Tom and Lisa Smith will be your hosts for your stay. We are life time residents of the Adirondack Mountains and moved to Jay in 2005 after having lived in Lake Placid, the Olympic village all of our lives. Tom is a retired teacher of 31 years and Lisa has pursued her passions of gardening, writing, sewing and raising their 3, now adult, children.
Lisa Smith purchased this house in 2005
When Tom and Lisa sold their home in Lake Placid and went on a search for the new spot it was love at first 'site'. We knew we wanted to build a log home and we knew we wanted peaceful, gentle living with mountain views. This was the first property we saw and we knew it was it! It had everything we were looking for and it has proven to be perfect in every way! The grounds are perfect for Lisa's many gardens and have recently become the grounds for a wine vineyard, under the supervision of our oldest son who is a sommelier' The property has been fun to make ours! You will enjoy the beauty that we have created in this spot!!
The Eagle's Nest is a cozy, inviting place for you to rest. The views out of the windows will calm your very core. There is a covered Farmer's porch for you to sit on and enjoy a meal or your morning coffee. The kitchen is well equipped and in the winter months you will warm yourself by a propane fired soapstone stove in the living area. In season,a small fireplace area is outside for your evening roasting of marshmallows or just enjoying the stars and the evening air.
Chalet well located, quiet, spacious and very nice owner. The only negative comment is the quality of the mattresses of the master bedroom.
We will come back to Lake placid!
This is a very nice property with everything you need! We enjoyed our stay there!
My family had such a great stay at this place over New Years. It's in a great central location- about 15-20 minutes from all the important spots- Lake Placid, Keene Valley, Whiteface mountain, etc. But it's also removed just enough from those places to feel a bit more quiet and secluded. The place itself has plenty of open space for hanging out, and it feels very clean and new. The owners are very lovely people- so much so that when our cable box seemed to be acting up one night, they made the ultimate sacrifice and gave us their working cable box from downstairs! We really hope to stay here again in the future.
Eagle's Nest is the perfect ADK vacation home. The owners are gracious hosts, the home is beautiful and in great condition with all the amenities you need. Very well equipped kitchen makes feeding a family easy. The views from the front porch are great and the proximity to Whiteface Mountain makes this the perfect winter ski getaway! Can't wait to come back!
My family had a wonderful stay at Lisa and Tom’s home. There were five adults and two young children in our party and the home was large enough to easily accommodate us all. We love the location in Jay, NY which was remote enough for relaxation but only a short 20 min drive to Lake Placid and hiking trails which we did take advantage of. The home has modern appliances in the kitchen and nice washer and dryer for clothes. We would recommend this VRBO home to any family wanting to enjoy a relaxing getaway.
My friends and I stayed several days at the Jay home just in time to see the fall foliage. We absolutely loved our hosts and the house was PERFECT. It had absolutely everything we needed and more. We all agreed how kind our hosts were and how terrific the house truly was. We would definitely return. (Also, if you are a hiker, explore Jay Mountain (one of my fav. hikes in ADK) and the surrounding trails. Even though the Jay Mountain Area is not in the peaks region, the trails are still fantastic with amazing views.)
