|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Enjoy the Newfoundland experience in this beautiful 3 bedroom home located in the historic out-port of Pouch Cove, founded in 1611 and now budding with artists, artisans and musicians. Situated right on the cove overlooking the mighty Atlantic Ocean with the East Coast Trail at the foot of the garden.
Breathtaking views of rocky bluffs and pine clad hills from the many windows. Relax on the deck and watch the whales and icebergs or go for an invigorating hike along the East Coast Trail.
Enjoy your stay!
Both my parents are from Newfoundland. Growing up we waited anxiously for our bi-yearly car trips from Ontario to visit family back home. Being one of eight sisters was a challange, but we always managed. We would cram into our Ford Meteor and make that three day drive, singing sunday school songs and trying desperately to syncronize our bladders, so as not to make too many stops!, My love for the island continues to grow and I'm finally able to tell you that I've achieved my goal to purchase my own 'piece of the rock'. I hope you love it as much as I do.
Betty McMahon purchased this house in 2011
Only 20 minutes to the airport and 30 minutes to St.John's, this location is ideal. The East Coast Trail runs right behind the house and the ocean views are just incredible. Everything I've ever dreamed of is here at Oceanside Suites!
Whale watching, icebergs and the many varieties of sea birds are all just outside your window! I would be hard to find views any better than here!
A quiet out-port town founded in 1611, there is so much history in this community. Still small enough to get that true Newfoundland experience but only minutes to the city life of St. John's.
Oceanside is a beautiful home in picturesque Pouch Cove!! My mothers family is from Pouch Cove, so we have been visiting this community for over 50 years. My brother and I stayed at Oceanside with our families during the July 18-25th Pouch Cove Come Home Days. The weather was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the back deck with the spectacular ocean view and the opportunity to see whales in the distance.
The home was great for entertaining relatives that still live in the community. On several occasions during our stay we entertained and served traditional Newfoundland cuisine consisting of locally caught cod, jigs dinner, and moose steak and sausage.
The home was immaculate and more than adequately met our needs.
Oceanside is perfect for those seeking a visit to Newfoundland and the opportunity to experience the feel of a small community in combination with the close proximity to St. John's. For those how like to hike, the East Coast Trail is a wonderful way to see the coast line. Although challenging, the hike from Pouch Cove to Cape Francis is highly recommended!!
Three of us spent one week at Betty's home. We enjoyed Pouch Cove for the beauty of the views, the quiet neighbors, and the ease of driving around the peninsula. Everything in the house worked great, including the fast WiFi. The home was immaculate. We had 2 bedrooms and baths, one up, one on the main floor. Beds were very comfy and the water pressure in the bathrooms was great. The kitchen was well equipped with all the pots and gadgets needed to cook, we did cook in each night. We did have a local boil order for water 5 out of the 7 days, but we worked that out OK. We always used bottled water for drinking. The living and dining areas were comfortable with great views, and we loved sitting out on the deck in the evening with the waves crashing and gulls flying about and watching the cutest pony living on the hill next door. We went to the Saturday farmers market and bought all the veggies we needed for the week. The drive into St. John's was just under half an hour. About the same for the airport. There are 2 big supermarkets between St. John's and Pouch Cove, very convenient. We enjoyed day trips all over the peninsula, navigation is pretty easy. All in all, we were very happy for our week at this quiet, comfortable home.
Oceanside Suites was everything we expected and much more. The home was cozy and nicely decorated with beautiful art work from local artists. The views from the many windows overlooking the Atlantic Ocean were stunning. The 3 beds were all very comfortable and the house had everything we needed to enjoy our time in Pouch Cove. We even made use of the fireplace since it was quite cold this July. There was plenty of room in the house for all 6 of us (2 adults, 2 seniors and 2 youths). It was a short drive to St. John's where we made daily trips and enjoyed many great attractions during our week-long stay. Betty was a pleasure to deal with and I would highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.
Awesome location backing onto the Ocean. First sunrises in North America and only 15-20 from St Johns. Simply Amazing!
My husband and I attended a conference is St John's and wanted to get out of town to enjoy some natural splendour. We chose this place because of the fantastic view from the back porch and were not disappointed - beautiful!! Bed was comfy, place was spotless and inviting at the end of cold days out and about. We especially appreciated the gas fireplace on returning from hiking nearby trails. Would definitely stay again. Thanks, Betty.
What a beautiful home you have -- with a beautiful oceanview!!! We absolutely loved our stay at Oceanside.
The house was definitely nice and clean -- it looked great.
We hiked signal hill, cape spear and the east coast trail right behind the house. We hiked most of the way to Shoe Cove.
We hope to visit again some day (for vacation only - no trade show).
Thanks for making your house available to us!
