Overview

Kentucky House Rental Photos and Description

Our three bedroom, two bath home is located in Cannon Springs North. After going through the drive gate off of wells road, you will go down the STEEP slope to your unique and far from the road valley getaway. We loved the location and the view from the deck so much that we built an outdoor shower that has hot and cold water. (What a pleasure bathing outside with nature).

From the upper deck and lower patio areas you can relax and look over the lake. Deer, hawks, many birds and our evening bats are a joy to watch. A short stroll down the paved walkway takes you to your private dock. Keep your boat here or just go down and enjoy the great fishing right out your backyard.

The home has three bedrooms, two bedrooms and one bath on the main level of the home. The green room has a king size bed and the peach room has a queen size bed.

From the Living Room you go upstairs and there is a full size futon in the loft. Off the loft is the master bedroom which also has a king size bed and a small private bathroom with a stall shower, toilet and sink.

If you are ready to cook the kitchen has all the plates, utensils, pots, pans and cookie sheets that you'll need. The kitchen is small and compact. Just enough room for the head cook to whip up a meal in no time so that you can get back to enjoying the beautiful outdoor areas.

Lucky Lake House has free internet so bring your laptop and sit out on the deck or on the patio and enjoy surfing your favorite sites. Cell phone service could be limited because the home is down in the valley closer to the lake. But that might be a GREAT thing!

The home has Direct TV and there is even a music server on the wall going upstairs. Just tap the screen and drill down to your favorite song.

At the end of a fun filled day, grab a towel and head down to that outdoor shower.

About Mark or Pamela Schneider

Having a Birthday Party at Lucky Lake House!

We live about 85 miles away and have always loved the water, golfing and taking hikes or drives across the country side. No better place to do this then the Barkley Lake Area.

Mark or Pamela Schneider purchased this house in 2002

Why Mark or Pamela Schneider chose Kentucky

We bought our Lucky Lake House in 2002. Our goal was to find a place that was on the lake, had a dock, had privacy and wasn't so large that it would take a day to clean. When we saw the for sale sign at the top of the hill but could not see the house a good feeling came into our heart. The realtor said some where afraid of the steep drive and we thought 'there are tons of steep drives around here' but none that has such a great place at the bottom of the hill.

What makes this house unique

Away From Any Roads, Down in Valley With No Immediate Neighbors, outdoor shower, great fishing from dock, Huge Outdoor Deck and Under Deck Areas,

Comfortable, clean, relaxing and fun!

  • 5 of 5

My family of six and our dogs truly enjoyed every minute of our stay at Lucky Lakehouse. The listing is completely accurate and I felt like I knew the place before we even got there. From comfortable beds (love that there are 2 king beds) to all of the outside lounging areas and fire ring. Fishing off the dock and "Old Geezer" we caught Bluegill, Sunfish and bass though only a few "keepers". Our pups were dog tired at the end of the days with all of the room to run and explore. A very nice grill helped us enjoy the outdoors also. Bugs are part of the experience so heed the suggestion of keeping lights to a minimun at night.

We had lunch at the Cabin in Eddyville where we enjoyed delicious soups and sandwiches on wonderful homemade breads with generous portions. We also bought homemade cinniamon rolls with us for breakfast the next morning and they were also very tasty. We were also able to get our fishing licenses in the same building. The Purple Toad Winery in Paducah has a large and welcoming sitting room.

We would love to return, and I'm not sure that we would leave the property next time!

Lucky Lakehouse Girls Getaway!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great, relaxing stay at the Lucky Lakehouse. We enjoyed the privacy of the property, beautiful area, serene views of the lake and striking fall colors. Our Great Danes, Elton and Clara had just as much fun exploring the property and playing at the lakes edge. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of extra pillows, blankets and towels. I do like to prepare our meals when away, the kitchen could use extra pans, a griddle, new set of plates. Loved having a dishwasher! We made use of the gas grill too! There is an elaborate sound system and ability to show movies outside that we did not use. WiFi is good, best cell reception is either at the top of the drive or down at the dock (we came for a get away!) The outside shower came in handy for washing off muddy dog feet and giving them a quick bath if it came to that with hot and cold running water. Caught the migration of pelicans one morning from the dock, what a sight! We spent some time at The Land Between the Lakes Park, went horsebackriding, took in the Nature Center and the Observatory. As luck would have it, the skys were clear and we were able to catch a meteor shower from the deck two nights running. If you like watching the sky, you will have a beautiful view. The driveway, as advertised, was steep. It is managable, as we three did find our way out whenever the mood struck. You'll have a great time here for a get away or if fishing and boating are what you enjoy it will be at your doorstep.

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I chose the Lucky Lake House for a 50th Birthday vacation to surprise my fiancee. I wanted something lakefront that we could bring our dog with. Also, at this time of the year Kentucky seemed to be a good choice for weather. We could not have asked for better weather it was a perfect week of temps in the 80's and all sunshine.

