Unique and totally private contemporary house that set on a 3 acres breezy hill top with gorgeous views & private pool, birdwatching paradise, ideal spot location to explore the Cayo district. 2 large bedrooms and one small, 2 baths, 3 large decks and interior garden. Conveniently located only 2 miles away from the main ecotourism hub (San Ignacio town) but it feels like far away . Very high ceilings, cross ventilated rooms, hammocks, lounge chair, garden paths to walk right outside, etc.
We built our dream house property in 2008 and feel it is the best place to live in Belize!
Katia Paradis purchased this house in 2008
The property sets on the top of a breezy hill with a majestic view we never get tired of looking at. It offers the privacy and intimacy of a resort while not being too isolated and close to the groceries store and bustling village life. In fact, we were not the first one to find this location as a premium spot, while building the foundations of the house, we found 2 ancient Mayan foundations laying one on top of another. We believe it is a great property for those who go for the car rental option, preferably a SUV, either in San Ignacio or Belize City and explore the area at their own rhythm without being bound to any schedule. The road access to the house is a dirt path, often bumpy, that gets muddy on rainy season.
On days where everyone complains about heat and humidity and get to our place, they are always surprised by how much more comfortable and cooler it is up there.
Our stay was amazing and the staff was perfect. Our only need was more pool towels. If we decide to come back to Belize with another couple we will absolutely be contacting you. Thank you for sharing your home. We loved our time there.
We spent a few days in San Ignacio touring the area and truly enjoyed our stay. The home was well maintained and exceeded our expectations. The owner and local housekeeper were very accommodating and made us feel truly welcome.
Casa Hill View could not be in a more lovely location. The view from the deck as you have dinner and have had a chance to cool off in the pool is amazing. Rooms were big and spacious. It was very, very clean and in great shape. The road to get there is definitely 4 WD car needed. Especially if it has rained! The kitchen is good but lacked some basic things like a match box with matches in it. There were plenty of cups and dishes, no saran wrap or anything like that. Silly stuff. The coffee pot is a 4 cup Mr. Coffee and the French Press was a bit worn. We got a bit lost getting there and the housekeeper who we were to contact if we got lost speaks no English and I sadly and wrongly so traveling in another country no Spanish. We found it and got a tour of the home in Spanish which fortunately my son understands well enough to get what she was telling us. If not for him, we would have been clueless. Beds were nice, sheets good. It was very nice to have the house cleaned half way through our stay. The pool is great. The porch doors opening into the master bedroom and the breeze was also amazing. We were two adults with 18 and 21 year old sons. Would stay here again, and the owner was amazing in getting back to us all the time, everytime.
We had 7 Californian adults (4 men and 3 women) staying at this fantastic house on a hilll. After driving from the airport and viewing the typical standard of living throughout Belize, we were basically overwhelmed at how perfect this house was, particularly for a group of our size. It does require some dirt road driving with limited signage, but the detailed directions were provided (with pictures) and worked out just beautifully. The house is just a few short minutes from St. Elena and 5 minutes or so from San Ignacio itself. BTW, make sure to take bridge to the north going into San Ignacio and south bridge when coming back, they are one way although we did not see any signage there either.
The house was amazing. Nice pool with great views of the rain forest valley. Sizeable living room and kitchen with all the amenities, with two sizeable bedrooms. Ideal starting point for tours to the ATM caves and Tikal, among many others. Two negatives I would highlight is that the house is not very well sealed from the outdoor eliments, which means two things in the rain forest of Belize, heat and bugs. Only the small additional 3rd bedroom with just a twin bed had AC. Also, being music lovers, it would have been nice to have a sound system set up somewhere in the house. There are no speakers what so ever, which would not be a problem with neighbors because the property is huge and you would struggle to annoy anybody. Besides that, we had an amazing experience.
One final note, the spanish only speaking house keeper greeted us and gave on the house tour and instructions. I enjoy practicing my foreign language skills, but it is strongly recommended to have a spanish speaking person among your group to help clarify any questions/issues.
You barely step foot into this magnificent home when you are swept into a state of tranquility. The house is so closely tied to nature and captures the breathtaking views while offering very comfortable accommodations. Without a doubt, the large glass wall that opens to a very private and relatively large pool and the vastness of the Belize countryside is the focal point. And there is so much attention to detail. There are many strategically placed windows that allow you to glance out at the spectacular views while enjoying all of the comforts of being inside. The home is beautifully decorated and features many pieces of furniture crafted of local wood and art. It adds to the whole experience. Two bedrooms and a large bath are located at one end of the home, and another bedroom and bath are at the opposite end for privacy and quiet. The very well-equipped kitchen and family room are generously sized. The house was very clean and maintained, with proper security to make you feel safe. Every day after we immersed ourselves in the many outdoor activities that Belize has to offer, we’d come back to the house to hop in the pool, cool down and enjoy family time. And I wrapped up every evening by swimming laps under the stars.
Everything about this truly remarkable home says, ‘Sit, relax, take a deep breath, and forget your worries. Rejuvenate and partake in the countless adventures and scenic gems that Belize has to offer.” Casa Hill View is not just a well-appointed home, it’s a work of art.

Because of a mix up with the car rental company, we were late by more than a couple of hours. Consuelo waited patiently for us at the home. She was very kind and showed us all around the house and told us what we needed to do. Despite our limited Spanish and her limited English abilities, we managed to communicate just fine.
We have three teenage boys...two slept in beds and one slept in a hammock every night...not because of limited bedding, but because he genuinely loved the hammocks! They did watch a couple of movies. We all enjoyed the pool after hiking at Xunantunich and Caracol...it was so refreshing! We also used the internet which was a great way to show folks back home where we were staying!
The boys also hiked around the property and even met a gentleman on the road below the home who showed them how to choose coconut and also how to open them. What a great treat for them. All of the neighbors seemed very friendly.
It is a bit of a rough road getting up to the house, but if you're driving in Belize, you know that all of the roads are rough! The directions to get to the house were perfect!
We ate out one night, but decided to buy food at the market and cook at home because we enjoyed the house so much. We also found a tortillaria and got the best corn tortillas and tortilla chips...it's on the way to the market in San Ignacio.
Spent four nights here and then went to Caye Caulker...we did like the house we rented there, but I think we all agreed that this was the BEST! Thank you for a great family vacation home.
The spot was amazing, and fully stocked with all the things you would need to be comfortable, property is well maintained and local dogs were very sweet and adorable, strongly suggest that anyone planning on viewing this area stay at this property.... Thanks guys we had a blast
The house is the ideal spot for all-around adventuring! trails and hiking, medicine trails, archeology, Maya temples including Tikal Guatemala, bird watching, river trips, waterfalls, caving, zip lining, butterfly farms, etc. The house is located 2 miles from downtown San Ignacio where any tour can be organized with an array of choice of tour guides and tour agencies.
