North Georgia Mountains Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Check out our 5 star reviews!!

Just Breathe.... Our privately owned and managed smoke free pine planked log cabin, Listen to the Creek, is located in the Trout Capital of GA just 90 minutes north of Atlanta, 90 minutes southeast of Chattanooga, and 30 minutes from Murphy, NC. and NEW HARRAH's CASINO! Tucked in McCaysville, GA and nestled quietly in the woods on one acre surrounded by ferns and seasonal views of one of the best GA trout fishing streams (some say it is as big as a river), Fightingtown Creek. Walk 300 feet down drive and road to the 8 x 10 ft dock shaded by trees and where the huge trout wait for your hook! Start your morning with coffee and a cool mountain breeze in a rocking chair on the screened porch or wrap around porch. Sit at the table at lunch and watch deer wonder by the window. At dusk, watch the sun set over the tree tops from the swing and rocking chairs on the porch or count the stars while roasting s’mores around the fire pit.

Relax in the Hot Tub while listening to the creek!

True to its name “Listen to the Creek” is a great relaxing retreat in the mountains with all the comforts of home. Entering on the open main level, you find a cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace (great for a romantic evening), a dining area, and fully equipped kitchen with granite and with place settings for more than 8. Open floor plan makes viewing the 32' flatscreen TV equipped with cable ( and a dvd player enjoyable for everyone in the kitchen and family room. Cabin has 2 bedrooms and a loft area kids love to make forts in, plus two bathrooms with granite and beautiful flagstone floors. One bedroom with a queen is on the main level and stairs lead to the second floor room with a full bed, private screened porch with sunrise views and full bath. Fully equipped washer and dryer closet is also available for your convenience.

“Listen to the Creek” is close to historic downtown Blue Ridge, Lake Blue Ridge and the Toccoa/Ocoee Rivers - Only 11 miles from the Olympic Whitewater site! You can go kayaking, rafting, or canoeing on the river; ski and fish in the lake; ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad, go horseback riding, Zip-line at Zip Line Canopy Tours, visit Bert’s Pumpkin Farm, Merciers Apple Orchard, or the Swan Drive in Movie Theatre - plays first run movies and usually a double feature. There are also local golf courses in the area for your enjoyment

The cabin is well equipped not only for essential living but for fun too! Life jackets for the creek and river are also provided for use at your risk. No need to bring movies or a book. There is a small library of books, movies and games to enjoy too!

Whether you want a romantic weekend getaway, a family vacation, or a long weekend with friends, “Listen to the Creek” will provide memories of great secluded mountain getaway for years to come.

* Note the cabin is located in the mountains and there is an approximate 15 % degree incline gravel driveway. The driveway is bumpy but most cars have no issues unless there has been excessive rain. We drove a Honda Civic Hybrid up to it daily for a year with no issues.

About Terri Teems

My husband and I bought this beautiful cabin in 2007. We absolutely love it but find we can't go up as often as we like. So after much nudging from our friends that vacation there regularly we were convinced to share our little piece of serenity with the world!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Terri,

I wanted to let you know we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the cabin! I met up with my cousin and a friend of ours for a much needed girls weekend. Exploring all the small towns, shopping and eating, and then coming back to relax at the cabin is just what we needed to recharge. It was so clean and had everything we could need and more. Thank you for providing such a wonderful spot to get away!

Beautiful quiet location

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location of the cabin, being out of town away from traffic of the July 4th weekend. Loved all the shade from the mountain elevation.

Beautifully furnished and very comfortable for us and our pets. Everything and more than we needed -- didn't try the hot tub!

Enjoyed the short walk down to the river. Husband tried to catch the trout a short while but no luck in late afternoon. Maybe morning they would be more hungry.

Went to La Habanero for lunch one day and brought home barbecue for another. Both very good. Also enjoyed our visit to nearby Merciers orchards where we purchased chocolate and caramel covered apples, bread, and some jelly. Merciers sure has grown over the last several years.

