About Bob Shamberg

We are local retired educators who enjoy sharing beautiful North Idaho with travelers from all over the United States and Canada.

Bob Shamberg purchased this house in 2012

Why Bob Shamberg chose Northern Idaho

We fell in love with the Vintage Charm of our Coeur d'Alene Cottage the moment we stepped through the door. Our first home in Coeur d'Alene was a Turn of the Century Home of the same era. This home has that same kind of charm and detail as the home where we began raising our family.

What makes this house unique

Our location can't be beat! You can walk to the lake, The CdA Resort, Tubbs Hill Trails, 2 parks, all the local shops & restaurants or a block and a half to get a great cup of coffee and a muffin.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We really want to Thank You for providing such a lovely, quaint cottage. We had a great time in the area and loved coming home to our little house every evening. We look forward to going back one day!

Thank you so much for the use of your cottage! We all had a wonderful time.

We can't wait to stay in this charming home again!

  • 5 of 5

From the beginning, we felt right at home. The owners accommodated every question and were so quick to respond. The home itself was everything we hoped it would be! Super charming, well decorated, had anything you could need and was the perfect location. We were able to park and walk almost everywhere. We walked to Tubbs Hill, the park, downtown and the floating boardwalk. If we had more time I am sure we would have been able to go to many more places. This home was charming in every way and even smelled wonderful! Very clean!! We will be sure to stay here the next time we are in CdA.

quaint, cute, clean cottage

This was our first experience with Home Away. We were a bit apprehensive. We had to pay everything before arriving. We received our damage deposit credit back. I am sure some people looking at this program for their first time are apprehensive as we were. It worked out perfectly for us. We went to to the Fair/concert/rodeo 2 days. We have been to CDA many times but this is our first vacation there since all of the downtown renovation. This property is very close to CDA downtown central. The library was a block away. The marina was a few blocks away. Lots of trees shade the property. There is a nice back deck, BBQ, with table, umbrella and 4 chairs to eat meals or relax. There is parking for 2 vehicles. Walking distance to town and Tubbs Hill. The interior was comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, spices and condiments. There are 2 bedrooms, a living room, dining area. We used the WIFI, tv/dvd player/cable. Everything worked. There were enough towels for 3 adults. We did not use the shower in the bear claw tub but the other shower worked very well. The owner supplied plenty of shampoo and other toiletries. The only down side.... I would recommend the owner replace the master bed mattress/box spring soon as I think it is near the end of it's life. There is a stacked washer dryer that we did not use. We had everything we needed. Thank you!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that your first experience staying at a vacation rental was so successful. It can be worrisome to try something new. Hearing that our Cottage “worked out perfectly” confirms that our time and effort spent maintaining our properties is appreciated by our guests. The comment about the bed was the first we had heard, however it appears we need to replace it for our upcoming 2017 season. Thank you for the feedback.

All around good!

We were very happy with this cute little cottage! My first impression was on the cleanliness. The place was clean and tidy. The location was perfect distance from town. We spent a lot of time at the park and Tubbs hill which was a half a block away. The owner and cleaning lady that I met on our way out we're both very friendly. I appreciate that! When we come back to Coeur d Alene we would definitely like to stay here again! Thank you

Perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four (two adults, two kids) enjoyed our first visit to Couer d'Alene and especially loved our stay in this charming cottage. The location is ideal and allows for a quick walk to great restaurants, unique shopping, the breathtaking waterfront and a wonderful park/playground. The house is cozy, clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. We enjoyed meeting Bob as we were departing. We could tell that he takes great pride in providing this sweet little house to his guests. We hope to be back, and I just hope this house will be available!
