Born of sea and sand, and only 30 minutes from Faro airport, Fuseta is a fishing village with traditional square shaped houses. It offers, not only a golden sandy beach on the lagoon with warm waters in which to swim and snorkel, but also mile upon mile of white sand on the island of Armona, just a few minutes away by ferryboat. Local caught and barbecued seafood, clams cooked in the traditional Portuguese way, beef cooked on a hot stone and monkfish kebabs are just a few of the many delicious dishes served in local restaurants all within easy walking distance of the apartment.
This luxurious and stylish apartment, enjoying unspoiled views across the Ria Formosa Nature reserve, is in a class of its own. There are two double bedrooms, one with a double bed, and the other with two single beds which can be zip-linked into a double, and two sofas in the living area which can also be single beds. One shower room and one bathroom with shower facility.
The designer Italian kitchen has been built by a cook, for cooks, which includes a purified water chiller fountain. There is also a large roof terrace, with spectacular views across the lagoon and out to the ocean. This is accessed by a communal staircase. Luxurious, excellently well equiped flat in superb central location near to all amenities
The flat was exactly as described. the kitchen is very well equiped with lots of pots, pans and dishes enabling home cooking. There is even a nice coffee machine, food processor, electric whisk, washing machine and drier and dishwasher. There is a good sized separate freezer and the fridge is family sized. The two bathrooms were very handy even though just the two of us. Very comfotable lounge with enough seating to spread out and TV programmes in all langages. the owner was superb to deal with - we had asked advance questions about sports facilities and she got back to us very quickly. We got address details well in advance and when we arrived a local agent met us and showed us everything - all very easy. Handover at the end just as easy. The appartment is first line overlooking the lagoon and a 2 min walk to the 'Fuzeta A' train station (5-10 mins to the 'Fuzeta' train station), 5-10 min to the large well stocked supermarket (open 7 days) and seconds/minutes to all the bars and restaurants. Even though we were out of season the supermarket was still open and sufficient bars and restaurants. The Fuzeta market has fruit, veg and fish. The owner has left a very useful pack of information in the flat with train times, local town maps, recommendations for restaurants - we tried all of them and were delighted with the quality of the food.
We took the train to Olhao, Faro, Tavira and Vila Real de Santo Antonio - all very easy and cheap. The Algarve cycle trail passes through the town and we hired bikes in the town (Euro10 per bike for 24 hours) and cycled to Tavira and Santa Luzia . For details of the cycle trail see: http://ecovia-litoral-do-algarve.en.algarve-portal.com/external.php?url=http://euroveloportugal.com/en/route/eurovelo1 . There is also a good kitesurf school in Fuzeta (http://youralgarveadventure.com/kitesurfing-courses/) and it is possible Oct - June to launch off the beach in the town and kite throughout the lagoon - shallow, safe and always somewhere on-shore. The owner of the kite school had a coffee with us and gave us lots of good local information. Swimming in the lagoon is safe, when we were there an area was marked off for swimming. A ferry runs to the fuzeta island (Euro 10 for 2 people return) and as we were out of season we just called and made arranagements for when they would take us and collect us.
This is a superb flat in an excellent location for an active or lazying on the beach kind of a holiday.
Perfectly located apartment with sea views
This 2 bed apartment is luxurious and PERFECTLY located - we couldn't believe how easy it was to walk 5 mins to the lovely beach at Fuseta (one of the best in the Algarve) with a great beach bar for sundowners! If you want to, there's a cute ferry in season which takes you across to the island with miles upon miles of white sand beach all to yourself! It's genuinely one of the best spots my wife and I have ever come across.
I started each morning with a coffee in the charming little square in Fuseta (again, less than 5 mins walk from the apartment), and we often lunched at one of the restaurants on the sidewalk alongside the harbour (6 mins walk) which serve the best, freshest fish you will ever eat, plus salad and potatoes/chips for 10 euros per person. It is... heaven!
The apartment itself is stylishly furnished, with high end Miele appliances and the views from the living room and bedroom are amazing. There are 2 bathrooms (really helpful) and it's on the first floor (about 12 steps up from the front door) so you see out into the lagoon and no one overlooks you. There's a little terrace off the kitchen with a table for eating out and a very handy drying rack for beach clothes, and up on the roof (2 flights of stairs up from the apartment) there's a FANTASTIC private terrace area which has a table, BBQ and sun loungers on. The views are fab, and it's perfect for an evening drink if the range of bars and restaurants 2 mins away seem just too far away....
Oh, and there's a small supermarket 5 mins walk up the street, as well as an amazing fish and veg market every day by the harbour, a real treat if you're a cook like I am. You don't see old-style markets like this much anymore, which is a great shame.
Overall, my wife and I couldn't have been happier here. I didn't take my flip flops off once. HIGHLY recommended!!
This apartment is in one of the best locations in Fuseta, an easy walk to the beach and many restaurants. It is spacious light airy and beautifully equipped. June and Alvaro have both been really helpful to ensure we had a wonderful holiday. The generous welcome pack on arrival was much appreciated. The roof terrace is a super bonus with the most amazing views perfect for our regular early evening cocktails. Many Thanks. Hope to return again next year. Jenny.
We highly recommend this delightful apartment
We loved the quality of furniture and fittings in this spacious apartment.
The views of the Ria Formosa are stunningly beautiful and we enjoyed the space and seclusion of the balcony at the rear.
The style of the apartment, the convenience of the beaches and restaurants made this a delightful stay - can't wait to go again !
It was ok...
The photo you see in this picture is actually on the roof top, not at all off this unit. Not a space you could use for coffee in the morning in your house coats. To get everything you see onto this table would take several flights of stairs up two full stories to a public area
Since my Mother has mobility issues, we did not ever use the roof top. The actual patio that was off this unit looked directly into another building and a parking lot. Being outside people though, it was very disappointing not to have an outside place to sit. It was because of this picture we actually rented this place, so don't be fooled. The pictures are misleading. Fuseta is very noisy at nights with local festivals that went til 2 am, 4 out of the 8 nights we were there. The unit itself was nice and well equipped. We would not consider returning to this unit.
Firstly, let me say how sorry I am that there was a misunderstanding about the roof terrace. There was absolutely no intention to mislead, and to avoid any other possible misunderstanding, I have now made this very clear in the description.
The roof terrace is located on the roof of the building which is two flights of stairs above the apartment. Each apartment has its own walled off area for private use.
This arrangement is normal.
If only, during the many e-mails received from this guest, prior to occupation, she had raised the question of stairs and suitability for a person with restricted mobility, we would not have our first unhappy visitor in eight years.
Quiet respite in the Algarve
What a lovely place to spend a month in the Algarve. The well equipped apartment is in a location that can't be beat with beautiful views of the lagoon, and walking distance to the train and everywhere else in this small fishing village. We loved watching the activity during low tide as people dug and scraped for clams, and seeing the boats, windsurfers, sailboarders, etc. who enjoyed all the lagoon has to offer. The salt flats offered a welcome bike ride or walk where birds and wildflowers were in abundance. The apartment itself was lovely and clean. Communication with the owner and manager was effortless. We cant wait to return!
