This charming East Street historical bungalow offers two bedrooms and two bathrooms and is within walking distance (5 blocks) of beautiful downtown Golden. Located at the foot of the famous mesa with views of mountains all around and open space trailhead that leads up the famous Castle Rock (you can do it!) just 5 blocks away. The back deck is the perfect place for an afternoon grill after an afternoon playing in the creek, taking a tour of Coors Brewery or a leisurely stroll through the quaint shops of Golden. Close enough to Downtown Denver and Boulder to enjoy the sights, but far enough away to offer escape into nearby Golden Gate State Park. Golden, Colorado - Where the West lives!
When I made the decision to move 'down the hill' from Evergreen, after 35 years, I looked at many cool locations around Denver before deciding on Golden. It's artistic, clean, safe and geographically separated from the rest of the city by the mountains, mesas and creek that define its borders. The East Street historic district is filled with families walking their children and dogs, bicyclists riding by, beautiful sky and views. Occasionally you can smell the hops from Coors brewery. Always, there is fun in Golden, whether its the arts festival, music in the parks or bars, or the car show. Come see!
This Arts & Crafts bungalow built in 1890 comes with a long front porch with a swing, a table perfect for breakfast and shaded by an ancient silver maple. It features a deck off the updated and fully equipped kitchen - with a gas grill on the deck. The yard is fenced, with gardens all around. Depending when you are there, you are welcome to forage for strawberries or rasberries from the garden, grapes from the vine or pick peaches and cherries off the trees. It's in a sweet neighborhood and close enough to walk to town for dinner and drinks or for an early morning walk to the top of the mesa. There is an upstairs bedroom (queen bed) with a bath and shower. The second bedroom is downstairs (walkout basement - think old house) but completely remodeled with an amazing bath featuring a deep soaking tub. You'll love the location and the home! Well behaved pets are welcome with permission.
The bungalow is charming with lots of funky accessories and a great kitchen to work in. First floor bedroom & bath is clean and really nice. Where we found some difficulty is with the lower level which is a complete additional area with bedroom, bath and living area. It is very cool and somewhat damp. There is no ventilation that we could find - especially in the bathroom. One of us who stayed there is sensitive to mould and was triggered by the air in that level. Would really suggest a dehumidifier (I know that is crazy to say in dry Denver but still). Is there a way to open windows down there?
We just enjoyed a lovely stay with family at the bungalow over the holiday season. What a charming and beautifully decorated home! It was so nice to feel like we had a real home to relax in after spending time with relatives who live in Golden.
The bungalow is quite spacious, very well supplied, and the free bottle of wine was such a thoughtful touch! The kitchen had everything we needed and then some, with several spices, a nice variety of tea and good quality coffee. I was excited to find a high powered blender so we could make our green drinks in the mornings!
The owner was extremely responsive before, during and after our visit. She even made a special trip to drop off a large air mattress for our teenage son.
The Safeway grocery store is within walking distance, and there’s also a nice health food market a little further down off East and 24th.
We will definitely be staying here again next time we come to visit family. It will be like our second home in Golden!
The bungalow was even nicer than we expected from the photos on the website. It is beautifully maintained and very comfortable. We had a family gathering of 5 adults and 2 golden retrievers to visit my brother's new brewery in Lakewood (Green Mountain Beer Company). The bungalow was spacious enough for all five of us to spread out and the fenced in yard was perfect with the dogs. The owner was kind enough to allow us to check in a bit early as my family arrived on an early flight, she was also very good at communicating with us in a prompt manner. We will definitely stay here again.
As we were planning the return of our son from his deployment, our main concern was locating a home in a great location with plenty of room to relax, have fun and spend quality time as family. This was the perfect retreat! The bungalow is located only steps away from downtown Golden with a view of Table Mountain from the backyard. We enjoyed easy access to the trail, Bob's Atomic Burger's (one of our favorites) and shopping (including easy access to the grocery store as well). This lovely home was very nicely equipped with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen (fully stocked), living room, den, dining room, home office (hopefully you are not working while away), deck with patio seating and one bedroom located on the main level. The downstairs has an additional bedroom and bath tucked away from the rest of the house. While I wouldn't consider it as charming as the upstairs, it definitely offers space and additional privacy. If your traveling as a couple, it's perfect! If not, you'll probably need to draw straws on who gets the charming bedroom vs the downstairs bedroom. If there is a concern, this would be the only thing to mention. The property is well-maintained and clean. Our host was extremely responsive and also checked in with us prior to our arrival. I would highly recommend this location. Overall, our hope was to find a location were my son could relax, enjoy the area and feel like he was at home. This charmer definitely did just that! For that, we are entirely grateful.
My husband and I absolutely enjoyed our stay at the house! It was within walking distance to hikes, restaurants and downtown Golden! We brought our 20lb dog along and the fenced in back yard was perfect for him to run around. Master suite in basement was private from the upstairs living area. Great kitchen, where we spent most of our time. The house had plenty of dishes and utensils. We would definitely stay here again!
