About the property

Perfect for a romantic get away...

Secluded but not remote, just 2.6 miles from Main St. Highlands.EXTRA NICE & CLEAN, very private upstairs Coach House apartment. Like new, built in 2008 . Full kitchen including dish washer, new king size bed 2016.. Spacious ,light and airy with windows on 4 sides. Located in beautiful and well groomed Falling Waters community. Nice walking neighborhood, very little traffic, mostly easy terrain..go up to Hide Away Hill if you like more challenge or walk down to the bottom of the falls if you want burning buns. Stop at the little creek-side park and and watch the brook go by. There are lots of birds, wild flowers and little critters around.

About Neil Van Hoogen

We came to the Highlands area in 1996 from Palm Beach County Florida after retiring (Show & Sell publications). We fell in love with the area and became 'accidental hands on developers' of Falling Waters a fifty two acre community....long story. We attend Community Bible Church, (one of the highlights of the area), where Paula sings in the choir. We keep busy taking care of the development...mowing, blowing leaves, weed whacking, planting flowers etc. We like to take short trips in our 5th wheel when we can.

Neil Van Hoogen purchased this apartment in 1998

Why Neil Van Hoogen chose Highlands

Great location, Just 2.4 miles from downtown Highlands, gated gentle land good for walking, building..waterfalls and creeks.

We have 35 acres for sale if you would like to join us, carve out your parcel .65 acres to 10+ acres choose from Waterfall view, Creek front or multi acre Private Estate...great prices too. Lot Prices range from $139,000 to $379,000 --waterfall view. We have a cottage section visit highlandscottages.com for those looking to downsize.

What makes this apartment unique

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful, a slower pace, smaller, no traffic jams, friendlier, nearly crime free......We love outdoors, wildlife, mountains , streams, beautiful trees and flowers.......COOL SUMMER DAYS & NIGHTS ...mild winters.

THERES NO PLACE LIKE HOME

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived it by far exceeded our expectations , so well put together down to the cutest of details. Very clean , comfortable and so relaxing of a place to stay for holiday or for any reason. We didn't want to leave. It feels as though u r home. The owners Paula and Neil are most wonderful people to meet and deal with on anything u may need during your stay. I wanted to adopt them as my own family members. You wont be disappointed in anything about this nest for two. It also is a very close drive to downtown Highland which offers great dining, shopping and such a great downtown atmosphere of the little quaint town that everyone is helpful and friendly. Loved it. We took in the New Year at a most wonderful place called Paolettis it was the best. Also tried Wolfgang , Ugly Dog and Wild Theme,. Don't miss out try them all. However finding Paula and Neil's nest for two completed the trip to its fullest. So very beautiful grounds all around to explore. Come and give a try u wont be disappointed in the least. Thank u so much Paula and Neil.

Owner's Response: Young or old(er) couples seem to just melt into the nest. How fun it is to meet most of them. We try to give them their space, unless they want to talk. Then, we're happy to share our favorite spots and neat local shopkeepers and chefs. Love to hear THEIR stories as well!

Mountain Perfection

  • 5 of 5

My college age daughter and I spent Thanksgiving in this wonderful mountain retreat. The design and décor of this unit are charming and everything was spotless. Neil and Paula even helped out with loaning us a baking pan for our hens! The home is located a couple of miles from a town full of shops and restaurants, but you get the total mountain experience staying in this "treehouse." We hope to return!

Awesome place to spend a fall getaway

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for an outstanding private location to spend some time in the mountains this is it. We went in peak fall foliage season but it would be great any time of year. Weather you're looking for an elegant secluded home base or a place to cook an intimate dinner, this is it. Paula and Neil made us feel like house guests. We will return.

Owner's Response: Well, we DO feel that way--somehow we've been blessed with feeling personally responsible for the comfort and peace of each person we are gifted with. It's a privilege.
