Guestbook comments from the owner

close to gare Saint-Lazare. We We bought a 5 days subway/RER pass and travelled all over Paris and Versailles. We enjoyed the brasserie Mollard and even saw a rainbow from the terrace.

Our own pied a terre in Paris! We will be back.

A great little apartment in the Madeleine / St. Lazare area. The location is very untouristic (not a single souvenir shop anywhere!), but very handy for transit and access to sites. A VELIB bike share station is right at the door. In the neighbourhood there are a number of good restaurants and a great bakery. We got fresh croissants there every morning and had petit dejeuner on the terrrase.

Very comfortable and well-fitted. There is no air conditioning, but even during a short heat-wave in July, we had no problem as there is a good fan and the windows open in two different directions so there is always a nice breeeze. As other reviewers noted, the elevator is very small (the smallest I've ever seen), but is easy and reliable. The bed is a high-quality convertible sofa and is very comfortable.

One of the best things about this apartment is the spacious terrase (balcony), that overlooks the park across the street. We had breakfast, drinks, and even a dinner on the terrase. We were here for almost two weeks (vacation and work), and the terrase was a wonderful retreat and helped expand the living space which otherwise might seem cramped for two people for two weeks.

The ktichen is fully equiped with all you'll need to make a simple meal. Small and large grocery stores are nearby. The bathroom and shower are small but perfectly adequate, and there's lots of hot water. The apartment is very quiet, although there can be some noise from the street (you're in the heart of Paris!)

We would definitely recommend this apartment, and plan to make it our home base again on our next trip to Paris.

Beatiful terrace! Good location!

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this apartment. We have friends in Paris and the terrace was perfect for four to enjoy some cheese, wine and baguette! The location was close to anything we needed and close to Saint Lazare which is a large station connecting many trains and metros. The apartment was clean. The bed was not super comfortable, but it is a pull out couch so that is expected. The comforter provided was nice and comfy. Only small things were negative. The door for the cabinet is broken and therefore could not open all the way without it falling off. The curtain for one window was off and couldn't figure out how to put back. And could not find a trash bin for inside the apartment. We just used a plastic bag from shopping. As we were leaving we found a small one for the bathroom under the bathroom sink. Also as you are drinking in the city, keep your plastic cups as glasses were minimal in the apt. There also was no bathroom hand soap or nespresso capsules available. This would be nice for the owner to add. Overall, I would recommend this as the location and the terrace over come the small issues that we came across! Enjoy the time in Paris!

Small but beautiful, and in a fantastic location

  • 5 of 5

Firstly, please make sure you carefully read anything that Alexandre sends you. We booked this place a few months in advance and had forgotten that he specifically instructs you how to locate the key to the apartment. As such we had to spend the first few hours in Paris wandering around since we weren't able to reach him, but that was our mistake!

This apartment is fairly small, but absolutely beautiful and conveniently located. Sitting on the patio with a glass of wine overlooking the park was definitely a highlight of our trip. We didn't have a chance to meet Alexandre in person, but when messaging him on VRBO he responded very quickly.

Would definitely recommend!

A Disappointing Stay in Paris

  • 1 of 5

The apartment certainly has a great location!

...but our stay was exhausting. When we arrived at the airport, after texting the owner as determined ahead of time, we received no reply. Though this was frustrating, I don't place the blame on him, as Travel Cellphone Plans never work out all that great for me. Regardless, this became more frustrating when we arrived at the apartment. The key was not left where he originally told me. The internet was not working (which sounds whiney but there was quite a bit of flooding when we arrived in Paris, so we needed to redo some research and plans). The bed linens were in the washing machine, completely soaked. When my partner went to hang up his coat and put away his bag, the door slide right off and hit me. And though the owner gave us the digits of the door code, we had to figure out the proper order for ourselves.

The owner came the next day. He fixed the internet (but then the TV wasn't working, haha) and told us to watch out for the door. No apologies at all for the soaking wet bed linens, his absence when we arrived, or anything at all.

It could have been a great stay... but at the end of it all, it just just left us feeling disappointed.

Owner's Response: That's right I am not able to answer IMMEDIATELY for many reasons. But I make my best to satisfy my clients since years. Whatever, at your booking, you received clear and complete informations in order to arrive easily at the apartment. That's right the key was not ON the box, it was IN. But the box is not closed. At the end, (few minutes) you found it. The problem of internet was quickly solved by a plug OFF/ON which reboot the internet box. For the bed linens, there was a misunderstanding with the maid. She made a mistake in the dates. She thought you should arrive later. I was there the day of your arrival to bring you fresh and ironed linen and towels. And I apologized in my mail. Sorry for the door which hit you. I could have come immediately to repair it if you would have inform me. In the mail you received after your booking, the door codes were indicated in a logical way, the first door code for the first door, the second door code for the second door. But perhaps I am not a very logical guy... Whatever, I see that you don't have any claim about the cleaning, the large terrace that I hope you enjoyed, the equipment of the apartment, etc.
