About Audrey McCarthy

We have been married since 2004 and currently have four young children (3 boys and 1 girl). We have lived in several (way too many) states and are delighted to have finally discovered Amelia Island. Our goal is to move here permanently once we retire. Once you visit you will see why!

Audrey McCarthy purchased this condo in 2012

Why Audrey McCarthy chose Northeast Florida

We first fell in love with Amelia Island during a family vacation in January 2011. That short trip changed the course of our lives to a degree insofar as we decided we wanted to make Amelia Island our home after spending only 3 days here. We changed careers in order to allow us to spend more time here and bought our first home near the beach in March 2011. We quickly settled in as part-time residents and made several friends at Amelia Landings. We love the almost 'secret-garden' location, completely hidden from the roadway by tall shade trees and only a very short stroll to the beach and shops. When the opportunity arose to become owners in the Landings we felt that the opportunity was too good to pass up. Our favorite thing about the Landings is the private footpath that leads to the beach and the huge deck on the back of our ground-floor condo and the great layout for having company over or just spending time with the family. We love not having a stairs!

Also, it's only a short drive to all that beautiful Old Town has to offer and there are two great grocery stores, mini-golf, ice cream, post office and antique stores within walking distance.

What makes this condo unique

Location, location, location... and a truly a family-friendly home that will allow you and your family to unwind and explore everything the island has to offer, without compromising that hard-to-find peace and quiet. This condo really has it all.

Child friendly and close to the beach

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Amelia Island. The Condo is well equipped with beach accessories for children and the bedroom is perfect for children. There is short private boardwalk to the beach where we saw animals including a turtle, a small snake and lizards in all sizes.

At the beach is a very good bar/restaurant Sliders. Make sure you taste their seafood and go there at the evening to have a drink and listen to the music.

No need to bring anything than your own food. The Condo was equipped with everything necessary.

Fernandina Beach is well worth a visit to shop, dine and take a walk in the historic city center.

We can only recommend to stay at Audreys and Colins home.

Quiet, relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to visit the area. We wanted to visit St. Augustine and friends in the Jacksonville area. At the same time, we wanted a quiet setting where we could relax, go to the beach, visit shops and historic locations. This condo in Amelia Landings was perfect for us! It had everything we needed and even exceeded the online description and photos. The screened porch in this first floor condo was especially enjoyable for reading and relaxing. Thanks so much for your hospitality!

Wonderful Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Audrey and Colin were so helpful prior, during, and after my stay! Their condo is very comforting, and I loved the porch! It is a great walking distance to the beach and beach bar/food. The washer stopped working, and they got back via email within 24hours and had their emergency contact come over and fix it right away. Overall, great stay!!

Great clean condo!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at Colin and Audrey's condo. They were very easy to work with, and the condo was very clean and roomy. My 3-year old really enjoyed having her own room and loved sleeping on the top bunk of the bunk beds. Plenty of pool and beach toys, along with a beach cart. There is a path that will take you over to the road and then across the beach. The walking distance was a little long with a 3-year old and a cart full of stuff, especially when caught in a thunderstorm coming back. We had rain everyday, but luckily it was in the afternoon. We had never been to Amelia Island before, so we didn't really know what to expect. Overall, it was very nice; however we wish there were more beach restaurant options close to the condo. We did enjoy the historic downtown district on our last night. Also, if you want to see the Amelia Island lighthouse, know that you have to sign up for a tour as it's not easily accessible on your own. We went to nearby Fort Clinch state park and was able to get a picture of it. Overall, we had a great trip and would recommend Colin and Audrey's condo, especially if you have kids.

Great place for family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this condo from Colin and Audrey for my son and his family for our annual family reunion. It was perfect and had everything they needed for a comfortable stay with children. I highly recommend it with its lovely décor and great location overlooking the complex's fishing pond. I will definitely rent it again for next year's reunion.

Thanks, Colin and Audrey!

Car: recommended

Our ground-floor condo is located close to all of the best that Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach have to offer. Amelia Island offers the climate and friendliness that you would expect from North Florida without any of the crowded hustle and bustle associated with your typical beach towns. The island is a well-kept secret among those who have discovered it for themselves, from the wonderful Fort Clinch only a three minute drive away to the spell-binding boating and eco-tours that leave regularly from the town's marina, a 5 minute drive away. After you enjoy your morning coffee and juice you can take a leisurely 3-4 minute stroll to one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever see. Boasting over 13 miles of golden sand dunes, you will never grow bored with your walks or collecting the most amazing shells, or occasional sharks' teeth. Amelia Island was made for relaxing, and is especially suited to the family vacation.

Although the drive from Jacksonville Airport to your front door typically takes less than 30 might as well be in a different world. It is hard to believe that you can be driving down the island's winding lanes with Spanish moss hanging from the oak trees that cover the road, in such a short distance from a major airport. Of course this also means that if you feel like a day at the AMAZING Jacksonville can be there with the kids in about 25 minutes...not bad considering it feels more like you have changed planets. Of course, the antiquing on Amelia Island is second to none and the quaint stores that give 'Oldtown' such a wonderful ambiance will tempt you to while away hours at a time browsing at their treasures.

But, if you feel the need, there are several outlet malls in Jacksonville that are well worth a visit on those rare occasions when the rain falls.
