cottage has all the amenities you could ask for to have the perfect time away from the busy lives we all lead. The set up is adaptable for a family with children or couples who are looking for a break by the lake.

There is generous living indoors and out, with inside dining for 8, and an additional 6-8 person dining table out on the deck overlooking the lake. There is plenty of dinnerware for both. The kitchen is fully equipped, with the addition of the ubiquitous barbeque grill outside, and if needed a propane patio heater.

The lounge includes generous seating for watching movies on the wall mounted, flat panel tv. Chose from our wide selection of dvds or VHS tapes. Or if you prefer, listen to music from mp3 docking station or cds. Save the fridge for food, there is a separate wine fridge. Relax on either the large deck overlooking the lake or in the lounge on one of the comfortable sofas or chairs.

The main floor also has the master bedroom (kingsize bed), with the main bathroom; the remaining 3 bedrooms and 2nd full bathroom are on the lower level. There is a queen size bed, and two sets of twin beds, with a second tv and dvd/vcr in the larger twin to save arguing with the children!

At the beach there are 8 lawn chairs, and several loungers at your disposal and another fridge in the beach hut for the perfect way to while away the hours lakeside. Make full use of the two kayaks, or swim out to the dock just off shore and sunbathe to your heart's content. If you have a boat, bring it along and tie up to the new floating dock. There is also a brick fire pit and ample wood pile, to finish off a perfect day making s'mores with your favourite tipple.

If winter sports are more your bag then use the cabin as a base and drive the 45-60 minutes to Mount Baker, ski or ride all day then come back to dinner at the lake and sit around the fire at the lake rein acting the day's adventures and near misses! Awake relaxed and ready for another day on the slopes.

About Janice Hunt

My husband I met in England when I was a flight attendant for Canada 3000 and married soon afterwards. We lived in the UK for 3 years and have now settled back in Vancouver, BC with our daughter and son. We love travelling and prefer to stay in rental homes which is why we have decided to share our lakeside home with you.

Janice Hunt purchased this house in 1974

Why Janice Hunt chose Bellingham

Built by my father in the 70s my husband and I have spent the last few summers completely modernising it to what you see today. I spent my summers here growing up, and now that we have a children of our own, we use the place as our lakeside getaway from the noise and lights of Vancouver.

What makes this house unique

Our favourite thing to do is to end the day with a glass of wine and friends on the deck gazing out to the lake.

Wonderful Home Away from Home!

  • 5 of 5

We were a couple with a 4 year old child, grandparents and an auntie. We stayed three nights from September 21 to 24. Janice is very easy to communicate with. She is quick to respond via email or via phone. She was very nice to accommodate us for an earlier check in and a later check out time.

The view from the house is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! We enjoyed watching sunsets, stars and birds from the huge window from the kitchen/dining and living room area.

The house has an access to a private beach and the beach hunt is equipped with everything you need to enjoy the water; two kayaks, life jackets, a fire pit, lawn chairs, fire woods, etc...

The house is located almost at the end of the north side of the lake so traffic is very quiet and we had no problem crossing streets to get to the beach.

We tried the recommended hike (Hertz Trail) in the Lake Whatcom Park. It was a very easy flat hike along the lake with some great views. With a 4 year old, we only went in a mile and returned.

Since we already had some plans in the town (Bellingham), we did not had a chance to go to the nearby restaurant called, The Fork at Agate Bay but that would have been fun to try. They had excellent reviews on the Yelp.

Janice has a quite collection of movies!! She also has a lot of board games. There were also many kids toys perfect for my son's age.

We'd stay here again! Thanks, Janice!

If you wish to have a fantastic reunion that your family will talk about for years to come then rent this fantastic home like we did! The home is spacious and very comfortable, the views from the deck are amazing and the variety of toys - from the board games to the kayaks - are outstanding. Best reunion we have had and we will definitely come back!

This home lacked nothing! The owners were easy to deal with, and the house is set up perfectly for a lake vacation. We would definitely rent this place again.

Lovely Cottage

  • 4 of 5

Very comfortable and convenient; obviously well-used and loved by the owners. There is a road between the cottage and the lakeshore, but this was a non-issue as it is a very quiet road.
