The owners were married in the village of Mendocino in 1976, and they fell in love with this home when it was known as Annie's Jughandle Beach Bed and Breakfast Inn. They bought the house in July 2011 and absolutely love coming here with family and friends.
Rose purchased this house in 2011
Seeing this home was love at first sight for the owners, who had searched the Mendocino area for years. Their love of history and the comforting appeal of the house immediately caught their attention when they saw that it was for sale. They lived in Ft. Bragg years ago and have always wanted to return to the area.
The couple love the Mendocino coast, and have come here for years on their wedding anniversary to commemorate their marriage in the village of Mendocino.
The spectacular ocean views, the quiet yet unassuming elegance of the home, the tranquil setting and lovely gardens, large front deck with ocean views, patios, the lovely and comfortable interiors, the spacious kitchen, living room and dining room, and every bedroom with a private bath, plus whirlpool tubs and fireplaces, make this an irresistible home.
This home is perfect for families looking for a relaxing vacation, and every bedroom has it's own bathroom! The kitchen is perfectly appointed, so cooking family meals are very easy to prepare. Close to Fort Bragg's charming downtown with a terrific Italian restaurant serving great food, and a beach filled with sea glass which is amazing to explore. Also a quick ride to the charming town of Mendocino with state parks that overlook the Pacific bluffs. On our December trip we watched whales, and enjoyed the sounds of crashing waves while we walked the paths that led around the park. The sun rises and sunsets were picture perfect and the paths leading from the house to the beach cliffs were fun to explore. The owner Rose was a pleasure to work with, and her home a unique and wonderful place.
We chose this home to conveniently house several of our family and friends for our daughter's wedding at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens and the wedding reception at the Caspar Community Center. The house worked out perfectly, and our communication with the hosts was always prompt, cheerful, and helpful. This vintage home, built in the late 1800's, was a B&B once. Consequently, it has a (modern and updated) bathroom for EVERY bedroom, which is a great feature for privacy and flexibility!
The house was comfortable, with plush sofas, a big dining room table, and comfy beds set in elegant bedrooms. Though the house is old, it is well-kept and the kitchen is renovated and modern, with granite counter tops and an extremely well stocked array of dishes and cooking implements. There is a gas fireplace in the living room, which helps heat up the cool mornings, and the fireplace can be set by a thermostat to keep the downstairs warm during the night. Although the coast is cool at night, the upstairs was comfortably warm during our stay. There is plenty of off-street parking (we had three cars there for the duration).
The owner has left many vintage items in the home, which is a gracious touch and helps to maintain the historic atmosphere. Be aware that three of the bedrooms are on the upper floor, so that may be a consideration for some guests.
There is hiking and beach access across the highway, and my wife and I did squeeze in a 90 minute hike on the day after the wedding.
We had no major problems to speak of - and the owners initiated an e-mail conversation with us soon after we arrived just to make sure that we were OK.
We like old homes, and live in one about the same age, so this was kind of like being at home while away from home for us! With four of us in the home, we were nowhere close to the available sleeping capacity. This would be wonderful for a large or extended family needing a place to spread out, some privacy, and convenience to both Fort Bragg and Mendocino.
The Curvaceous Bodacious Babes (a Red Hat Society Chapter from Redding) thoroughly enjoyed our 5-day stay at The Blue Pacific. Bedrooms with their own bathrooms was a treat and worked out well for a group of older gals. The fireplace in the parlor made evenings cozy for gathering at the end of the day. Sitting at breakfast watching the fishing boats and swooping gulls started our days on a perfect note. Location of house is perfect for going north or south to shops, beaches and restaurants. Suggest a few more towels and toilet paper. A great place to "unplug" and enjoy family members or friends.
Comfy. Big enough for our group. Only downside was no cell service at all in the house.
We rented this home for our annual family vacation & we absolutely loved it! The kitchen was well stocked for our cooking needs, plenty of seating for everyone, and each bedroom had is own bathroom. The house is minutes away from the noyo harbor & jughandle beach! 5 stars in our book & we'll be back :)
This house was amazing!!! We went with 3 other couples, and each room was awesome!!! We each had our own bathroom which we loved. Everything was clean and tidy. The walk to the beach was short and the owner, Rose, was very sweet and super accommodating. We will definitely be back.
