Very private setting but easily accessible to town, the harbor and many great hikes. It is located on picturesque Fernald Point Road. At the head of the road is the Causeway Golf Course and on the other end is the Acadia National Park trail head for Flying Mountain and Valley Cove. Flying Mountain is a family friendly hike with breathtaking views of the islands. Valley Cove is a stunning, cliff lined cove, accessible down a bike and stroller friendly fire road. Why Anna Eschholz chose Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island

Cedar View is a sweet cottage in an excellent location. It is tucked in the woods on 16 acres of land that abuts Acadia National Park. The cottage is a 1.5 mile walk into town over the mill dam, with gorgeous views of the harbor. The town of Southwest Harbor has shops, restaurants, a playground and of course the harbor, where there are numerous tour boat and sailing opportunities.

What makes this house unique

Star Gazing and listening to the many sounds of the woods while sitting on the porch and catching distant glimpses of the light out on Baker Island is just about as relaxing as you can get.

Marvelous stay in the woods

  • 5 of 5

The cedar view is a can't miss stay on the quiet side of the island. The house is in a tranquil woods with deer and wild turkeys coming through the yard on a daily basis. The deck allows you t peacefully enjoy the woods and fresh air. The house itself is an ideal place to stay. Clean, spacious and well equipped, you really do not even need to go out if you really do not want to. Ideal for couples and families alike. Easy access to hiking and the sound as well as downtown southwest harbor. It is a short 30 ish minute drive to bar harbor and the main areas of the national park. I can't say enough about the cedar view and its wonderful hosts. You should absolutely rent this house. We hope to return there some time soon.

Great spot!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed over the week of the 4th of July. This was our 3rd time to Acadia, and I don't think you could find a better place to stay in Southwest Harbor. Extremely convenient to everything, Flying Mountain (a great family hike) is literally at the end of the road! Echo Lake is less than a 5 min drive, downtown is less than a mile. My wife was blown away by how clean the house was. The best part was that my 6 year old accidentally locked some of his gear in a closet. Anna (the owner) was extremely accommodating, coming back to the house twice on a Sunday to help us pick the lock. Stay here, you won't be disappointed!

Just what we needed for our MDI trip!!

  • 5 of 5

Cedar View was just perfect for us...My husband and myself, plus another couple we traveled with. It had everything we needed - and was a nice, quiet place to retreat to after a full day of walking trails, hiking, checking out Acadia National Park. Comfortable and very functional too!!!

Perfect Home Base!

  • 5 of 5

Cedar View was a great home base for our family's week-long vacation on Mount Desert Island. We have been vacationing in Maine for several years and found this to be by far the best location. The house was clean and comfortable; and gave our teenage daughters space to themselves (with their own separate bath!) to unwind after busy days of hiking and biking in Acadia National Park. We loved being so close to hiking trails and a short jaunt into Southwest Harbor for dinner or dessert. We enjoyed watching the firefly light- show every evening and the tranquil location. We highly recommend!

Lovely Stay in Southwest Harbor!

  • 5 of 5

Our family recently spent several days at this lovely home. Our daughter recently relocated to Boston, and we were looking for a fun place to enjoy a family vacation with driving distance. We found it! Southwest Harbor and the surrounding area provided many of the activities/qualities we were looking for: hiking, sightseeing, great weather, good food options. The home was very comfortable and with all the amenities we needed. The one time we needed an item we could not locate, we simply asked the owner and before we knew it, our request was answered. This is the best way I can sum up our experience. I was on the phone with the daughter we went to visit the other day, and I asked her how she was doing. Her response was, "Fine. But I really wish we were back at the house in Maine together." We couldn't agree more!
