About the property

Beautiful Log Cabin - Pet Friendly, too!

Just Breathe.... Our privately owned and managed smoke free pine planked log cabin, Listen to the Creek, is located in the Trout Capital of GA just 90 minutes north of Atlanta, 90 minutes southeast of Chattanooga, and 30 minutes from Murphy, NC. and 35 minutes from HARRAH's CASINO! Tucked in McCaysville, GA and nestled quietly in the woods on one acre surrounded by ferns and seasonal views of one of the best GA trout fishing streams (some say it is as big as a river), Fightingtown Creek. The creek is not directly on our property....Walk 350 feet down drive and private road to the 8 x 10 ft dock shaded by trees and where the huge trout wait for your hook! Start your morning with coffee and a cool mountain breeze in a rocking chair on the screened porch or wrap around porch. Sit at the table at lunch and watch deer wonder by the window. At dusk, watch the sun set over the tree tops from the swing and rocking chairs on the porch or count the stars while roasting s’mores around the fire pit.

Relax in the 6 person Hot Tub while listening to the creek!

True to its name “Listen to the Creek” is a great relaxing retreat in the mountains with all the comforts of home. Entering on the open main level, you find a cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace (great for a romantic evening), a dining area, and fully equipped kitchen with granite and with place settings for more than 8. Open floor plan makes viewing the 32' flatscreen TV equipped with Direct TV- enjoyable for everyone in the kitchen and family room. Cabin has 2 bedrooms and a loft closet area kids love to make forts in, plus two bathrooms with granite and beautiful flagstone floors. One bedroom with a queen is on the main level with 32" flat screen and stairs lead to the second floor room with a full bed, private screened porch with sunrise views and full bath. Fully equipped washer and dryer closet is also available for your convenience.

“Listen to the Creek” is close to historic downtown Blue Ridge, Lake Blue Ridge and the Toccoa/Ocoee Rivers - Only 11 miles from the Olympic Whitewater site! About Terri Teems

My husband and I bought this beautiful cabin in 2007. We absolutely love it but find we can't go up as often as we like. So after much nudging from our friends that vacation there regularly we were convinced to share our little piece of serenity with the world!

Terri Teems purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Terri Teems chose North Georgia Mountains

This log cabin is tucked in the woods. You'll feel like you are deep in the wilderness but yet you are only 3 miles from a cute mountain town with restaurants, shopping, and a grocery!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Terri,

I wanted to let you know we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the cabin! I met up with my cousin and a friend of ours for a much needed girls weekend. Exploring all the small towns, shopping and eating, and then coming back to relax at the cabin is just what we needed to recharge. It was so clean and had everything we could need and more. Thank you for providing such a wonderful spot to get away!

Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My family and I absolutely loved the cabin. Had a little problem early morning with the kitchen sink. I woke up and it was barely dripping. Texted the owner and they got right on it. :) We loved the sound of the creek after a long busy day. Loved sitting on the back porch while the kids enjoyed the hot tub. Overall an amazing experience. Can't wait to go back.

Family Day

  • 3 of 5

Our group is consist of 6 adults, a 4yrold & a 7month old. This place is as described, you can definitely hear the creek from the back porch. It is quiet and private. The family enjoyed our stay because it was relaxing and we got to spend time together.

I want to give an honest and fair review about this place. I am very thankful that Terri (the owner) was responsive and fair when an issue arised.

A few tips, 1st tip: this place is so private that a GPS will only take you up to a certain point and then you will just have to rely and follow the directions from the owner. Don't miss a turn!! We drove our Mini-van for this trip, missed a turn and went the wrong way. Hubby decided to back up on the first driveway he found, not realizing that it was steep, I thought we will not get out of that driveway. So don't miss the turn!

2nd tip: If you are considering this place for fishing, I'm sorry but it didn't have the best access to the creek. This trip was planned son that hubby can enjoy fishing while I hangout in the cabin with my daughter. But he said that the way to the creek is covered with poison ivy, so he tried a few times and gave up. But he enjoyed hanging out with his girls :)

The reason I gave this a 3-star is because the cabin was not very clean. My understanding is that the group that rented the cabin before us brought a dog, so the cabin has a lot of dog hairs. I am not sure what happened, but the cleaners were not thorough with their cleaning. We ended up sweeping the floor and change/washed the bed sheets, because I have an Infant that likes to be on the floor. In fairness to Terri, when I told her the issue, it was addressed and she was fair In her decision. Terri was also very accommodating when I asked for an early check-in.

Also, FYI, there are only 2 rooms that has queen size beds. One on the 1st floor and the other one is the loft. My sister and brother in law stayed on the 1st floor, while our family of 3 stayed at the loft. My father in law slept on the sofa in the living room and my mother In law with my 4yr old niece stayed in an "attic-like" room at the loft. It is high enough to sit inside and lay down.

My in-laws really enjoyed our vacation, they felt really relaxed. Overall I recommend the place if you want to relax and have a private and quiet vacation. Enjoy your stay!

Clean and comfortable, off the beaten path

  • 4 of 5

The property is a little less accessible than I would have preferred, but it is well kept, clean, and comfortable. It's a very steep property which was hard on my wife and child getting to/from the water, but not terribly so. I would stay there again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing Listen to the Creek. We are very pleased you enjoyed the cabin. The cabin is in the Blue Ridge Mountains and therefore there are a couple of hills getting to the cabin. It is part of the mountain adventure! Thank you again staying at listen to the creek and we welcome you back any time.

Sweet cozy cabin with all the amenities needed!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and beagle and I were able to stay at this lovely cabin for a few days. It rained most of the time we were there, but this is the perfect cabin to stay sequestered away in. We relaxed in the hot tub, made some great meals with their amazing kitchen, read some books and watched some movies on the comfy sofas in the living room. We appreciated the owners' flexibility for our schedule, as well as the chance to get away to a nice, clean space. It was an added bonus that they allowed our dog to come with us! We will definitely consider staying here again.

Wonderful & Woodsy, Nice for R&R!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin and it was perfect for our family. A little off the beaten path so perfect for relaxing by the fire or in the hot tub and grilling out. Once you turn off the main road, use the owners directions instead of GPS. Road names are clearly marked. Take your time on the gravel roads. Beautiful setting inside and out!

Our cabin is located in the quaint town of McCaysville where the Blue Ridge train visits most days. Fish off the private dock on one of the best trout streams in GA, Fightingtown Creek, or simply launch a tube off of the dock for a 2 1/2 hour leisurely ride down the creek.

Relax on one of the 3 Decks or soak in the Hot Tub while listening to the creek and watching for wildlife in the woods.
