This apartment has been a labor of love. From the moment I walked in I knew I wanted to buy it cause of the good vibes and light.
tatyana murray purchased this apartment in 1998
The joy of closing the door and escaping the hussle and bussle of city life is priceless. This apartment is truly a jewel. An oasis.
The roof garden is private with no one overlooking you, which is extremely rare in the city. The roof is fully equipped with cutlery, hose, automatic watering system and lights for the evening creating a very dreamy romantic atmosphere.
This was the perfect location for our NYC trip. The rooftop deck was beautiful although the weather was a little cold to enjoy it as much as we would have liked. Would be nice to have a usable grill, there is one on the deck but no charcoal to use. Would stay there again.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Tatyana's apartment. The East Village location was perfect for us with its vibrant array of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Only a few blocks from several subway stations, close to NYU and Astor Place and Washington Square park. We could explore all of downtown and it was an easy subway ride uptown as well. The apartment is laid out nicely with plenty of room for two people and the rooftop terrace is phenomenal!! Larger than any I have seen in the city and certainly not available at this price in any hotel. We could see the Empire State Building (which was lit up red, white & blue for the 9/11 memorial weekend) and we are most meals up there at the dining table. There were only a few small complaints: we only had 2 towels provided to us for 4 days which we could've handled better if the washer & dryer listed as being included with the apartment had worked. We emailed Tatyana about it and apparently the dryer doesn't actually work so be careful if you plan to need to launder anything! She said she hangs clothes out to dry which we did not like for towels. She said she has ordered more towels so this might not be a problem in the future, but was definitely inconvenient for us. Also, there was no top sheet on the bed and no extra sheets anywhere (although Tatyana said there were extras next to the bed there were not). These small issues did not ruin our vacation, but were small annoyances. Finally, the steps are definitely steep and its 4 flights up so be prepared for a daily workout, but the view once you get up there is worth it!!
Really enjoyed our stay in your beautiful apartment. Thank you again Tatyana.
The East Village location is excellent for the convenience of exploring Manhatten and there are wonderful eating and drinking venues nearby on 2nd Avenue. Would be rated 5 stars but for the 'seedy' environs at street level outside the flat on the corner of St Marks Place and the necessity of climbing 4 flights of stairs after a days sightseeing in the heat and humidity of August.
Place was clean and convenient. For us, location was perfect! Surprisingly quiet as well. The rooftop garden was a lovely place and made the place seem twice as big. The only drawback might be climbing several flights of stairs. If you are not in good shape and used to walking up steep stairs, this may not be the place for you.
This was our second time staying in Tatanya's excellent apartment and it was just as good this time around. Everything is as advertised and the rooftop deck is unparalleled. The location couldn't be better and Tatanya is very responsive and easy to deal with. If you can handle several flights of steep stairs, don't hesitate to stay here!
We had an amazing time here -- the apartment was easy to get to and get in, was beautifully laid out, decorated and clean! The roof deck/garden is a wonderful spot to sit with some wine or coffee and watch and listen to the city. Close to the Astoria Place subway stop and plenty of cabs nearby so easy to get around -- if you want to leave the neighborhood, that is! Several really fantastic restaurants/bars within a couple blocks (check out the cafe directly across for a wonderful breakfast/brunch!). A wonderful place that we'll always remember and try to come back to.
Only warning -- fourth/fifth floor walk up, so if steep stairs are a concern, may not be for you.
