The owners have made multiple improvements to the place, and impeccable care has been taken to design every inch of the space to reflect the local sunny, laid-back good taste of the beautiful surroundings. The two families who own the cottage live downstate, and take great pride in making sure the cottage is comfortable with fine amenities that will make this a vacation one to remember.
Janet Moeller purchased this cottage in 2002

My wife and I spent a long weekend with the owners at this wonderful place. The very pleasant days provided the atmosphere for great walks and bike rides. The cooler nights helped us sleep like babies. One afternoon we went to a vineyard just down the road and sampled some wonderful reds and whites before buying a specialty red and a delicious white which we consumed at dinner that night. Another night found us at one of the local restaurants which had superb food and service. The Michigan White fish was fantastic. Moomers Ice Cream place just outside Traverse City is a must and side trips to some of the other lakes in the area will have you thinking you're in the Caribbean with the clear blue waters.
Don't miss this great place. If you go, you will want to go back!
We have come all the way from D.C. to stay in this house several times, both in summer and winter. It has such a wonderful, homey feel to it. It's the perfect place for relaxing and getting away from the hustle and bustle. We have two kids, and they LOVE it -- plenty of space to run around, both inside and out. There are so many things to do -- great walks (or runs, if you're so inclined), wineries, swimming, boating -- you name it. Or, you can just stay in, relax and enjoy the quiet and natural setting. The home has great amentities, with every detail taken care of, and is gorgeous (but not stuffy!). We love coming here!
My husband and I, along with another couple, spent an absolutely magical winter vacation in this beautiful home on Old Mission Peninsula. And it really does feel like home (only more beautiful—you can really tell that a gifted interior designer lives here). It is warm, inviting, and completely comfortable. This home has every possible amenity one could want—beautiful rooms, comfortable beds with great bedding, a gorgeous fireplace, a thoughtfully fitted-out kitchen with every possible utensil/pot/pan/serving dish a cook could ever want or need, even a washer and dryer. There was a wonderful collection of music, games, puzzles, books… And all within walking distance of a fabulous restaurant!
While we were there, a deep snowfall turned the entire area into a true winter wonderland (but never fear, the road was plowed almost instantly). The snowflakes were enormous, floating through the trees and out across the bay—it was the most incredible, silent, beautiful place in the world! We hiked, went cross-country skiing, cooked, listened to music, played board games, read books, and visited local shops for fabulous local wines and gourmet foods. There are galleries, shops, pubs… I could go on and on. We are looking forward to coming back and experiencing our new favorite ‘home away from home’ during all the other seasons of the year!
