**** This cottage is managed by a fellow owner. Please see my other listings below, including the cottage I own. Thanks, Susie ******
We purchased our cottage on Kiawah Island in summer of 2005, and I began renting it on VRBO during the weeks we were not able to enjoy Kiawah ourselves. In 2007, a friend on nearby Seabrook Island asked me if I would help her rent her villa also. Since I loved helping people plan their vacations in the area, I obtained my South Carolina Property Manager's License and began a business - Kiawah By Owner. I now help rent more than 25 other properties on Kiawah Island and Seabrook Island in addition to our cottage. I look forward to helping you plan your vacation - Susie Oringel 704-277-2912
We loved the house and will be coming back. Plenty of space and perfect for those traveling with other couples or kids.... The guest house is pretty much a complete 2nd house. Deck and screened in porch overlooking the course is huge! Can't wait to get back to Kiawah! Susie was awesome to work with!
The house had everything we needed and more. The bike trail was right out front and golf course in the back. What a great week !
This is a very comfortable home with a beautiful golf course view. Like others, we chose it because of the pet policy. It turned out to be my family's favorite rental in the eight years we have been visiting Kiawah. The deck is large and stretches the length of the house and includes a screened in area. The large tub in the master was heaven. The home is well maintained and clean. We had 6 adults and were quite comfortable. It is not close to the beach, but that was no problem with bikes and beach rentals for chairs and umbrella. The manager, Suzie, was an absolute pleasure to work with as she was helpful and always quick to respond. We will definitely stay at 333 Governors again.
We have been visiting Kiawah since 1984 and have lived in houses and condos all over the island, but this was the first time we brought our friendly and housebroken dog on vacation. We selected the 333 Governor's Drive for our annual vacation on Kiawah due to the house size/accommodations (we brought six adults) and the pet policy -- I could find very few houses on the island that allows pets. After living in the house for a week, I can say that we would recommend the house to friends regardless of their dog situation. This is a big, comfortable, attractive house and a pleasant place to live. We concluded this is a good house for a family with older children or a group of active adults on vacation. Probably not the best house for a family with young kids who requiring herding to and from the (distant) beach. Bikes are very necessary in this location on the island. The apartment above the garage provides relatives or friends a bit of privacy. But, be aware of the overall bedroom arrangement; there are only two accessible bedrooms in the main house, and two bedrooms in the guest house. And, except for the master bedroom in the main house, all bedrooms have double beds -- not the larger queen beds or separate twin beds. So, effectively, we could only accommodate five adults in beds. Awkward. Fortunately, we brought an inflatable mattress, on which our stoic daughter agreed to sleep, with only minor complaining.
Other observations: The kitchen is well arranged, has a good view of the golf course, and is the center of activity. The arrangement of the kitchen utensils in drawers, however, was haphazard. But that quickly reorganized logically by several cooks. The primary cook said the kitchen was lacking a 3-quart sauce pan....
We ran short on silverware very quickly, but that was corrected by friendly repairman Pat. He also fixed a few minor items around the house -- very responsive service. Here's my summary of this rental experience:
Pros: Easy and pleasant reservations and management. Pet policy. Condition and quality of the property. Responsive service with good attitude. Nice location (for family of adults). Screened porch -- made the outdoors accessible. Deck was convenient and pleasant. Availability of grill. Access to the single garage for parking car and bikes.
Cons: Lack of "bed space". The daily army of golf course maintenance vehicles starting at 7AM. Thank you.
Beautiful home. Roomy kitchen, both suites in main house are master quality. Main master bath is huge. Mother in law suite across covered porch ideal for 3rd couple or for 4 teenagers. Fantastic owner's library!
We enjoyed the home very much. It has everything needed for a week of relaxation, including a lovely deck and a nice screened in porch. The house is quite comfortable and unfussy.
