Chalet Fingals is a traditional Swiss chalet designed between the owners and a local architect, and built with the very best materials and local craftsmanship. Situated on a sunny tranquil plot, the chalet has been furnished and decorated in a beautiful contemporary style, with every modern convenience being made available to ensure that your holiday is as enjoyable as possible; a real home from home that we are delighted to share with you and your family and friends. The open plan living area and the wonderfully cosy upper-mezzanine floor, which offer a variety of sofa's and leather chairs that could comfortably seat 12 people, benefit from exceptional panoramic views across the Rhone valley; whilst a full length balcony, large tiled terrace and an idyllic garden patio/BBQ area capture the all day sun. 4 bedrooms happily sleeps 8, a sofa bed on the mezzanine floor sleeps 2 more and 4 neighbouring chalets can be rented for larger parties - 5 chalets are all within a snow ball's throw!

Accessibility: Chalet Fingals shares a spacious plot with 4 other chalets and is the first to be accessed via our private road. The main entrance to the chalet is via the terrace and is only a few yards from the double parking bay. If required, the ground floor bedrooms (french doors onto patio) can also be accessed via steps from the terrace to the ground floor patio.

Nendaz village is 2km up the road and offers plenty of restaurants, boutique shops, 3 supermarkets and numerous ski hire shops (residents at our chalet receive a 10% discount from Gaby Sports). However, the nearest boulangerie and smaller supermarket is about 1km up the road.

The closest telecabine is in the village (car parking is plentiful) which takes you up to Tracouet at 2200m. Other starting points include Siviez (10 minutes), Veysonnaz (15 minutes) and Thyon (20 minutes) which can all be accessed via a free (with ski pass) shuttle bus which stops 100yds from the chalet. Note, all locations are connected by 400km of piste

Outside: A large terrace provides the main access to the chalet and adjoins a full length balcony to the front offering extensive mountain views. Both can also be accessed via French doors from the lounge and dining areas. Steps also lead from the terrace to a patio and the French doors of 3 bedrooms. The main patio area is a tranquil spot that benefits from sun most of the day, and then the late evening sun can be enjoyed on the downstairs patio with BBQ, table/chairs and comfortable garden furniture. The surrounding garden is beautiful in the summer months and is planted with local mountain plants and shrubs.

Wonderful Chalet - stupendous views

We stayed at Chalet Fingals for a fortnight in August. It is a really well-equipped chalet and the wi-fi worked perfectly, which was much appreciated by all, but particularly by the two young people in the family. There are stupendous views from the sitting room and the balcony of the Rhone Valley and the surrounding mountains, which were a delight to look at, particularly when the sun was setting on the mountains in the evening.

We were very lucky with the weather - most days were sunny or sunny intervals, but not too hot. There are lots of outings and walks to do, either straight from the door or in easy travelling distance. The trip up to Mont Fort (on a chair lift - not at all scary - and two cable cars) is a must, and the walks along the bisses are very interesting but not too much of a strain as they are mostly on the level. Haute Nendaz itself is an attractive little town and was quite active even though it was the Summer season.

Further afield, the trip to Zermatt took a little over an hour but the ride from there up the Gornegrat cog railway, with wonderful views of the Matterhorn, was a highlight. We also went to Geneva to visit the large hadron collider at CERN (you can book a tour online) - not everyone's top tourist destination, but a must-see if you have a Physics student in the party. Although it was a long way, we drove back alongside Lake Geneva, which was really nice on a sunny Summer's evening.

Finally, if you are prime target for mosquitos when on holiday, I am delighted to report that we didn't see one mozzie around the chalet! There were a few midges up on the bisses, which is to be expected, but nobody got any bites at all throughout the holiday, which must be a first.

Excellent chalet in a great location

This is our third stay at the chalet and again we have had a fantastic holiday. The chalet is very well equipped and ideal location for skiing and going on lovely hikes. The owners are extremely accommodating and flexible and given this is our third time we would definitely recommend.

