Lou Ann West, Solutions For You, LLC purchased this house in 1975
Breath taking views, ever-changing landscapes, waterfront, sandy beach, fire pit outdoors.
2 miles south of the lighthouse, with walking trails, boating, swimming etc. So much more than just 'up north'.
Jones Point, named after the owners, has been in the same family for all of its 37 years. The house was carefully nestled into the land so the natural beauty was left as undisturbed as possible. After discovering this beautiful area with its ever-changing landscapes, the owners happily welcomed friends and family to come and share this wonderful place that they love so very much. Evidence of another love, classic cars, can be found throughout the home. Three beautiful sitting areas all have spectacular views of West Grand Traverse Bay.
We have had a tough year and my adult daughter did not want to celebrate either Thanksgiving or Christmas at our home. No stockings, no presents, no tree, no meal with what was left of our family. We all understood and decided to try something completely different. I messed around until 2 weeks before Christmas. Desperate, I decided I was going to find a place in one evening. I went through VRBO and found several. While I was still searching, I received a call from Lou Ann. Feeling a little uncomfortable, I explained our situation. She told me she thought she had the perfect place. It was... This could be a really long story but I will tell you that Lou Ann, the home, the area, the small towns close to the home plus Traverse City, and the owner have helped us begin to recover, heal, and have truly a wonderful Christmas. When we arrived, it was dark so we couldn't see the beach area very well. We were greeted with a beautiful live Christmas tree that only Santa's elves could have set up so nicely. The home is large and beautiful and very clean. Each room is decorated with obvious love and care. The fireplace is gorgeous in the living room and another downstairs in the family room. There are interesting books to read, cards to play, large screen tv in the basement to enjoy. The kitchen is very handsome with all the amenities plus a double oven, a nice small bar, a handy pantry and a beautiful kitchen table with another tv, so the chef can cook and watch the sports games. Now on to the wintertime Lake Michigan beach. No problem with it being cold and snowy, the beach is wide, clean, and stunning. We saw four white swans enjoying the water as if it was summer, right in front of the house. The view from the house out to the beach is breathtaking. There is a wonderful deck that a large family could spend in the summer relaxing on. All the pine trees in the woods, with the intense smell of pine, behind the house were like a step back in time. We enjoyed a sleigh ride at a place recommended by Lou Ann. It was outstanding with hot chocholate at the top of the hill in a cabin to take off the chill. We ate wonderful hamburgers AND dessert at a place called Happy Hour on the way home. If I am too bubbly about this place, it's because it is truly a special place. Each one of us felt that we were given extra care by Lou Ann, the owner, and truly surrounded by beautiful God's country. I would recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a home away from home.
Our family has spent the last two 4th of July weeks at Jones Point, 6 adults and 4 grand kids ages 13 to 21. We've thoroughly enjoyed our stays and found the home very clean and having all of the amenities we required for the week. Walking the beach searching for Petoskey Stones, kayaking, fishing and day trips to Leland, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Traverse City, etc., were enjoyed by all, and the Northport fireworks were the highlight of the week. Our favorite spot in the home was the screened in porch where much time was spent discussing our family history, telling tall tales or just reading a good book. Great location.
We rented this home based on the pictures and description of the beach. When we arrived, the sand was completely eroded back to 3 foot tall beach grasses. There were small openings in the grasses where you could walk on rocks to enter the water, which was rocky several feet out. We were traveling with our young children and ended up making daily day trips to local beaches to play in sand and the lake, which was extremely disappointing. We paid much more than comparable homes that were not beach front with the expectation that we would be able to spend time at the beach on the water's edge.
Also, this home was listed as pet-free and when we arrived (after a 5 hour drive) we found dog hair everywhere. My 5 year old is asthmatic. When we contacted the property manager, she said that if we had informed her beforehand of our daughter's asthma, she could have canceled our stay when she knew the previous occupants had a dog! That would have left us 5 hours from home with no place to stay during our planned vacation. The property manager said that the dog hair must have been from a previous renter, but the wood floors showed evidence of long term dog presence. And the vacuum was already full of dog hair when we emptied it.
We were also surprised by the lack of laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, dish soap. And finding random refuse from the previous occupants (cheese wrappers/contact cases in corners, etc.). The house was not thoroughly cleaned before our arrival.
The rest of the house was as pictured/expected.
As advertised, good spot, good beach and Lou Ann was easy to work with
Our large family of 13 spent a fabulous week in this charming home. The combination of rustic wooden beams, wood and stone added to the character and beauty of this home. There was plenty of space for all of us to relax, spread out and enjoy ourselves. The beach was by far our favorite place! We spent hours enjoying the lake, digging in the sand, flying kites and relaxing. When we weren't at the lake we spent time sightseeing and traveling to the lighthouse, farmers markets, and sand dunes. Great vacation spot!
Having visited the Leelanau Peninsula many times in my childhood, I chose it to celebrate my 50th birthday with family! The house was ideal for me and my husband, our two kids and significant others and our moms. Their is plenty of living space to spread out and just hang out, yet still have privacy. My husband and I enjoyed the privacy of the downstairs bedroom which also is how you walk out to the beach. The deck is amazing and one night we did see two does with their little ones.
The beach was a little smaller than what I imagined, but was still wonderful to walk each night and spend the day playing in the water. We found a turtle as well as a couple of petoskey stones. We rented Kayaks and bikes from body balance in Suttons Bay. Kayaks were perfect at this location and we used them regularly. The fire pit was also used regularly as all necessities are right there! If you have someone elderly or with trouble walking though, the path to the beach is a little difficult. We found it easier for my mom to use the public walk way which borders the property.
The kitchen was amazing and we found everything you could possibly need to make a delightful meal! All sorts of pots and pans, a griddle, coffee maker, plates, we never ran out of anything!
All in all I loved the place and would highly recommend it! The subdivision this home is located in is truly amazing and friendly. If I could, I would move there!
