About Bob Shamberg

We are local retired educators who enjoy sharing beautiful North Idaho with travelers from all over the United States and Canada.

Bob Shamberg purchased this house in 2012

Why Bob Shamberg chose Northern Idaho

We fell in love with the Vintage Charm of our Coeur d'Alene Cottage the moment we stepped through the door. Our first home in Coeur d'Alene was a Turn of the Century Home of the same era. This home has that same kind of charm and detail as the home where we began raising our family.

What makes this house unique

Our location can't be beat! You can walk to the lake, The CdA Resort, Tubbs Hill Trails, 2 parks, all the local shops & restaurants or a block and a half to get a great cup of coffee and a muffin.

quaint, cute, clean cottage

This was our first experience with Home Away. We were a bit apprehensive. We had to pay everything before arriving. We received our damage deposit credit back. I am sure some people looking at this program for their first time are apprehensive as we were. It worked out perfectly for us. We went to to the Fair/concert/rodeo 2 days. We have been to CDA many times but this is our first vacation there since all of the downtown renovation. This property is very close to CDA downtown central. The library was a block away. The marina was a few blocks away. Lots of trees shade the property. There is a nice back deck, BBQ, with table, umbrella and 4 chairs to eat meals or relax. There is parking for 2 vehicles. Walking distance to town and Tubbs Hill. The interior was comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, spices and condiments. There are 2 bedrooms, a living room, dining area. We used the WIFI, tv/dvd player/cable. Everything worked. There were enough towels for 3 adults. We did not use the shower in the bear claw tub but the other shower worked very well. The owner supplied plenty of shampoo and other toiletries. The only down side.... I would recommend the owner replace the master bed mattress/box spring soon as I think it is near the end of it's life. There is a stacked washer dryer that we did not use. We had everything we needed. Thank you!

All around good!

We were very happy with this cute little cottage! My first impression was on the cleanliness. The place was clean and tidy. The location was perfect distance from town. We spent a lot of time at the park and Tubbs hill which was a half a block away. The owner and cleaning lady that I met on our way out we're both very friendly. I appreciate that! When we come back to Coeur d Alene we would definitely like to stay here again! Thank you

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (two adults, two kids) enjoyed our first visit to Couer d'Alene and especially loved our stay in this charming cottage. The location is ideal and allows for a quick walk to great restaurants, unique shopping, the breathtaking waterfront and a wonderful park/playground. The house is cozy, clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. We enjoyed meeting Bob as we were departing. We could tell that he takes great pride in providing this sweet little house to his guests. We hope to be back, and I just hope this house will be available!

Comfortable and Cozy!

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely perfect for our small family. We had 4 adults with a small baby and the place was better than we could have asked for. The owners are very easy to get in contact with and leave the home in amazing shape for all visitors. This place has everything you could need for a vacation to CDA. The location is stellar, SO close to everything! We were able to walk downtown to any shops or restaurants, to the park, tubs hill, the lake, or the resort and it only took a couple of minutes. We will definitely be staying at this home the next time we visit!!

Anniversary Stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and i stayed for a couple nights for our anniversary. We had a great time. Place is as advertised. VERY clean from top to bottom. Bob was on the spot with a couple small questions we had. All the normal conveniences are included. There was a car show going on Sherman Ave a block away and the place was still quiet. We walked Tubbs hill every day, walk to the resort. Very nice to not have to mess with parking at the those places. Would come back if given the opportunity. (if you stay and need the hair dryer, it is the bottom draw in master bath. :)

Lovely

  • 5 of 5

Came in for the CDA marathon 2016. Left with perfect memories, with this little gem making the memory great.

Wanted a place for a few of us, not just a hotel room. This was perfect and yes, charming and clean. We loved it! Absolutely loved it.

Just blocks to walk to the park, golf resort and downtown.

And BONUS, the cottage is stocked with all your needs, not just dishes and silverware, but coffee filters, coffee, ketchup, butter, salt, pepper..... those little things that matter when you spend two or three days in a house. And the beds are comfortable too!

Also, the owners are great communicators. Thank you. This is where you go when the little things matter. We loved it.
