Come and see for yourselves - see photos!
They way life should be - just watching the tide come in and out!
We had an amazing stay with two sets of in-laws, and their children, and their tiny grandchild! This cabin has two living areas, one on each floor, to give sets of families little spaces to tuck away and hang out. We found this especially wonderful when our 18 month old would go to bed downstairs in the bedroom, and all of the adults retreated upstairs to hang out and stay up later but reduce noise from waking up the baby! The views are spectacular, and the small set of stairs down to the tiny beach was just perfect for sipping drinks and dipping in the chilly water! The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was updated and just right for cooking several meals in, and also a great location for walking to the couple restaurants that are so great to visit on Bailey Island. I don't think I could have found a better location, and the property managers were absolutely wonderful! It was so lovely, we'll be coming back to this cabin for our bi-annual "reunions"!
If you're debating on what house to rent in Maine...stop, this is it. We were 6 adults on vacation from NYC and this fit our needs perfectly. The house is huge! and has everything you could hope for. The porches alone are worth the stay, but you can also grab the deck chairs and sit by the ocean which is right there!!! We loved the back patio with the big picnic table with a grill. I have nothing but good things to say about this place and Jane who was lovely to work with and answered all my questions.
Bailey island is so cute and quaint and if you do stay here I recommend all things baked from the Salt Cod Cafe which is just 3 min down the road. A blueberry muffin with butter and a cup of coffee sitting on the deck overlooking the ocean is euphoric.
This was our first trip to Bailey Island and we could not have found a better place. The house was cozy and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us. The kids loved the upstairs room with the futon and TV, and there were plenty of games and puzzles to do. The views are fantastic! I loved the upstairs porch with the settee and waking up to the sound of the ocean and the gulls flying around the lobster boats. The kitchen had everything we needed except a grill for pancakes. Also, a clothes line or more hooks for wet suits and towels would be great.
The island itself is lovely and quiet but there is plenty to do and see. We hiked the Devils Back with the kids and my 87 year old mother. Perfect hike on a perfect day! The beach in front of the house is a great spot to sit or collect sea glass. The swimming was wonderful at either tide, but incoming was the most fun with the waves. Boogy boards recommended for even more fun! The front lawn was great for the kids to play games on, and the tree provides enough shade when you need a break from the sun but still want to be near the water.
Thank you to our hosts, Jane and Paul, for helping us get settled in the house and for being two of the nicest people I have met. Hope to see you again next year!
This house is in a quiet area on what feels like a safe family oriented neighborhood. The walk from the porch to the beach was exactly what someone sick of the Cape Cod pack-the-car each day experience needed to really relax. The water was refreshing and clear as can be. The tidal pools were great for the kids. The house has a great layout for a family. I would recommend the house to anyone.
My family ended up staying here because of weather back home. We had never heard of Bailey Island and there were no reviews of this house so we were apprehensive but now we say we made lemonade out of lemons. The house was perfect for us, two kids and two adults.
Jane made us feel at home right away and helped answer all of our questions. The island has a very nice atmosphere with a great community.
We can't wait to go back next year.
