The Barn at Bagnaie is a luxury 3-bedroom Tuscan villa, which we have modernised and furnished to a high standard.
The interior mixes traditional materials with Italian modern design. The large living room features an open log fireplace, original terracotta tiles and wooden doors leading out onto the south terrace and gardens. There is a separate kitchen/dining area fitted with marble worktops and equiped with all the utensils a serious food lover needs to be able to enjoy local market produce and Le Bagnaie's kitchen garden. There are also double doors from the kitchen leading out to the terrace and the vine-covered pergola. The villa's private landscaped garden - rich with cherry, pomegranate and fig trees and with a built-in BBQ - surrounds the property and enjoys 360-degree views of the countryside, including the distant Duomo of Siena to the south and the towers of San Gimignano to the west.
Our villa sits in the small hamlet of Bagnaie, where we share our hilltop with 7 other houses. We have a full time gardener who maintains the extensive gardens and grounds as well as the shared 20m pool, which is solar heated. There is also a tennis court can be used all year round and a boules pitch.
We have a local property manager (English and Italian speaking) who will be available during your stay to assist you where necessary.
We can arrange for meals to be cooked at the house for you if wanted by local chefs.
This was a trip of a lifetime. The spectacular views, the rustic Barn, the food, the wine, the people, and of course Serena made it unforgettable. We hope to make the visit to Tuscany and The Barn a new Thanksgiving tradition.
The property was exactly as described on the website and viewed in the pictures. It was very clean and well maintained. The house had everything you needed from pots and pans to umbrellas, espresso maker, tea kettle, spices even sporting equipment. There's even thyme and rosemary growing around the property.
I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to make unforgettable memories with friends and family.
Oh, one more plus, each bedroom has its own bathroom!
Our party of five friends could not have been happier with this beautiful Tuscan villa!
The three bedrooms (and beds) were all very comfortable and the bathrooms wonderfully done.
The kitchen had everything and more that one could want and was impeccably designed.
Serena prepared a wonderful feast for us on our first night.
She is an artist and a joy.
We visited many hill towns during our stay which was easy due to the perfect location but never found views any more spectacular than those from the patio at sunset.
The pictures, while beautiful cannot do justice to this intoxicating place!
The landscaping is wonderfully done and very well maintained while still providing a natural feel..
The welcome note and bottle of wine from Corin were much appreciated and Jackie was always available as well as stopping by a couple of times during our stay.
We enjoyed the pool and especially the peace after the hubbub of Rome and Florence.
We would not hesitate to return to this gorgeous property!
Corin, you are a very lucky and generous person!
My wide and I plus our two adult children and their significant others (6 total adults) spent a week at the Barn. The property, house, gardens, pool area and especially the view far exceeded our expectations. Truly, the pictures on the web site do not do the property justice. About a 1/2 mile off the main road up a dirt road (like many in Tuscany farm land), high atop one of the hills near Castellina is the hamlet of Le Bagnaie, made up of 8 separate fully remodeled homes, the Barn being one. All share the pool area, however during our stay we seldom shared the pool which is very large and immaculate. The Barn, as it's name implies is basically an old large stone barn that has been fully converted into an old style Italian farm house. Three bedrooms each with a full bath. Large kitchen with all appliances, pots, etc to cook for any size gathering. Overall, we were very impressed.
Our family had a wonderful stay. There were seven of us in total and the house had plenty of room. Property is well maintained with a gorgeous view. The kids enjoyed the pool and the small kids pool was perfect for our 2 year old. Location is great for taking day trips into the surrounding cities like Siena, Pisa, and Florence but you will need a car. We enjoyed the small towns in Chianti and their weekly markets. The kids liked picking fresh vegetables out of the garden and Serena cooked for us an authentic Italian meal on 2 separate nights. They were by far the best meals we had in Italy! Jacky, the property manager is delightful and was attentive and responsive to the needs that arose during our stay. Overall, it was a good experience and even though there are other houses near we still felt like there was enough privacy.
We hired the Barn at Bagnaie to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday and it was nothing short of excellent.
We had 8 month old twins in our party and Jacky (the site manager) went out of her way to ensure there were cots and high chairs available.
The barn itself is perfectly appointed and, unlike many holiday rentals, has a kitchen fully-stocked will all the necessary equipment to properly self-cater. We would also highly recommend booking Serena (the cook) for at least one night during your stay. She turns up with all the ingredients for a delicious Tuscan meal, cooks, serves and does all the washing up! We also took advantage of a cooking lesson with Serena one night which was great fun too!
The barn is about a 20 minute drive from Sienna which makes for an excellent day trip and about 10 minutes from the town of Castelllina in Chianti which is perfect for food shopping or a meal out.
The site itself is perfectly maintained and the grounds are absolutely stunning, complete with breathtaking views over the Tuscan countryside.
We really can't recommend the barn enough and will definitely be finding an excuse to visit again in the very near future!
We loved our stay at this converted barn - from the glorious views of the vineyard-strewn Tuscan countryside (absolutely picture-perfect) to the amenities inside the accommodation, which housed everything we could have wished for. Plenty of cooking utensils, a spacious living and dining area, comfy beds, a great shower and heaps of character. Plus the huge terrace is perfect for alfresco breakfasts, aperitivi and everything in between! The weather was a bit chilly for swimming, but the pool looked very enticing! A short drive to lots of great places to eat, too.
Wonderful combination of rolling hills with scattered old tuscan style farm houses. Everywhere are rows of vines sometimes interspersed with olive tree groves and in spring with bright yellow sun flowers waving in the sunshine.
Less than 30 minutes from the house one can be in the centre of the beautiful old city of Siena. Here it is possible to explore or just unwind and dine.
