We searched for a number of years to find the ideal deep water property in Savannah. We lived in the dockhouse for 3 years, and still live in the same neighborhood.
The amazing waterfront views from inside the dockhouse and from the dock sold us on the property. Relaxing and eating on the dock with the ocean breezes, all set in a quiet residential neighborhood, made us feel like we were on vacation all the time!
Not very private. Dock was shared during time spent their. Survey workers worked around property for one entire day. Master Bedroom bed was terribly uncomfortable.
From beginning to end this was an incredible place to stay! The owners were amazingly kind and generous. The home was stunning as well as the view and we enjoyed the walk out to the dock several times a day. We went for our daughters graduation and although she is moving back to California with us we will probably go back to vacation at this home because it was such a fantastic experience!
Vintage cottage decorated with love, spotlessly clean and a dock that provides for solitary reflection on the waterways of low country. 10 large windows in the living room on the water is like living on a yacht with none of the inconveniences. If you love vintage buildings, this is a must and you are in peaceful surroundings yet close to all you want to see. Master bedroom closes off completely. Other sleeping area on second floor is a loft open to the stairs. Younger kids (our 15 year old) will want to be on the sofa bed by the TV downstairs. The owners are most welcoming and turn up your Johnny Mercer songs and enjoy the experience of a "moon river" outside your door. Charming in every way. We will be back!
Charming older cottage on the water with great character. Easy to relax and enjoy the Wilmington Island lifestyle. We had dinner one evening on the dock at the end of the pier as the sun set - a lovely evening. Overall a very nice cottage with graceful hosts.
This is the second time I've stayed at Bob and Wanda's rental, who are two very welcoming and friendly people by the way. This home has an awesome view and is only a short 20 minute drive to Downtown Savnnah. The home is cozy and clean and is a perfect little house to lounge around in if the weather is nasty out. If the weather is nice, take advantage of the kayaks the home has to offer! We love this rental and would recommend it to anyone!
We had an absolutely wonderful time in this cottage on the beautiful Wilmington River. The view was outstanding and the accommodations were perfect for us. We generally stay in the historic area, but were unable to find anything with two bedrooms for this stay and wound up on Wilmington Island. So glad we found this place. Wanda was right there for anything we might need. The living area was huge - perfect for us to have our daughter and her family over for a couple of meals. We had a great time sitting out on the dock watching our grandson fish while the dolphins played not far from the dock and the sun set over the water. So beautiful!
Great location on the edge of the beautiful Wilmington River (intra-coastal waterway). Relax in a delightful cottage built in the 1930's and completely remodeled in 2012. Hardwood floors throughout the house with an awesome close-up waterfront view from every room. A spacious living room, separate dining room, fully equipped kitchen and two bedrooms offer you a home away from home. Enjoy an updated bathroom. Cook your fish or steaks on the convenient outdoor grill under the large covered porch while the ocean breeze reminds you that you are on vacation. Or save your appetite for a low country boil on your dock that you share only with the family in main house. Plenty of room for vacation meals inside the house, on the porch or on the dock.
This perfect location between Savannah and Tybee Island means you are only 10 miles from historic downtown and 10 miles to Tybee.
You can fish off the dock or catch blue crabs right off the dock and cook them on the dock in the cooker provided. You can relax in the sun or swim in the river. You will have lots of room on the dock for sunbathing and a large covered area for picnics and reading that book you have been eager to read. Bring your own boat and tie up to the dock - you will be ready to take advantage of the great fishing in the area.
Cast off your boat at the dock and you can be in the ocean or playing in the sand on a secluded, barrier island beach in minutes. Collect seashells and walk on the beaches. No big crowds on these beaches that you can only reach by boat! Or you can fish for trout or bass in the rivers and marshes. Cook your own fresh fish some evenings and enjoy the fine restaurants on Wilmington Island
and, downtown Savannah or Tybee Island other evenings.
You will want to be at the cottage and dock at least one evening for the beautiful sunset.
For the golfers, The Wilmington Plantation Golf Club is located a quarter mile away. Another option is to take your boat across the river to Priest's Landing, dock the boat and play at The Landings on Skidaway Island (or you may choose to drive).
We have information for you on kayak rentals, dolphin and river excursions and inshore and offshore charter fishing, and barrier island tours.
We're sure you will have so much fun that you will want to return to this location for more getaways!
