This spacious holiday home has a contemporary open plan interior with luxury fixture and fittings. It is located at Newby Bridge, only a 15 min drive to Bowness and 5 mins to lake Windermere. There is ample parking for up to 5 cars, a landscape garden with hot tub. its set amongst open fields with the hills as the perfect backdrop. It has 5 bedrooms, 3 en suite, and 1 bathroom downstairs, also, open plan living area, added to which is a spacious conservatory with a second wall mounted plasma TV which overlooks the spacious garden with fire pit. The open plan lounge and dining area has bi-fold doors which when folded back, open out to a sunny patio, with its feature stone walls and lush planting. It is a perfect retreat for families, or couples, who wish to have that added luxury whilst staying in such a beautiful location. The property has full Sky HD, Wii console and games, internet access. Dogs welcome if supervised, with separate, enclosed dog run. Guests also have free entrance to the Whitewater Hotel leisure facilities, located at Backbarrow.. Fell foot park is next door and can be accessed directly from the property, via a gate at the bottom of the garden.

Newby bridge is an outstandingly beautiful part of the lakes, and the property is located right at the heart of this location, yet only a short stroll away from the Swan and the Newby Bridge hotels, which both have good restaurants. The quaint village of Cartmel is only a 15 min drive away, which is where you can find the famous Michelin star, l'enclume restaurant.

About Lynn Rawcliffe

I have been letting holiday cottages in the lakes since 2004 and offer luxury holiday accommodation. I am very keen to ensure that all my guests in all my cottages are always very well satisfied and depart the cottages having had a marvelous holiday. I decided quite early on to offer accommodation which allows guests to bring their dogs whilst still enjoying luxurious surrounding, I am a dog owner myself and always found it difficult to find good quality holiday lets that also allow dogs. I am very proud of the fact that I have managed to combine both.

Why Lynn Rawcliffe chose Kendal & South Lakes

The Haven is a very special property, it took me a full year to renovate and enlarge to add on a large extension and conservatory which now capture the magnificent views, which no matter what time of year it is, always remain spectacular. The house is modern with open plan living, which has proven to be successful when occupied by large groups or large families. I always prefer to meet and greet guests to offer that personal touch and to offer ideas of where to go etc in the surrounding area, as Newby bridge has a lot to offer.

What makes this house unique

As previously mentioned, the views from every window are very special, the walks and the fact that fell foot park is right next door and can be accessed via the field and walk which runs by the river. the garden is great for entertaining and the fire pit at the bottom of the garden is always a hit with guests. there is also a spacious hot tub which is available to guests all year round..

Great place for a large family group

Lovely place to stay if you are a large family group. Large open plan living / dining / cooking area so no one has to feel left out. Plenty of comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms so that everyone can have their own privacy and the outside space is great too. Safe garden for children to play in, large hot tub and lots of outdoor seating to enjoy. We were blessed with perfect weather for the whole of our stay and loved opening the bi-fold doors to the garden area so we could enjoy the sunshine both morning and evening. There's lots to do in the local area, Windermere boat trip just round the corner at Newby Bridge, small shop at petrol station just up the road and only a short drive to Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere if you need more shopping, easy walks and bike rides from the house, but the best bit of all was the beautiful countryside all around. A great holiday, we all loved it!

Perfect

We have just got back from the most perfect weekend at the Haven, everything about this house is fantastic , Lynne was brilliant arranging balloons and decorations , our Tesco delivery was put away for us and everything explained and nothing too much trouble, I can't wait to go back and would recommend to anyone.

Great house in lovely location

Brilliant house for a family and friends get together over the Easter weekend. Large enough that 10 people and 2 dogs didn't feel cramped. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean. Weather wasn't great over the weekend but that didn't stop the hot tub from being used! We also got use out of the BBQ and the fire pit on the first night which was a great way to spend the first evening. The gate access to the field behind was very useful for walking the dogs and it's not far to walk to the lake from the house.

We also had a lovely meal at the Anglers Arms which is a 5 min drive down the road.

Overall a great stay and would definitely stay again. :-)

FANTASTIC

Stayed at The Haven in The Lake District rained all weekend but 8 of us had a Fantastic weekend.

A beautifully decorated and stylish furnished house which feels like home. Beautiful surroundings and gardens with jacuzzi.

A short walk to the nearby pubs of Newby Bridge. Windermere nearby

Perfect for a stay with friends and family. Just Brilliant.

Great house and great location...

We had a great family stay for a 50th birthday celebration. Lynn met us upon arrival and explained everything we needed to know. The house exceeded expectations and was great for children. The weather wasn't great so we didn't get a chance to use the wonderful decking area and garden. It's close to local hotels although there is not a roadside path outside the house on the main road but manageable with some high vis clothing and a torch for night. Would definitely use the house again.

Lovely house but a bit tired now

Had a lovely 4 night stay here, great walks on doorstep and very central for Lakes.

However Owner wasn't there on our arrival with key and had to figure everything out ourselves, electric gate not working but still secure enough.

House is very well used now and appreciate guests staying all year round but needing some work.

Garden lovely and I know it's a full time job keeping it so, but we wouldn't have minded if the gardener had been working about during our stay as an impossible task in 2 hours a week.

Overall had a very good break at The Haven.

Owner's Response: Not quite sure from review what the customer meant by looking tired! The exterior is booked in to be painted however with back to back bookings during peak season the outside maintenance is normally done at the end of the season The interior however is well maintained and rooms are painted whenever necessary, and all previous guests have been more than happy, so I am finding it hard to respond to the review, given that they have not stated in detail exactly what they considered to be an issue. I was unfortunatly unable to greet these guests as I had to drive back to Lytham that day, so the key was left in a key safe for them. I e-mailed previously all the relevant information for the house which included instructions for how everything worked which is generally the case with all holiday lets, as it is rare that owners are there to meet the guests. I prefer to meet and show guests round, even though it isn't necessary.

  • The master bedroom is located upstairs and has a 6ft bed and french doors with balcony and stunning views, it also has a raised bath which is placed next to a large picture window, which allows for a very pleasant bathing experience, this room also has a large en suite wet room, with spacious closet space, underfloor heating, large wash hand basin and WC. Next door to the master is a lovely twin-bedded room with an en suite bathroom with bath, WC and basin. Across the landing is the guest room with a double bed and en suite shower room, it has two large windows allowing light to flood in, making this room a very pleasant room to stay in. Downstairs are 2 extra bedrooms, which include one double and a bunk bed room next door. Three of the bedrooms have TVs The bunk beds are suitable for adults.

We do have a no smoking policy, and request guests who smoke to do so outside in respect for future guests who may stay at the property who do not smoke. in the garden is a firepit with 10 log stools to sit around whilst having a glass of vino infront of a fire!!!
