|Minimum Stay||6 - 7 nights|
In the heart of Paris, in the Montorgueil-St Denis neighbourhood where life is lived well: traditional restaurants, bakers (croissants, baguettes), 19th century building in dressed stone. Apartment completely refurbished in 2009, situated at 37 rue Greneta Paris 2°, 2nd floor with lift, ideal for a sightseeing or romantic break. The culture and charm of Paris can be appreciated better on foot: the museum of modern art, 'Le Centre Pompidou-Beaubourg', Chatelet-Les Halles, the banks of the Seine, l’Ile de la Cité and 10 min away : Notre Dame and the Louvre museum, not forgetting the luxury boutiques of the Place des Victoires, and the trendy shops of the Marais neighbourhood.
The owners are very nice and obliging and it is good that the apartment can be reached by an elevator. The street is pretty quiet at night and just a short walk to Rue Montorgueil where you can buy all the fresh food you need. The kitchen is a marvel of compact design and very nicely finished. However the top shelves of the cupboards are impossible to reach for a shortish person without standing (unsafely) on a folding chair. The desk in the main bedroom is useful and the door can be closed for privacy. The sofa bed was comfortable but needs to be folded back in the daytime to provide any room to move in the lounge.
The apartment was great for my husband and I. It was in a great location with so many restaurants and shops around. We were able to walk everywhere. In fact, we walked more than 140kms in the 8 days we stayed. It had all the amenities you needed. It was clean and the bed comfortable. Stephane explained everything to us and was available if we needed him. It was nice to have a small computer and printer for printing tickets etc.. There was a great TV and Netflix! This was nice after a long day of exploring the city. The price was very good for Paris. You do have to clean the shower and toilet before you leave. This did not bother us because we prefer leaving a place clean.
The only thing is that we wish the damage deposit had not been charged to our credit card because when it was refunded, it cost us around $50.00 Canadian more (i.e., buying and selling euros is never at the same price). We recommend that they set it up so the damage deposit is simply a hold on funds. If you are European and have a Euro credit card then it is not a problem or if you are comfortable giving cash then that also works.
Regardless, we highly recommend this apartment and would stay again.
This flat is located in a great position near a Metro station and in walking distance of a market and many restaurants, and across the way from the tourist district. The bedroom and fold out sofa provided beds for my husband, daughter and I and the kitchen allowed us to have some meals at the flat. It also includes a washing machine, and we lived for 5 days like Parisians away from the museum rush on the left bank. But the flat owner, Andre, was the star of our trip. We left a bag on the RER train on way to airport, and it had our passports, camera and cell phone in it. Some honest soul found it and called Andre from the reservation info I had left in the bag. Andre let us know the bag was found, emailed us the info on how to retrieve bag, and sent the finder to our hotel with our bag the next morning. (Without our passports, we had missed our flight and the American Embassy is closed on Sundays.) He translated on phone to the bag finder, who only spoke French, and with us, who only speak English. This whole process took two days after we checked out from Andre's flat. Without Andre, the bag and its contents would have been lost. He refused to take payment for his courtesy and was very kind and responsive during our emergency. Although we reported the loss to the police, and bag finder did the same, we would not have gotten it back as quickly if at all! Andre went above and beyond in customer service and kindness to us. He even sent the finder some chocolates as a thank you for helping us and refused to take payment for that as well. He is a real class act. Please use this review as a caution to watch your bag on the RER and be sure not to leave anything on the seat!
The price for the location can't be beat. This was our first experience with VRBO and we were very pleased with the process and emailing with Yves, (even with language barrier) was easy. The apartment is a fantastic location on a quiet street but only a few short blocks from major shopping, restaurants, sites, and 2 Metro stations. It was very comfortable for the two of us, most apartments we looked at online looked to be quite small and we wanted to be sure we had a real bed that we didn't have to stand on to get to the fridge! This place fit the bill with a separate bedroom. A big plus for us was wi-fi AND a small laptop was even provided for our use. Travelers be warned, the bathroom is small and the shower difficult to get in and out of so if you are a large person or have mobility issues it could be a problem and the tile is very slippery when wet! We loved having a "home base", and even though wanted to experience all of the Paris "cafe culture" it was nice to be able to also make our own coffee and have some light meals in our little kitchen. Stephane was there promptly to both greet us and bid us farewell, and only a phone call away if we had a question. Highly recommend this property and it's owners!
We had a very enjoyable stay at this address. It was in a very good location with metro stations within 3-5 minutes walk from the door. The appartment was well situated and we were able to walk everywhere. Cafe's and brasseries, again mulitple choices within 2-3 munites walk.(Rue Montorgueil and Rue St Denis). Andre's son Stephaine was there to meet us when we arrived at appartment, with keys and to show us arround the appartment which was well eqiped. We would have loved to stay longer. Would reccomend this place to other travelers who are staying longer than 3 days. We stayed for 9 days. Thank you Andre for renting your place in Paris. We hope to come back again.
