Our winery is located just a short walk over so you can enjoy wine tastings plus we are open for lunch on weekends. Arrangements can be made for additional meals, as requested. We are perfect for a family gathering, corporate outing or reunions and welcome any and all events.

About Rudy Younger
Hi, my name is Charlie Wetmore and my family and I run the Cascade Mountain Winery plus our new on-site private home, The Birches! Our winery was founded in the spring of 1972 by my father, Bill Wetmore, who pioneered the production of premium table wines on the eastern side of the Hudson River. He, a former Novelist, along with his wife (my mother) Margaret and their three children, myself, Michael and Joan, planted the vineyard in 1972, built the winery in 1977 and opened the restaurant in 1985.
Rudy Younger purchased this House in 1972
Why Rudy Younger chose Dutchess County
The Birches is our new private home on site and has been totally redone inside and out. You can stay at this beautiful home while enjoying our winery and also exploring the local area as there is so much to see and do and all very close by. There is something for everyone! Today, Cascade Mountain features a full line of award-winning table wines which can be tasted at the winery tasting bar or enjoyed in the restaurant. Customers come from all over the world to enjoy a few pleasant hours on top of the Berkshire foothills sampling the wines, and enjoying a meal along with other savories from around the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires.
What makes this House unique

Wonderful stay at the Birches!
My family stayed at The Birches over the Thanksgiving Holiday. The house was in a peaceful, secluded setting and was very cozy. Although it was cold and snowy outside, the house stayed warm and comfortable. The house is tastefully decorated with beautiful furnishings. We found the bedrooms to be comfortable and the owner accommodated our request for a larger dining table. He had us set up with a beautiful table that was perfect for our group of 7. The basement rec area had a ping pong table, very large screen tv and comfortable recliner seats. The gourmet kitchen was our favorite - well equipped with pots, pans. The surprise was that there was a sous vide machine and vaccuum sealer - what a treat! We enjoyed walking on the nearby Harlem Valley Trail and the beautiful countryside. Charlie (the owner) also set us up with a private wine tasting with Geoff at the winery. This was great as we were able to purchase some wine to enjoy for the trip. The wine shop also sells assorted locally produced foods (honey, bbq sauce, etc) and we bought some of the spicy pepper jelly which is absolutely delicious.
We are on the New York / Connecticut border with many great places to visit including the quaint towns of Sharon, Millbrook, Lakeville and Stockbridge. We are very close to several private schools including the Millbrook School, the Kildonan School plus Lime Rock Racetrack, the Millbrook Equestrian Center, Sharon/Tri-arts Playhouse, Tanglewood Performing Arts Center, the new Silo Ridge Resort and much more!
