Our sixth floor D building condo has just been completely redecorated, with an all new Kitchen and all new appliances. The cabinets are all new as of April 2012, and new granite counter tops.
The living room couch is new, as are the end tables, table lamps, dining table and four chairs, and the coffee table.
We have added pull down shades in the living room area, that pull down from the top, and doesn't block the 180 degree view of the ocean. The windows have all been replaced with clear glass panes.
The view from the sixth floor of Kihei Akahi is the best in all of South Maui. Nothing is higher, or gives the fantastic 180 degree view that we have.
We have added a desk that opens, to allow for those who want or need to have a work space, to set up, and have a view outside.
We have a high speed internet connection, that is much faster than the basic internet offers available, and WIFI, so that devises that don't have or need a network connection, can be operated in the condo. We also have toll free telephone service to the USA and CANADA. A real plus for our Canadian friends, and visitors.
The bathroom vanity is all new, with a granite counter top, and new vanity lighting.
The Kihei Akahi has washers and dryers in each of the condos, so no need to go out to do laundry. But, please, use low suds soap in limited quantities, to avoid problems in the floors and units below our top floor condo. They will certainly appreciate not having a backup problem caused by our guests.
The bedroom has a very comfortable Queen size bed, and new table lamps that are identical to the table lamps in the living room.
2017 is showing availability, but the High Season fills up early and fast. Please consult the calendar for availability, for dates you might be interested in.
We, as I'm sure most VRBO renters for Kihei Akahi, get requests as far as two (2) and three (3) years into the future, so it is best to reserve a unit as soon as plans can be made.
Tourism is up on Maui, as well as all the Hawaiian Islands. Kihei Akahi was as full as I have seen it in many years. Yes, rates are increasing too. So it is best to book early, and avoid ongoing increases in condo/room rates, due to maintenance fees, power bills, real estate taxes, etc., regardless whether you book our unit, or some other condo/complex.
It is difficult to book a guest, on very short notice, and equally difficult to book a 'Back to Back', where a new guest wishes to arrive on the same day that a departing guest still has the unit, on their departure day. So our policy is to consider each of those on an individual basis.
We also prefer a minimum of a seven (7) night stay. We do consider shorter stays, but not less than four (4) nights.
We don't add a 'resort fee' as some owners do, and we don't add on the KA 'Guest Services' fees that are charged when you check in at the KA front office.
We don't actively solicit condo reviews, but if you care to post them, we do appreciate that.

We were staying in Kihei Akahi, D Building, when this unit came on the market, late in 2011. We previously owned a unit in D Building for over 13 years, but sold it in 2006. We thought that this unit, on the top floor of the D Building, while needing a lot of up-grading, provided us with an opportunity to own, again, in the best building in all of South Maui.
The best view of the ocean, whales, and boating than any other complex is South Maui.

The view from the Lanai is fantastic and we spent a lot of the time that we were in the Condo there looking out over the grounds and ocean. It was great waking up in the morning to the sounds of the birds and other than that it was quiet in the unit. The Condo is very well equipped and also has everything we required for our time at the beach and pool.
The fact that the complex is so close to the beaches, restaurants and shops was great as we used our rental car very little.
Again thanks for everything and we'll talk again in two years.
We have just returned from a wonderful 17 day stay in Ross & Mary’s condo. Over the years we have stayed in several different units in this building and this one is by far the best equipped. The unit has been recently updated and was spotless on arrival. The sofa isn’t a hide-a-bed but there is a simple to use air mattress. We enjoyed ocean view sunsets from the Lanai each evening and eat all our meals there too. Noise was never an issue even with the close proximity to the elevators. Ross was a pleasure to work with.
I would certainly rent this unit again.
We could not have been happier with our rental of Ross and Mary's condo. It was clean and very comfortable, and the lanai features a 180 degree view. We so enjoyed having our morning coffee there, looking out over everything around. The kitchen has been updated very nicely with beautiful cabinets and countertops, and everything else about the condo is new/updated and very nice. Additionally, we had no issues with any noise connected to the elevators. Ross was a pleasure to work with and very accommodating. We are planning to come back and hope to make this condo our own home away from home on additional future trips to Maui!
Clean, very well equipped condo close to restaurants and beach. The ocean view and sunsets from the lanai were awesome. The owner Ross and Mary were very easy people to correspond with. We spent 28 comfortable and relaxing days at this condo and would not hesitate to rent it again.
The listing photos were all very accurate but the listing description says it sleeps 2 - 4 but 2 would be more accurate as the couch does not make into a bed. Perfect place for a couple though.
Kihei Akahi is centrally located in South Maui, close to beaches, restaurants, bars, shopping, A great place to watch the sun-sets, and people watch.

Stays of seven (7) nights is our normal booking policy. Stays of less than seven (7) nights will be considered, depending on the time of year, but not less than four (4) nights will be accepted. Further, a ten percent (10%) surcharge will be added to our normal rate, for stays less than seven (7) nights.
CANCELLATION POLICY: 100% refund if the reservation is cancelled 45 days prior to arrival. Thereafter, the refunded amount may be available only upon re-booking for all or part of the cancelled nights.
The tax rate for TA & GE is 13.42%.
The Hawaii Tax collectors now require that our TA & GE tax ID be posted on our VRBO Page W40130878-02. The new TA tax ID is TA-161-802-4448-02
