Overview

About the property

Beautifully restored 3-bed villa with large private garden. Shared 20 metre pool

The Barn at Bagnaie is a luxury 3-bedroom Tuscan villa, which we have modernised and furnished to a high standard.

The interior mixes traditional materials with Italian modern design. The large living room features an open log fireplace, original terracotta tiles and wooden doors leading out onto the south terrace and gardens. There is a separate kitchen/dining area fitted with marble worktops and equiped with all the utensils a serious food lover needs to be able to enjoy local market produce and Le Bagnaie's kitchen garden. There are also double doors from the kitchen leading out to the terrace and the vine-covered pergola. The villa's private landscaped garden - rich with cherry, pomegranate and fig trees and with a built-in BBQ - surrounds the property and enjoys 360-degree views of the countryside, including the distant Duomo of Siena to the south and the towers of San Gimignano to the west.

Our villa sits in the small hamlet of Bagnaie, where we share our hilltop with 7 other houses. We have a full time gardener who maintains the extensive gardens and grounds as well as the shared 20m pool, which is solar heated. There is also a tennis court can be used all year round and a boules pitch.

We have a local property manager (English and Italian speaking) who will be available during your stay to assist you where necessary.

We can arrange for meals to be cooked at the house for you if wanted by local chefs.

Beautiful Tuscan Stay

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely loved our stay at The Barn. Only slight downfall was the shared pool as we went over a very popular period of time so there were a lot of children but apart from that it was lovely. The Barn itself was beautiful and comfortable - incredible sunset views. We had Serena for 3 nights which is an ABSOLUTE must. She was amazing. Unbelievable food and so so friendly. The town of Castellina is lovely as well.

AMAZING views and the pool was our favorite place to unwind from the day:)

  • 5 of 5

We stayed July 15-22 and had an unbelievable experience. The barn was such a treat to stay in for our first trip to Tuscany! My husband and I kept pinching ourselves because the views from the private patio area were better than we would have ever imagined. The pictures on the website are great, but to see it in person is indescribable. We really didn't stay in the house much with all of the travel throughout the day to the awesome cities in the area, but when we were at the house, we spent most of our time at the community pool which is HUGE! And clean and not crowded at all. The pool may have the best view of the entire place. Hint: There is a "secret" patio beneath the pool veranda that also has a fantastic view looking out at San Gimangano on a clear evening.

We would definitely stay here again if we booked the trip all over again!

The real Tuscan experience!

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 couples staying at the barn for 1 week beginning of August. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking! The pool is huge and amazing. The decor of the barn is true to its origins. The only downside is no AC in bedrooms and it was a bit warm to sleep but all the rest is perfect! By the way, you must all book Serena (the amazing cook) for at least a couple of nights during your stay. Her Tiramisu is the best we have ever experienced! She has beaten all Italian chefs in a contest 3 years in a row!! The experience is better than you could ever imagine. The dirt road to get there is quite an adventure but you will be more than rewarded when you get there!

The authentic Tuscan experience!

Blissful setting

  • 5 of 5

Ditto what others have said. We rented a car but were always debating whether to visit another hill town or just relax and enjoy our "villa time". It's a special place. Don't miss this chance for a charming experience in Chianti!

The Best of Tuscany!

  • 5 of 5

When we made our reservation for a week at The Barn we thought it looked like a really great place. When we drove throught the gates we realized we were way off base - it was spectacular!

The accomodations were superb and the views were amazing. There were 4 adults in our party but we would have been comfortable with 6. The support staff was very accomodating even down to the gardners. We basically had the whole complex to ourselves for our entire stay, which probably wouldn't be the case in the summer months.

The property is very accessible to towns and villages for day trips and there are miles of "white" roads (gravel) for hiking. The fireplace also came in handy several of the nights of our stay.

We read reviews and saw that others had recommended Serena to come in and cook meals. Well, we booked her for our first night and ended up using her 3 nights. All of the meals were terrific and she is a wonderful person to be around. We highly recommend her.

I cannot think of a better place to stay for a trip to Tuscany.

Dreaming of The Barn at Bagnaie

  • 5 of 5

My family (2 adults, 2 children) spent four days at The Barn, our home base during our stay in Tuscany, and we loved it! The hamlet is stunning as it is perched on a hilltop surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. In the garden, you can stand in one spot and see the tower of Siena on the left and the unique skyline of San Gimignano on the right - a perfect location from which to explore the Chianti region. During the day, we visited other cities along the Chianti Road but always looked forward to coming back to The Barn to enjoy the classic Tuscan sunsets, go for a swim in the luxurious pool, and await Serena's creations for dinner. Serena came to make us Easter dinner and we invited her back for our final night. She is an amazing chef who uses local ingredients and the herbs from the garden to create four-course meals that were the best we had all trip. Corin, thank you for sharing The Barn with us. We look forward to returning again in the future!

Wonderful combination of rolling hills with scattered old tuscan style farm houses. Everywhere are rows of vines sometimes interspersed with olive tree groves and in spring with bright yellow sun flowers waving in the sunshine.

Less than 30 minutes from the house one can be in the centre of the beautiful old city of Siena. Here it is possible to explore or just unwind and dine.
