About Chris & Emily

Although we were raised in Vermont we are both world travelers. We purchased this property in 2013 and built the barnyard tiny home in 2016. We love meeting new people and wanted to create a nest for others to call home on their journey through this beautiful part of the Northeast. We love anything healthy, natural and wood grain. You can often find us dancing to our favorite 80’s classics while creating something new in the kitchen from our garden. We are passionate about food, flavors, learning new things and most of all enjoying the simple things in life.

Chris & Emily purchased this house in 2013

Why Chris & Emily chose Old North End

This spot is quite accessible to all areas of Vermont via our main roadway. We have some of the most tree cover on our property for the neighborhood, still getting good light from the sun 16 hours a day in the summer. It was sturdy, safe, and had a charming vibe to it from first visit. We could not ask for more.

What makes this house unique

1) Although biking and driving are heavily preferred, you can technically walk anywhere from here, and it is beautiful for a stroll. There are bike lanes on the roads into Burlington form here.

2) Biodiversity (birds especially) and lush growth on the property + having [Vermont] urban proximity.

3) Definitely before, but now more than ever, this property has ecologically optimized and energy conscious principles in use and available.

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Emily and Chris have created a beautiful space that is so comfortable, it immediately feels like home! It’s very inviting and quiet - we only stayed two nights but it was amazingly restful! Any trips we take to the Burlington area in the future will involve the Carriage House in our plans!

Great find

  • 5 of 5

Lovely place built by the owners. Everything is new and the design is very clever. It’s close to church street in Burlington and very close to some great restaurants. Chris was super nice and takes pride in the home he designed for guests.

Lovely retreat

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our stay in this little carriage house. The location of the property was perfect for our needs. The design of this property made it delightful for it's occupants and the attention to detail was amazing. Both my husband and I were amazed at how beautifully constructed the property was and that Chris and his father had built it.

My only suggestions to future renters would be to mention if you would like fresh eggs that the chickens outback provide and the granola that Emily mentions in the information booklet which we had not seen until our departure. Also, only toilet paper is provided so if you are a fan of paper towels and Kleenex (even though we should all be cutting back on usage) you will need to purchase these for yourself.

We again wish to say what a wonderful experience we had and that if we ever return to Vermont we would rent this property without hesitation.
