The cottage was the 'bunk house' for the visiting grandkids of the original Beach house owners. In addition to a large area for the beds there are two closets, a small functional kitchen and full bathroom. A dome centrally located on the ceiling brings in additional light and blinds close to make it darker at night.
This is a rental home maintained and cared for by the owners. We truly want our guests to enjoy their visit.
There is a QUEEN bed and TWIN trundle bed (2 twins) a bathroom with tub/shower; dining table for 4; kitchen with apartment size stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. Plus a patio table, 2 chairs and an outdoor electric BBQ grill. There is Cable TV/DVD and WiFi. There is a pathway to access the beach.
I have been managing our vacation rentals for 10 years.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2003
This is a quiet and peaceful cottage by the ocean. It is wonderful all year around.
Country atmosphere with close access to the city is what makes this property unique. The private tidal beach is an easy access and is wonderful to explore with a low tide.
Since we were in Gig Harbor for a wedding, we didn't actually spend a lot of time at the cottage...but the time we did spend there was very pleasant. It is in a beautiful setting, and it is so quiet and peaceful! The cottage was comfy and cozy - a great little place to get away from it all.

I would NOT RECOMMEND you rent this property or any other from HomeAway. DO NOT expect the landlords to abide by any Rental Agreement you make with them. They have refused to return our damage deposit, there was NO DAMAGE, even tho the Rental Agreement Paragraph 5 states it will be returned. I have contacted HomeAway and they refuse to coordinate this. I have an abundance of communications between myself and the owners regarding this matter. Please feel free to contact me regarding this. I WILL NOT use HomeAway again!!!!!
I really wanted to like this property. My experience didnt start well when the code that was given to me didnt work. The phone call and email went unanswered. Luckily the owner lives next door and was home at the time.
The cottage is in need of a makeover. It had a musty somewhat unpleasant odor, the refrigerator has rust on it and created a puddle. A cabinet knob came off in my hand as did the shower knob. The soap and shampoo that was provided was half empty full sized bottles rather than individual wrapped soaps and shampoo- not a big deal but using somebodys leftover is not what I expected in the "whats provided" part. The screen door had a large hole in it and this property doesnt have AC. It was hot and muggy, the bathroom window would only open a couple inches so it was real hot in there. The property has furniture that is old and worn like the two dusty rose chairs that have been shredded by (presumably) a cat on the back. The kitchen table rocks and turns. There is a need to fill holes in the walls where something was hanging. The sheets were washed but had several stains and we found leaves and a dead bugs ion the trundel bed matress. Overall it looks like a collection of mismatched stuff that was handed down.
So the good points- lots of hot water, a hot water dispenser in the sink, great location with acrazy amound of sea life to look at. Very quiet and peaceful. There is a lot of potential in this property but it needs work and an investment to make it nice.
Tucked in the trees, just steps from the water, this is a perfect spot for a quiet getaway. The cottage is comfortable and roomy. The bed was very comfortable and cozy.
My wife and I enjoyed staying here. Good location in a lovely neighborhood. It's not right on the water; there is a house on the same property between you and the water. But you can walk right down to the beach, which is very nice. The space is accommodating. It was good to stay in a place where there was space to open up suitcases and still have room to move around. Liked the bed. Usable kitchen. That top door lock is tough, keep at it.
We had a wonderful time at this cottage. It was close enough to our family and the touristy things to do in Tacoma, yet far enough way from the freeways and cities to be a quiet getaway. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy most of our stay, so we didn't get to spend much time on the beach. But, the cottage kept us warm and dry. All-in-all, a great value. The only cons were that the exterior door and window screens need a bit of repair and, after an extremely heavy rain, there was, apparently, a sump pump that cycled on every few minutes, which took a bit of getting used to.
Nice place, very quiet location. My wife and I stayed here for the week. We explored the Olympic Peninsula, Mount Rainier and the Pacific Coast. Great location to see much of the Puget Sound area,
