McCaysville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Check out our 5 star reviews!!

*** New Paved Driveway Nov 2nd!!!***

Just Breathe.... Our privately owned and managed smoke free pine planked log cabin, Listen to the Creek, is located in the Trout Capital of GA just 90 minutes north of Atlanta, 90 minutes southeast of Chattanooga, and 30 minutes from Murphy, NC. and NEW HARRAH's CASINO! Tucked in McCaysville, GA and nestled quietly in the woods on one acre surrounded by ferns and seasonal views of one of the best GA trout fishing streams (some say it is as big as a river), Fightingtown Creek. Walk 300 feet down drive and road to the 8 x 10 ft dock shaded by trees and where the huge trout wait for your hook! Start your morning with coffee and a cool mountain breeze in a rocking chair on the screened porch or wrap around porch. Sit at the table at lunch and watch deer wonder by the window. At dusk, watch the sun set over the tree tops from the swing and rocking chairs on the porch or count the stars while roasting s’mores around the fire pit.

Relax in the Hot Tub while listening to the creek!

True to its name “Listen to the Creek” is a great relaxing retreat in the mountains with all the comforts of home. Entering on the open main level, you find a cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace (great for a romantic evening), a dining area, and fully equipped kitchen with granite and with place settings for more than 8. Open floor plan makes viewing the 32' flatscreen TV equipped with cable ( and a dvd player enjoyable for everyone in the kitchen and family room. Cabin has 2 bedrooms and a loft area kids love to make forts in, plus two bathrooms with granite and beautiful flagstone floors. One bedroom with a queen is on the main level and stairs lead to the second floor room with a full bed, private screened porch with sunrise views and full bath. Fully equipped washer and dryer closet is also available for your convenience.

“Listen to the Creek” is close to historic downtown Blue Ridge, Lake Blue Ridge and the Toccoa/Ocoee Rivers - Only 11 miles from the Olympic Whitewater site! You can go kayaking, rafting, or canoeing on the river; ski and fish in the lake; ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad, go horseback riding, Zip-line at Zip Line Canopy Tours, visit Bert’s Pumpkin Farm, Merciers Apple Orchard, or the Swan Drive in Movie Theatre - plays first run movies and usually a double feature. There are also local golf courses in the area for your enjoyment

The cabin is well equipped not only for essential living but for fun too! Life jackets for the creek and river are also provided for use at your risk. No need to bring movies or a book. There is a small library of books, movies and games to enjoy too!

Whether you want a romantic weekend getaway, a family vacation, or a long weekend with friends, “Listen to the Creek” will provide memories of great secluded mountain getaway for years to come.

* Note the cabin is located in the mountains and there is an approximate 15 % degree incline gravel driveway. The driveway is bumpy but most cars have no issues unless there has been excessive rain. We drove a Honda Civic Hybrid up to it daily for a year with no issues.

About Terri Teems

My husband and I bought this beautiful cabin in 2007. We absolutely love it but find we can't go up as often as we like. So after much nudging from our friends that vacation there regularly we were convinced to share our little piece of serenity with the world!

Guestbook comments from the owner

I wanted to let you know we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the cabin! I met up with my cousin and a friend of ours for a much needed girls weekend. Exploring all the small towns, shopping and eating, and then coming back to relax at the cabin is just what we needed to recharge. It was so clean and had everything we could need and more. Thank you for providing such a wonderful spot to get away!

Beautiful!! Great privacy, surrounded by trees and nature. If you have a truck bring it for the driveway and stay to the left. If not we took our Kia Soul and stayed to the left and we were ok. Great creek access and just overall great stay.

Peaceful relaxation

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay at Listen to the Creek. It has the most well-stocked kitchen I have ever seen in all my travels. Wonderfully comfortable beds, clean; just a very pleasant atmosphere. The deck on the top floor is wonderful for late evenings and early mornings. The hot tub was enjoyable and the large deck and porch swing was relaxing. Would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway from the real world. The driveway is an adventure! Not sure if a car could get up; thank goodness we had our truck! The owners were very helpful and patient when us technically-challenged guests could not figure out the TV! Thank you Terri and Darryl for sharing your cabin!

Very Comfortable Home

  • 5 of 5

This was our 2nd stay at this cabin. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked and the cabin is warm and inviting. We stayed with our family and had a wonderful time. The cabin is well stocked with games and DVDs. The hot tub is perfect for a relaxing dip. We did a float on the Ocoee with Rolling Thunder, ask for James, he is a great guide. We had a little problem getting the TV to work but Terri helped us and we were watching the Olympics in no time. Our two year old Grandson enjoyed throwing rocks in the creek and walking the dirt road. If we are in the area we will stay here again.

clean, quiet, great space for a weekend away

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our time at the cabin. The driveway was difficult to maneuver and even driving around the area was tough. Thankfully we had an SUV which got us through some rough roads. The cabin was clean and very quiet. We enjoyed our time and did not venture too far out except to the dock to try to fish. Wish we could have stayed longer and done some rafting! Thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The weather was perfect, only rained while we were sleeping! The climb up to the cabin was a bit scary but we had 4-wheel drive. Everything we needed, but food, was at the cabin. The hot tub was great and we enjoyed cooking out two of the three nights we were there. The only thing my husband was disappointed in was not seeing any wildlife but that was ok with me. Really didn't want to see a bear on my back deck! Thank you Terri & Darryl for sharing your vacation home with us. We will definitely keep you in mind for our next vacation!

The rental was as described. The cabin was clean. The hill down to the creek was steep.

We stayed because of the trout fishing reputation. It was disappointing that all the creek is private property so you only had access from the dock. There were 7-8 large trout in the pool in front of the dock that didn't seem interested in anything in my tackle box. A neighbor said there are feeders all up and down the creek so the trout don't appear to be hungry. Caught several rock bass and suckers. On the last cast of our stay, I made a "Hail Mary" cast with a whole, large nightcrawler with no weight or bobber. I got a savage hit and after a battle, landed a nice, fat 18" rainbow trout. You might try that on the first cast.

Our cabin is located in the quaint town of McCaysville where the Blue Ridge train visits most days. Fish off the private dock on one of the best trout streams in GA, Fightingtown Creek, or simply launch one of the provided tubes off of the dock for a 2 1/2 hour leisurely ride down the creek.

Relax on one of the 3 Decks or soak in the Hot Tub while listening to the creek and looking into the woods.
