Renovated fifties lake house. Built by the local car dealer to be the jewel of Flathead Lake. As the lot was split and a single-story home built in front, we do not have lake access. We do have lake views from our perch 100 yards from the lake.
At "home" you will find the lake ever-present. The dining and living rooms flow together into a spacious great room with a row of picture windows running the entire lake side of the house offering splendid views of Polson Bay. The dining table seats 8. A large, cozy sectional defines the living room making it the perfect place to read a book, play games, watch a movie or the weather moving in over the lake. We provide cable TV, high speed internet, DVDs, games and a small varied library, including children's books.
The master bedroom (12' x 12') has a reading nook, closets with built in dressers, and two lake-view windows. The other patio-side bedroom is more modest (8' x 13') with a double bed and a dresser. Our beds are new and our bedding tasteful, selected for high thread count and quality fabric.
The pastel pink kitchen features the original custom refrigerator/freezer and built-in blender and griddle. All modern conveniences -toaster, microwave, coffeemaker, coffee grinder, blender and teapot-are also present. We provide a set of good pots and pans, matching place settings, flatware and quality bakeware. Everything you need to make, serve and enjoy a great meal is here. We even have a small cookbook library.
The back barbecue deck, with art deco railing, faces the lake. It's large eaves offer ample shade during the heat of the day. Bathed by full sun early in the morning and late in the day this is a great spot to enjoy a quiet breakfast or sip wine and watch night fall over the lake. On the south side of the house, there is a large flagstone garden patio, the perfect place to work on your tan, read a book, or take in the morning sun. Our lot has ample parking.

OUR GENERAL SETTING
A small undeveloped wetlands/woods to the east provides a haven for the wildlife-- deer, raccoon, fox, ducks and geese, doves and songbirds, gulls, eagles, owls and hawks—often spied from our property.
Within a few hundred feet, you will find groceries, banking, gas/car wash, Steve's video rental, espresso, McDonald's, Ace Hardware, Pizza Hut, Burgerville, (Polson’s favorite fast food-seafood baskets, burgers, chicken, malts) directly across the street, The Hot Spot, an excellent family-run Thai restaurant, is 4 doors to the west.
Lake opportunities are minute's away:
SK Marina-- 400 yards west, is visible from our back door. They offer boat put in, dock slips, jet ski/boat rentals and scenic lake cruises- (part of Kwa Tuk Nuk Best Western); 406.883.3636.
Glacier Raft, next to SK Marina-- Here you will find daily white-water river trips, chartered fishing, sea kayak and paddle board trips and instruction. A two minute drive will get you to Flathead Lake Marina. They rent boats and water toys to pull behind. They also rent jet skis- Flathead Lake Marina, 50230 HWY 93 South, Polson Montana 59860; 406.883.0999.
Boettcher Park is ½ mile (ten minutes walk) east. The Park has a picnic area, swimming, zero-entry beach for young swimmers, showers, playset, swings, horseshoes, volleyball, concessions, paddleboat rentals, and the Port Polson Players live summer theater.
Polson Bay Golf Club, the largest course in the area (27 holes) and the only course directly on the shore of Flathead Lake, is 1/4 mile from our door. Summer rates are nine holes for $28 or 18 for $48. Two other courses are within 20 minutes drive. Nine more courses are between 45 minutes and 1 1/2 hours drive. All totaled, there are 216 holes of beautiful, challenging golf in the area.
Polson, the largest town on Flathead Lake, offers art galleries, book stores, gift shops, dining, health food, yoga classes, a 2-screen movie theater, Kwa Tuq Nuk Best Western Casino, and several city lake parks.
A designated bike trail runs in front of the house and connects to Polson (west) and the Walmart/Safeway shopping center (east). A hundred yards north, the old railroad bed has been converted into a 15-mile non-motorized walk/bike path. Several nice biking loops using this path and the country roads south of town are available. WE PROVIDE SOME BIKES AND HELMETS BUT DO NOT HAVE OTHER SAFETY GEAR.