The house was perfect for our needs. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and they had all the necessary items in the kitchen and a nice size grill for cooking, washer and dryer that are big for large loads, TV was a perfect size and satellite reception was good. The wifi worked pretty well but phone service was sketchy which is to be expected in the more rural areas. The sound system both inside and outside is cool and a nice touch. The grounds were pretty and secluded a great place for privacy. The outdoor shower was a huge convenience for cleaning off our dog who made it a point every morning to go down by the dock and play in the water and mud. He had a ball and no leash needed, it was a real joy to watch him run free. We did some fishing off the dock but rented a pontoon boat to do most of our swimming and fishing. At this time of year a lot of places like the Marinas do not rent boats but we found a fantastic place, Kuttawa Harbour, that gave us a good deal on a pontoon and also had a real good restaurant called HU-B's (the burgers are awesome!! and I recommend their drink called the relaxer). Lake Barkley is beautiful and I felt comfortable swimming and fishing in it. We also visited the Elk and Bison Prairie in Cadiz which was cool a must see. Another place to go eat that is fantastic is Patti's 1880's Settlement. The steaks were delicious!

What I really like about the Lucky Lake house is that it is centrally located to a lot to see and eat within a 30 minute drive. Now, I have to comment on the driveway as other reviewers have. It really is something, I have never seen a steeper driveway. It was intimidating at first but became more like an amusement park ride as the week went on, we joked to each other quite a bit and luckily the rental car company did not examine underneath the car when I returned it, LOL. This of course is not a reason to NOT rent this house, in fact, we loved it so much we will be making it an annual tradition.

The owners are easy to deal with and leave good information and instructions for you. The rental process was a breeze.

Welcoming and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

I selected Lucky Lake House for a surprise family getaway to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday, and it was just perfect. We instantly felt right at home. The house itself was clean and well appointed, with plenty of sleeping space for 6 adults, 2 small children, and a couple of pooches. The kitchen had plenty of utensils and pots and pans, and, thankfully, a well-functioning dishwasher. We ate every meal at the house and did a lot of grilling, so a well-stocked kitchen was much appreciated. Most of our time was spent outside, enjoying all of the space to lounge and the fantastic outdoor sound system, pre-loaded with a huge variety of music (something for everyone). The kids never tired of running around the yard and the dock, looking for frogs, minnows, and fireflies. The outdoor shower was a great feature, as the dogs and the children got pretty mucky running around the shore. Due to recent rains the water was quite high and part of the walkway to the dock was displaced on the mucky shore, but a piece of plywood kept us from having to wade through the yucky stuff. We enjoyed the rowboat, big enough for the kids and four adults, and leisurely rows around the quiet bay. It's not a great area for swimming, though that didn't stop a few of us from jumping off the boat/ dock for a quick dip. For the kids, we took one quick trip to a swimming beach about 15 minutes away. The local grocery store had all we needed by way of supplies, and there was even a little liquor store just down the street. Overall, it was a perfect spot for our relaxing long weekend (thank you for renting for partial weeks!) and we are talking about making it an annual tradition. A note on the driveway: The pictures don't do it justice! it was intimidating, especially driving a standard transmission, and our cars did scrape on the bottom. But once we arrived we hardly ever left, so really it was not a big deal.

Awesome vacation!

  • 4 of 5

We loved the yard and the boat dock! With the thick trees around were able to let our dogs run free the whole weekend, they loved it. There were deer at the driveway and in the yard everyday. It was so quiet and peaceful at the house and once you got on the lake. It's on a very nice cove. We took our boat and it was great to be able to just walk down to the dock to just jump in and go. Spent most days fishing, caught a lot of catfish. Even took the boat up to Buzzard Rock for lunch. Spent a lot of nights sitting on the wonderful decks! Great place to vacation!

My only negatives were the super STEEP driveway and the bushes on the bottom deck blocked the view.

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you had a great time and want to be sure that everyone knows that our drive is very steep. We have done our best on the VRBO site to show a picture of the drive and make it as clear as possible in the information on the site. Will definitely take a look at the evergreens to see what is going on with those. As much rain as we have gotten they may have taken off and grown a lot faster than what we expected! There is always a nice view from under the deck and from on top of the deck and we want to keep it that way, thanks for the heads up on that!

Great extended weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on an extended weekend family getaway. This cabin was perfect for our extended family. We enjoyed the porches, nice backyard and close proximity to the water. We fished from the dock and had a very restful weekend stay. We enjoyed it so much, we only left the cabin once for a meal out! The only recommendation we would make would be for renters to drive a 4-wheel drive truck due to the very steep driveway. My parents' SUV scraped on the concrete. We found this place pretty clean, with the exception of a few areas of mice "evidence" in the kitchen. We will definitely return in the future.

Map

When one thinks of Lake Barkley the cities of Eddyville, Cadiz and Grand Rivers come to mind. Eddyville has Eddy Bay where the local marina sponsers the huge fireworks show each year, Thunder over Eddy Bay. There is a nice Water Park in Eddyville and if you are a Golfer, Mineral Mounds State Park is right outside of town. Several local restaurants offer great food and if you are a history buff you can visit the Museum at the Kentucky State Penitentiary. Need a boat, Prizer Point Marina can rent you one for a day or for a week. If you have a boat Lucky Lake House is about 1 mile away from the ever popular Dryden Creek Boat Ramp.

A short drive away is Cadiz, Kentucky. Lots of Antique shops to visit in their quaint downtown. Go the other way towards Grand Rivers and you can visit the famous Patti's Restaurant and catch a live bluegrass show.

If you are into hiking, riding ATV's, shooting guns or just taking a scenic drive you can continue on to Land-Between-The-Lakes. There are many other golf courses in the area and a variety of restaurant choices as well.