Wonderful stay, five star chalet !!!

The Fingals chalet is a wonderful place to stay. We immediately felt at home upon our arrival. The property is beautilful and well placed with a spectacular view on the mountains.The chalet is very well equipped and decorated with style. If you are looking for a very nice place to stay in the region, do not hesitate to book your stay you will not be dissapointed !!

Wonderful Stay

Very very comfortable challet, met all our expectations. there were no problems, everything worked well and as described. We will be booking again and while this was for a ski trip I am sure the area must be idylic in the summer.

The chalet that ticks all the boxes

Finding a suitable chalet for either a summer or winter break can be a risky business! For us, it's got to have a great location, it's to be a nice resort and not too crowded as well. It's got to be easy to get to from the UK by air and car and obviously the property itself needs to be of a very high standard that's well equipped....oh, and with 2 teenagers in tow, access to wi-fi is a must! Fortunately, when we booked Chalet Fingals we hit the jackpot! We got all of these things and more so what a great time, a great property and a magnificent view - we'll be back!

Very nice chalet in a good and beautiful location.

We stayed at chalet Fingal two years in a row. It is an excellent chalet, with modern equipment and good parking. The chalet is within convenient driving distance to several ski lift stations, food stores and restaurants. Furhermore, there is a really beautiful view fron the chalet. We truly recommend the place.

Voted by the Swiss Tourist Federation as one of the best summer/winter locations for families in Vaiais region, Haute Nendaz is a cosy mountainous all year round resort with 3 excellent supermarkets, boucherie, boulangerie, fromagerie, laiterie, post office, bank, ski hire shops, superb restaurants and bars, and for the ladies several boutiques offering very unique products. In Winter, Nendaz is superb for beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers alike; with 400km of pistes in altitudes ranging from 1350m to 3330m, served by 100+ cable cars and lifts. In summer, Nendaz has its own picturesque outdoor swimming pool, 8 outdoor tennis courts, squash, fully equipped gymnasium, several nearby golf courses, fishing, paragliding, extensive well marked mountain walking and biking routes, mountain tours and climbing. If none of the above appeals to you just relax on the sun soaked terrace or garden at Chalet Fingals and enjoy the breathtaking mountain views with a glass of local chilled wine!

Golf: Six contrasting golf courses are located within an hour's drive of Haute Nendaz. If you are willing to travel a little further, 9 hole courses can also be found at Matterhorn, Source du Rhone and Riederalp.

Ski: Nendaz is superb for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers alike. At Nendaz, in the heart of the Four Valleys ski area, 400 km of pistes, in altitudes ranging from 1,350 to 3,330m, served by 100 cable cars and lifts await you. Much exists to make your family holiday as memorable and convenient as possible including children's ski centre, crèche, games library, ice-rink and special low rates for family ski passes. The ski schools are excellent with very friendly instructors & the 'kids area' at Tracouet is huge, safe and very well catered. More than 90 km of glorious winter hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing will warm your heart. Notes:
The dining area seats 8 with a 3 additional bar stools at the breakfast bar. The kitchen is a bespoke design, is very modern and has new high spec appliances. There are granite worktops throughout and a granite breakfast bar, built-in fridge/freezer, dishwasher and oven. Also microwave, ceramic hob, kettle, toaster, and NEPRESSO coffee maker. The living space includes a large open-plan area with vaulted ceiling, underfloor heating, beautiful marble wood burning stove, 2 sofa's and leather lazy chair. Also, on the upper-mezzanine level on one side there is a plasma screen TV, DVD player, wireless internet access, double sofa bed and 2 leather chairs. The other side is a study area with desk offering views over the Rhone valley, and a cosy reading area with armchair, nested tables and book selection. On the ground floor there is a utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer, Dyson hoover, iron/ironing board, bucket/mop, dustpan/brush. This is also an ideal drying room.
