Welcome to our historic 1890s cottage, conveniently located in a safe neighborhood, just 5 short blocks from everything that historic Downtown Colorado Springs has to offer! We also have a sister cottage next door (VRBO #355182) available to accomodate larger parties and a 2 bedroom upstairs apartment just on the other side (VRBO #462263).
This light, bright one bedroom cottage is the perfect spot from which to explore and experience all the wonders that Colorado Springs has to offer! It has classic Victorian 10 foot ceilings, wood floors throughout (no carpeting) and although it is 750 cozy square feet, it has a very open, spacious feeling.
The cottage is located on a quiet, one way, non-through street so there is not very much traffic and easy on street parking is always available.
The bedroom has a queen sized thick, comfy mattress. We also have a pullout couch that opens into a fullsize bed. At times, we have also provided a cot or two for kids, so we can accomodate up to five or six people.
The property has a mix of contemporary furnishings with a splash of antiques. The living room has an antique armoire for hanging your clothes, as well as a smaller closet in the bedroom. There are new sofas in the living room and the dining room. There is a dining room set that seats four.
There is a flat screen 22' television in the bedroom and there is a 42' Flat Screen TV in the Livingroom. Both TVs have full cable TV service. We are also set up with fast wireless internet access so you can surf the web.
There is a fully stocked kitchen, complete with many extra amenities such as paper towels, napkins, dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, spices, baggies, and garbage bags! There are air-conditioners in the bedroom and the living room (which cool the whole place). This year, we just replaced most of the windows.
The nice size kitchen has a pantry, as well as a dishwasher and washing machine and drier, but note, it is not an eat in kitchen.
The small bathroom consists of a clawfoot tub (with shower), a small sink and a toilet. It's a little tight but is quite functional.
The small (approximately 10 feet by 20 feet) fenced in back yard area has a gas barbeque, as well as a patio table and chairs on the small covered porch for al fresco dining. It has a mini-view of Pikes Peak. There is a chain link fence in the back yard with an empty lot behind it. This is an urban yard that isn't landscaped. Because there are no neighbors behind you, it's pretty quiet.
From our cottage, you can walk to downtown boutiques, restaurants, clubs, and antique shops. We are also less than ten minutes from historic Old Colorado City. We are less than fifteen minutes from exciting Manitou Springs with its famous free natural underground soda springs, its wonderful restaurants, shopping, supermarkets and galleries. Garden of the Gods park, with its exquisite red rock formations, is a must see and it is less than 15 minutes away with a fantastic visitor's center. The Broadmoor Hotel is just a hop, skip and jump away, as well, less than 15 minutes... The Air Force Academy is about 15 minutes north of us, and Colorado College is about 15 blocks away. The Olympic Training Center is east of us and less than a five minute drive.
Bear Creek Dog Park and Bear Creek Nature Center are less than 10 minutes west, and are wonderful places to take the kids! There is also a beautiful mountain zoo less than 15 minutes away. There are many fabulous day trips less than 2 hours from us, including the drive up Pikes Peak, marvelling at the Royal Gorge, rafting on the Arkansas river, soaking in hotsprings, exploring Cave of the Winds, and visiting the Cliff-dwelling museum, all great entertainment for kids.
We allow dogs, but please let us know if your dog has separation anxiety and it will need a kennel and we will try to accomodate your pooch.
Cancellation Policy: 100% refund if cancellation is 60 days or more before arrival date. Cancelling 30-60 days before arrival date will result in forfeit of deposit. We have 2 Corgi dogs of our own, all rescued from the Humane Society... We take our 2 pups with us whenever we can, and they love taking long hikes with us around the many parks in the Colorado Springs area. We have been married for over 30 years. We lived in New York City for our first 35+ years, and have lived in Colorado for the past 20 years. We love it here! (You will too!)
Mark Lowenherz purchased this cottage in 2004
We lived in downtown Colorado Springs for five years. We had fallen in love with the downtown area when we first moved here and when this unique property came up for sale, we couldn't resist!
Colorado Springs has many open space areas and parks. We have 2 Corgi dogs (all rescue dogs, adopted at the Colorado Springs Humane Society), and we take them hiking up into the surrounding parks and mountains. We loved being in the heart of all that Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City and Manitou have to offer!
My husband and I enjoyed our 8 night stay in this little older home. The back porch is lovely and relaxing. We enjoyed being close to everything in the springs.. including my son. We watched squirrels and deer run the streets almost every day and night. I would definitely recommend this home for anyone wanting to visit the springs.
We had a great stay at Mark's place. It's a cute, spacious, old home with lots of neat features and was well stocked for guests. It has a little fenced yard for the dogs and is close to downtown, restaurants, outdoor activities, you name it. The neighborhood is very quaint and quiet. We would certainly stay here again! Just keep in mind that the building is old, so running the a/c units and a high powered hair dryer at the same time doesn't work very well.
I am a travel nurse who stayed here while on a 3 month assignment at memorial hospital. This cute and cozy cottage was perfect for my dog and I! Had everything I wanted- fully furnished, plenty of kitchenware to cook with, washer dryer, fenced in backyard, safe area, and super close to both the hospital and downtown area. I often took walks with my dog to the downtown area to get my morning coffee or grab breakfast at one of the many cute restuarants there. The hospital was only a 5 minute drive to get there. Bear creek dog park and garden of the gods was only a 15-20 minute drive away. Both amazing places to bring your dog to! I loved my stay at this place, highly recommend it if you are looking for a short term lease in Colorado Springs!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The home was very comfortable and we look forward to staying here again. The location was absolutely perfect for us, as we were initially there for a surgery and the hospital is only about two miles away. My mother-in- law and I really enjoyed our walks on the walking path nearby. Also, Mark was very easy to work with and we look forward to renting from him again.
Every year we visit Colorado for Spring Break. Usually staying with family. This year our family was in the process of selling and buying a new home therefore they were staying with extended family.
We decided on renting through VRBO as a recommendation from my sister. Marks house on Corona was close to family and even though we made the decision literally at the last minute Mark was completely okay with this. We have a large family and Mark made sure to accommodate with extra air mattresses for our children. The house was very clean and stocked top to bottom of necessities. Our stay was very nice and I would recommend this property and if needed we would definitely go through the VRBO and Mark again. Thank you Mark!
I rented this house for a month. It's beautiful on the inside and had a great location. It was exactly as described and furnished with everything that I needed. Mark was very easy to deal with and quick to respond to any questions. I'll definitely rent this house again when I'm in town next.