Thanks so much to the Teems family for sharing your cabin.

Great place to relax!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin in McCaysville. The area was close enough to town to get anything you need, but far enough away to have some privacy and enjoy the woods and creek. I would definitely stay here again and enjoy the outdoor fun :)

We had great family time

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was just as described in the information provided by the owner. The house is close to grocery in McCaysville, you do need to bring bottled water. We took the owners suggestion and rented inflatable kayaks and went for the 3 mile float down the Toccoa River, that was very pretty and relaxing, the water was low and slow that day, we wanted to go whitewater rafting but you can't do that on the Ocoee on Tues and Wed. We went zip lining in Blue Ridge, which was beautiful, fun, safe and professional and we played golf at Copper Basin Golf Club which was a great course for my sons who had never played a full round of golf. All these activities were within 20-30 minutes from the house. Sleeping arrangements at the house were: my husband and I downstairs, my 19 yr old son in double bed upstairs and my 14 yr old son in the extra space, his mattress/mat was on the floor but very comfortable. I think sleeping would be tight for any more than 4 people unless the children were small. At night we walked down the driveway to a more open space and looked at the star filled sky. It was nice having the Fightingtown Creek so close but we did not catch any fish, nor did we even see any fish, maybe because the dam was closed. Overall I loved the location of the house and it was clean, nicely decorated, well furnished (i.e., towels, games, kitchen ware, etc) and comfortable.

Quiet and Peaceful

  • 4 of 5

My family and I chose this place because it was a convenient drive to the rafting company Rolling Thunder. The place was well equiped with the necessities as mentioned in other reviews. It's roomy enough for a family or possibly two small families. Definetly bring drinking water unless your use to drinking hard well water. There's two beds as mentioned and the fold out couch. The couch is not a full size but a foam foldup twin size maybe. The drive way up to the house was definetly a negative but for the price and location it was a trade. The walk back and forth to the fishing dock was a bit much for the little ones another trade off but they really enjoyed playing in the water. We enjoyed the peace and quiet the cabin offered. Having the Movies. Books, and Cable was a nice bonus too. Terri was great to work with and was very accommodating.

Long weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

Terri was a dream to communicate with for everything. She was very thorough in providing us with ample information about the cabin and surrounding area activities and restaurants to try, but otherwise was very hands off, allowing us to really relax and enjoy the cabin. We had a minor issue with the hot tub, as the hot tub service decided to come in the middle of our stay instead of beforehand like Terri had scheduled. We informed Terri of what was going on, more so to keep her in the loop and since we were losing almost a whole day with the hot tub (took over an hour to drain and service and another 4+ hours to reheat), she so graciously comped us a night’s stay. The cabin was perfect for 2-4 people and we loved being able to have our dogs with us as well. The kitchen was stocked, there were plenty of towels in the bathrooms and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The decks were awesome and the gas fire pit was perfect for s’mores. The cabin is exactly what you see in the pictures. We will definitely be returning again soon. Thank you Terri!!

Beautiful, awesome

  • 5 of 5

We stayed three nights and the cabin was absolutely wonderful. We had everything we needed. Terri was right on the money to respond. We loved fishing from the community dock and even caught dinner one night. The hot tub was a welcome rest the first night and the outside fire ring was welcoming and warming in the cool night air. The cabin is fairly close to everything and yet, far enough out to enjoy the quiet and stillness. All the towns people were just awesome to talk with. We saw deer, possum and fish and heard geese and birds waking up with the world.

Thank you Terri and Darryl.

Our cabin is located in the quaint town of McCaysville where the Blue Ridge train visits most days. Fish off the private dock on one of the best trout streams in GA, Fightingtown Creek, or simply launch one of the provided tubes off of the dock for a 2 1/2 hour leisurely ride down the creek.

Relax on one of the 3 Decks or soak in the Hot Tub while listening to the creek and looking into the woods.
