Sunny beach cottage, half block from the sandy beaches of Lake Michigan, 40 miles to Chicago. 3 bedroom 1 1/2 bath plus outdoor shower. Lovely front porch perfect for summertime people watching.
Growing pains forced us to move from this house but we stayed here in Miller Beach because we love it so much.
Bryan Woodruff purchased this house in 2003
This is a sunny, adorable cottage perfect for your beach vacation. After spending a day in the sun, rinse the sand off in our outdoor shower. Chicago is less than an hour away for those who like a break from the beach or an evening out in a world-class city.
A half block walk to the beach. Easy highway access. Close to South Shore Train to Chicago.
LOVE MILLER BEACH! Spent the first 20 yrs of my life there. Raised my 3 kids every summer on its shores. Now that my mom no longer lives in Miller, we rent. Very comfortable home, so close to the beach! Awesome, cozy bed when exhausted from sun, sand & fun!! Will book for a longer period in the future! GREAT landlord!
Loved the variety of colors in the different rooms. Worked great for our family of 6. Kids enjoyed the air hockey table. WiFi and cable channels didn't work the best but when you ate taking a vacation that close to the beach to shouldn't need those anyway! Love the SHORT walk to the nice beach. Would definitely stay here again!
30 plus years had passed since some of my high school friends and I got together. I live in Minnesota and they are still in Ohio so this location was a reasonable half way point for our group. The house really worked well for our needs. It was close to the beach, had everything we needed to cook, sleep, play at the beach and shower. House was clean and the neighborhood was extremely safe. Excellent customer service by the owners. They accommodated our early check-in needs and refilled the propane tank to the grill. The house rule book indicated a small grocery store a short walk away - we walked only to find the store was closed for business. No worries though because the grocery store 5 miles away provided everything we needed. Ordered pizza from the Flamingo the first night and service/food was good too. We were able to use the boogie boards and beach chairs during our stay which was very nice. Our group did not have one bad experience in working with the owners to rent or during our stay. The only thing I would note to future renters is to keep in mind that this is a residential home that has been lived in and not a hotel. Again, the accommodations were perfect and we would reserve again in the future. I cannot thank the owners enough for opening this house as a rental property so groups like ours have the opportunity to gather and enjoy a beautiful beach as a very reasonable price.
The owner was local and very responsive to any questions or concerns. The house was very clean upon arrival. Although generally dated, the kitchen was updated with a dishwasher and a well equipped utensil drawer. All essentials were provided throughout the house. The beach is readily accessible and the neighborhood was nice. Our upstairs bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning and heat were needed during our stay and both worked well. The Wifi worked sporadically and it was necessary to re-start at one point.
We had a fabulous stay in this wonderful house almost on the waters of Lake Michigan. The front porch is amazing and we enjoyed lots of time drinking coffee and relaxing there. The house is clean, plenty of paper products, a washer & dryer, microwave - all the conveniences of home. There is a tv but no cable so we used the wifi to access our own netflix subscription for plenty of movies and shows. I would recommend those with small children be aware the steps are quite steep leading up to the top floor. I would have felt much better if there had been a baby gate to use on this stairwell. Our solution was to barricade the dinning room doorway which prevented their access to the top floor and those stairs. Had I known I would have brought my own baby gate just to alleviate my worries.
We had a great stay, the owner was super easy to work with and available by text/phone during the week of our stay. We are already discussing a return trip.
We had a girls reunion weekend at this lovely home, and enjoyed every moment. Just seconds to walk to the beach, and a few short minutes to the dunes / state park. We enjoyed walks (and runs!) along the beach, and explored many hiking trails along the dunes/ Lake Michigan.
The house was well stocked with paper products, and the kitchen offered a spacious and clean area for cooking and enjoying many meals together. The evenings were perfect for relaxing in the living room, and enjoying the view. The internet worked flawlessly.
Certainly the house is not fully updated, but we found it clean, comfortable, and enjoyed the quirkiness.
The owner was very responsive/prompt in answering all of our questions prior to the trip. Thank you!!!
