About Madelyn Bonnot Griffin

We live an hour away near Amherst in Sunderland, Ma and also have a home in New Orleans, my home town, that we also rent. Other than our 5 wonderful, grown kids and entertaining our friends & family, exotic travel is our big passion. Curt is a wildlife biologist that brings him to Botswana annually to work on his elephant projects. I am a broadcaster, also fascinated and a student of alternative medicine.

We hope you love our home in Lenox as much as we do! It's lovely, peaceful and fun!

Why Madelyn Bonnot Griffin chose Lenox

After a weekend at Kripalu and visits to the UltraWellness Center, I fell in love with Lenox! Its natural beauty, cultural richness, cosmopolitan flare, interesting residents & great restaurants were captivating. Also, it is a health-conscious community and that is very important to us. We had to be here!

What makes this house unique

Fabulous stay at the Dutch House.

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at the Dutch House for a weekend in October. We were in Lenox for a wedding. Everything was perfect. The house is so cute, homey, well equipped and impeccably clean. We were greeted with a nice bottle of wine and sparkling water courtesy of our hosts. I would highly recommend this home. Hope to come back when we have more time. Madelyn and Curt were a pleasure to deal with great communication.

the home was lovely and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

This home was cozy and comfortable- rooms were nicely decorated and the screened porch was great.

What I missed was sun- the lot is well shaded and not much sun got through - this is neither good or bad- but a matter of preference. I need sun in the morning. I also was looking for more privacy- again a matter of personal preference. Street and neighbor's were close.

The only criticism of the house- was the sofa in the living room- which, while comfortable and spacious- looked a bit tired and unclean. Everything else was immaculate. We did have a wonderful time though.

Owner's Response: Hi Constance, Thank you so much for your review and for choosing our home for your holiday! I'm so sorry that you didn't have enough sun. I'm a sun person too so I do understand but usually we get a good amount. The lot is fairly spacious and somewhat private...sorry that they were too close for you. The sofa is mid century and was recently cleaned. FYI, we are considering replacing the living room seating! Despite this I do hope that you'll consider us again in the future. We do appreciate your input. Thank you again for staying with us! Warmest wishes, Madelyn

Excellent Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here with her sister and brother in law for five nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and were impressed with how perfectly appointed and spotless the place was. We found everything we needed in the kitchen to cook full meals at home. The house is set up for a relaxing vacation with a comfortable living room/dining area, a beautiful screened porch, and the most comfortable beds in both rooms. Every detail was thought through, right down to the exceptional bed linens and towels. Each room was equipped with an air conditioner that was a relief on one particularly humid night.

The location is perfect for exploring Western Mass. My wife and I come to the area at least once a year, and were showing my in laws the area for the first time. It was the perfect base to go off and explore the Hancock Shaker Village, MassMOCA, Great Barrington, the Dreamaway Lodge, and even Storm King Sculpture Park and Dia Beacon in New York State. It was a treat to be within walking distance to the town of Lenox. We almost felt justified in indulging in the amazing pastries at Patisserie Lenox.

I highly recommend the house. Madelyn is a fantastic host and provides a perfect home away from home.

House is very comfortable and tastefully decorated, in a great location: 5 min walk to Lenox (where there are tons of great shops and restaurants) and 20 min walk to Tanglewood. Very responsive and friendly owner. Highly recommend!

Lovely, great location, everything as described

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week and this was a perfect base for the Berkshires - walking distance to Lenox town center. The house was even nicer than we thought it would be, sunny, clean and quiet. The house was well appointed with two bedrooms with queen size beds, a big living room with cable TV and a long couch that could seat 5 people easily, an extra sleeping area with a day bed that was really useful, a lovely screened in patio where we ate breakfast, good A/C, a fully equipped kitchen that we made good use of, a grill (which we didn't use) etc. The host was very responsive by email although this didn't matter much as there were no problems that arose for her to deal with. We would definitely return!

A perfect stay! Highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I travel a lot, and we often rent houses to stay with our friends and kids. Madelyn's house (the Dutch house in the Berkshires) is absolutely perfect! It was spotless and very well decorated! We felt welcomed as if we were staying in a 4 stars hotel! The large living room with a nice dining table and adjacent kitchen made it perfect for long dinner and chat with our friends. The study with a day bed was perfect to use as a bedroom for our 3 year old. The 2 bedrooms upstairs have very comfy beds, in which we slept very well!

The location of the house is perfect, close to everything and yet quiet.

Madelyn gave us tons of good tips about places to eat, to shop, and to visit! She is a wonderful host. If we were to come back to the Berkshires, we would definitely stay at her house again!