Hunting opportunities abound. Pablo Reservoir National Wildlife Area --10 minutes from our door, provides refuge to upland birds and roughly 80,000 ducks. Hunting is available on thousands of acres of State and Salish Kootenai Tribe lands. One-half hour south, Ninepipe National Wildlife Area offers still more great habitat and hunting. Your dogs are welcome but we ask that you keep the mud and burrs outdoors, and keep dogs off the furniture and beds.
Fishing is also a great way to spend the day. The Jocko River offers excellent catch-and-release trout fishing. Kerr Dam spillway provides oxygen rich water for a variety of species from trout to bass and pike. Flathead Lake is a well-known lake trout fishery with an unlimited catch limit during Mack Days when anglers can win prize money of up to $5,000 for tagged fish. The Flathead River and several mountain lakes offer still more fishing opportunities.
We are located on the Salish/Kootenai reservation which offers great sightseeing, from the 114 year-old Pow Wow at Arlee to the moving frescoes at St. Ignatius Mission, to the National Bison Range. The stunning Mission Mountain Wilderness has dozens of lakes and offers great day hikes. The Garden of Ten Thousand Buddhas, 50 miles south, offers peace and inspiration for the spiritual traveler.
Glacier National Park, 73 miles north is a great one-day adventure; your family will always remember the drive to Logan Pass at the top of the Going to the Sun Road.
Finally, you can easily drive around Flathead Lake (105 miles) in a day, with plenty of time to enjoy the many quaint towns, bays, wineries, restaurants, orchards, state parks and beaches along the way.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in January and look forward to returning as soon as we can, perhaps with each change of season. The owners of this property have clearly put loving and thoughtful care into every aspect of their property. The interior decor is beautiful, comfortable, and in keeping with the architectural 1950's design of the home. It's fun to look at and fun to utilize. The bedding is pretty, whimsical, scrupulously clean and thoughtfully matches the room decor and design. The kitchen is well stocked with everything one needs to cook an elaborate meal, yet is comfortable and casual enough to relax with pancakes and a lake view.
The owners have also stocked games, books and info pertinent to both the area of Flathead Lake and the 1950's 1960's time period of their property. If you don't want to read or play board games, simply sit on the cozy, comfy couches, build a fire and relax to the magnificent views of Flathead Lake and it's surrounding mountains. It's a peaceful and beautiful spot; highly recommended.
We were in town for a wedding and had a fantastic time! Place was very clean, and lots of things to do within walking distance. We would stay here again for sure. Owners are super people to deal with too!
When we arrived at the house on the lake in Polson, MT, we were quite pleasantly surprised. This house is a wonderful example of Mid-century modern in many ways - just the kind of place we love. the kitchen was a completely functioning throwback to the most modern kitchens of the 1950's; and the bathroom was a delight as well. The house is cozy and comfortable, and one you are behind the gate, you do not even get a hint that you are close to the road. The view is spectacular and we fund ourselves eating on the deck a lot. The beds are comfortable, we didn't need air conditioning, and it was convenient to the family events we were participating in. Thanks Craig & Debra for a great job fixing up this house. We loved it!
Very comfortable and well appointed, nothing fancy. Great views, close to town, orchards, lake and river, and state park. Daytrip to Glacier is very doable. We were in town for a family wedding and this suited us perfectly! Unexpected bonus arriving at the height of cherry season. Wonderful hosts!
Craig was very easy to work with and very helpful. The house is just as he describes it and is well set up and equiped. We were 6 adults, my wife and I our daughter and her husband and two college aged daughters. The gilrs loved the Murphy bed and the two bedrooms worked great for us and our daughter. We were tickled with the 50's kitchen and layout, having come of age in that era ourselves. It is a very easy house to enjoy for its view of the lake, the deck and the overall layout of the house. We really enjoyed it.
The area also has art galleries, gift shops, wilderness hiking, and sight seeing on the reservation. Our property has ample parking and bikes on site.
