Second stay at Villa Iremia
Our second family stay here. Such a great location with outstanding views from sea to mountains. The villa is well equipped and has had a few small improvements since last year. Lovely space around the pool, a quiet area despite only being a few minutes drive from Lourdas. Owners very helpful too.
Lovely Villa and Location also very clean. Views are superb and the pool is very well maintained ( 1 of the best ). The only small negative would be, a welcome pack with the essentials to see you through the evening and breakfast as we had a late flight would of been a nice touch (would of been happy to pay a bit extra)
Great family villa
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Iremia. Plenty of space for the 5 of us. Very clean & modern with all facilities you could need. Very good location with main shopping only 20 minutes away at Argostoli & Lidl 15. We had a bit of trouble with the electricity but the lovely Alexis (Richard Gere) sorted it out pretty quickly. Lots of friendly & hungry cats which the children would rather like to swap for our dog back home!! Highly recommend.
A lovely villa ! Amazing views
Arriving at this villa myself and the family were delighted the photos really don’t do it justice ! We had a super week the neighbours were really friendly without being at all intrusive the views and the pool are picture perfect ! Inside the villa was clean and spacious all you need to unwind . Great local tavernas that are a must are Enastron , La mar, and Klimatis !!
Villa Iremia is a beautiful place to stay - stunning views of the mountains to the rear, and the sea to the front. We found the villa immaculately clean and well equipped, and within easy reach of some excellent restaurants - our favourites were Andromeda, Olive Lounge and Magic Hill - and Klimatis and Lourdas Mare on the beachfront are well worth a visit too. The beach itself is lovely for an early.mornimg dip, and the pool at the villa was a godsend. The neighbours adorable kitten came to visit on the first evening and every day thereafter - we all loved her - and the neighbours are very friendly too!
The bedrooms are air conditioned which meant that we all slept really well despite the heat, and the villa is cleaned and bed linen changed regularly which is a nice touch (and quite different to what we have come to expect when renting in France and Spain for instance).
My husband managed to drive to the top of the mountain which is approx one mile high and the views were spectacular. We also visited Sami and Assos, both of which are beautiful, as well as Myrtos Beach, Skala and the Drogerati cave which is well worth a visit. We took a boat trip to Zakynthos from Poros and visited the blue caves and the famous "Shipwreck Beach" (which looks quite different from the photos as it gets very busy with boats arriving and dispatching visitors every 5 minutes). Argostoli (the capital and the location of the airport) is about 20 minutes away and is quite pretty - the Italian war memorial just outside the town is peaceful and poignant.
All in all a terrific experience and we can't wait to go back.
Good evening Tina,
Thank you for your review of Villa Iremia, we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and it sounds like you have had a fun packed holiday. We love the location of the villa and agree the views are amazing. Kefalonia is a beautiful island and we hope that you have the opportunity to return soon and thank you for your kind review,
Ian & Lynn
Villa with amazing views
The villa is up one of the numerous narrow steep roads in Kefalonia. I think it is worth mentioning that the drive is very narrow to turn into and we were pleased that we had a small car. However being up a hill, meant the views were gorgeous; sea and Zante to the front and mountains to the rear. The outside space is good with plenty of seating and parasols, and the pool was very clean. While there are other villas nearby, it has been well designed and you are not overlooked.
We are a family of 4 and the size of the villa was good for us, however it may be a bit small for 6 as the bedrooms are fairly compact. The Villa was very clean although in my opinion it is a little dated in the kitchen area. The local Villa manager and his wife were very friendly and extremely helpful during our stay.
Villa Iremia is located within the charming Greek village of Lourdas. Lourdas is located at the bottom of Mount Ainos and enjoys an exceptional micro-climate. The natural vegetation consists of cypress trees, olive and pine trees, but you can also see exotic palm and banana trees. Lourdas bay is on the south coast of Kefalonia and is one of the largest bays of the island and is fringed by over 2 miles of sand and pebble beach. The beach is within 800m walking distance down a steep incline through the village past the famous plane tree and natural spring, but the walk up is only for the fittest! In the village itself there are several restaurants, tavernas and small shops. Argostoli, the capital town 10km away, is a bustling cosmopolitan town with a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Many an evening has been spent in one of the excellent restaurants surrounding the large square watching the exciting entertainment. Here you will find a range of boutiques and designer shops.
