Large, Stately Manor in the Marigny/Bywater. Ideal Location Near French Quarter
About Franz Wisner
My wife Tracy and I recently purchased and renovated a large, gorgeous, 100-year-old Greek Revival side-by-side in the middle of the Marigny, our favorite neighborhood in New Orleans. We have been hosting short-term renters for several years and are proud of our 5-star ratings. We're more than happy to help with your trip planning and recommendations. We're also frequent short-term renters ourselves. Love experiencing cities from a local's perspective.

Why Franz Wisner chose Marigny
The Marigny has long been our favorite neighborhood in New Orleans. It's walking distance to the French Quarter, Crescent Park, and dozens of the city's top restaurants and bars. Yet it is still very much a neighborhood with its colorful creole cottages, sidewalk cafes, antique shops, art galleries, and studio spaces. Our three-story, 100-year-old Greek Revival home is smack dab in the middle of the Marigny. It's an easy stroll to Frenchmen Street (THE place for music in New Orleans), St. Roch Market (a must for food lovers), and scores of neighborhood bars, restaurants, parks, and sights. It's also a great place to walk the streets and marvel at the colors and architectural styles of the Marigny/Bywater. Have your camera ready.
What makes this House unique
Our home is one of the larger structures in the Marigny, with 12-foot ceilings, spacious rooms, multiple balconies and verandas, and a large backyard patio, the perfect place to enjoy an outdoor meal or drink with friends. The kitchen contains brand new appliances for those who wish to prepare a meal or two at home. The beds and mattresses are also brand new. The floors and stairs are made of old growth cypress, giving the house a warm and inviting feel. We know you'll be comfortable here.

Great location, great house
This house is in a great location - easy walk to French Qaurter, close to Frenchman street bars and restaurants. Franz was very easy to work with - always quick to respond to inquiries. You do have to walk through bedrooms to get to other bedrooms (spiral staircase from attic comes down through one of the masters and you have to walk through a bedroom on the upper floor to get to the other bedroom) but this is part of the charm of a period home and since we were two families (as opposed to a bunch of couples) this did not bother us. We really didn't prepare meals in but the kitchen is moderately equipped (no large mixing bowl to scramble eggs in though). Plenty of hot water and good water pressure, good zoned heating/cooling. Good beds and towels. It was nice that soap, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap and even laundry soap are provided. Franz was very helpful with suggestions of fun things to do nearby as well. It is expensive but was worth it for our group.
Amazing spacious home, close to Frenchman street and a block from St Roch!
Fabulous stay in a beautiful home! We enjoyed the number of rooms and being close to many New Orleans attractions. Very well kept!
Let me start by saying the photos do not do this property justice. No stone left unturned and a great location in walking distance to most everything we wanted to do. My husband and I enjoyed our time with our children in the home and will definitely will return!
Thank you Franz and family!
Six of us stayed here (two couples and two singles). The house is great - authentic character, but didn’t feel old or run down. It had all the amenities we needed and we really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that was a little surprising is that anyone staying in the front room (king sized bed) or attic had to walk through someone else’s room to get to the living space. It may be in the description, but we didn’t notice it.
Easy living in the Big Easy
We arrived in NOLA to a lovely and comfy house in a terrific location. The owners had provided excellent information in advance of our arrival, and they were super-quick and responsive throughout.
The house was a cool and quiet respite from the August heat, with great amenities. The bedroom layout may not suit every group's purposes - most of the sleeping areas and bedrooms are connected in some way - but the rooms were spacious, clean and well-appointed.
The Marigny neighborhood was a delight. As with much of New Orleans, it's a jumble of prim and ragged, bright and faded. But it was a good place to soak in the color and texture of NOLA, with easy and enjoyable walking to food and drink and music, and much to see on every block.
The AC occasionally had to fight a bit to keep up with the worst of the summer heat, but ceiling fans combined with the forced air system to keep things comfortable. And when the heat and rain were not on top of us, the beautiful back garden made for wonderful outdoor seating.
Would definitely return to Marigny in general and this house in particular. Great experience with owner and property and neighborhood. Recommended.
