About Kevin Cross
My wife Patti and I grew up in the Grand Rapids Mi area. I grew up on a lake 20 miles from Wabasis. We live in the Grand rapids area and love this lake.
Kevin Cross purchased this Cottage in 2007
Why Kevin Cross chose Oakfield
My wife's Grandfather owned a place on Wabasis lake. She grew to love the area. When a cottage finally came up for purchase after 10 years we bought this gem.
What makes this Cottage unique
This lake is unique to Lower Michigan because so much of the shoreline has no homes. The reason for this is the county owns the land. After 7:30 the no wake zone is in effect and it is bliss. It is so quiet. If you are lucky you will see the pair of Bald Eagles who live on the lake. The lake is over a mile long.

Just the perfect getaway for rest and relaxation
Thanks again for another great summer vacation, Kevin and Patti. For the past three years we've enjoyed spending a week at your cottage. We enjoyed your place before having kids and now continuing this tradition with our little girl has been priceless. I have to say the best part is the great view of the lake each morning when we wake. Your place is literally right on the water. It's gorgeous. We slowly start the day eating breakfast on the deck and listening to the birds. Probably our second favorite thing is taking the boat around the lake. The pontoon is just perfect even for folks who didn't have a lot of boating experience. The lake is always so calm and rarely busy. We've never had issues with people being loud, unruly. We have so many beautiful sunset photos from long sunset boat rides. Lastly, we really love fishing on this lake. We've caught fish every time we've stayed and often from right off the dock! The lake has a lot of nice sized bass. These are our favorite parts of our overall experience but your place is our home base for our all adventures on the lake and in Grand Rapids. Our past two visits we visited Meijer Gardens...what a treasure within your city!
Thanks again for your hospitality. We love your place. It's a wonderful oasis for a summer getaway!
See you next summer!
Everything we wanted and more!
My husband and I take a fishing vacation every year and this is our new favorite! Beautiful setting with swans and great blue heron hanging out by the dock. Close enough to Chicago to make it convenient yet far enough away we felt like we were a world away. Cabin is well equipped, from kitchen to play room to new wireless connection -- even a wormidor to keep worms fresh and out of the kitchen fridge. Pontoon boat included made it possible for this old lady and the dog to join in the fun. While we didn't catch any huge fish, we caught a lot of fish -- every day! Kevin and Patti are great hosts. Highly recommend!
We are repeat renters and will continue to stay this cottage for years to come. We love the fact that we are right on the lake and can simply walk out the back door and jump in the lake or take a boat ride or throw a line in the water. The pontoon is such a plus and the lake is perfect for sunset cruises as there is a no-wake rule after 6pm. We love the peace and serenity we experience every time we visit. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and maximize or time with family and friends. The owners are very accommodating and responsive.
Thank you again for making our vacation a success.
We had a great time at the cottage. The cottage was clean and spacious with a lot of games to play. The pontoon boat was the perfect addition. We were on the lake everyday fishing and swimming. Thanks Kevin and Patti!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this adorable place on a beautiful lake! The home was immaculate and there were tons of personal touches that made our stay totally comfortable. The lake is amazing with wild areas. My sister and I had all we needed in the kitchen for preparing meals and the gas grill was a really nice bonus as well. The pontoon made lake cruising and swimming fantastic for us. The owner was accomodating and responsive to our needs. We went to Winter Inn in town for lunch one day and loved the food and service there, really great hamburgers and homemade chips! thanks for letting us bring our dog, he enjoyed swimming there and hanging out on the dock with us. thanks for the great place.
Great place to stay
This home is in an amazing location. The lake is beautiful and having the pontoon to take out made it even greater. Everything is clean and ready to be used. I stayed with my kids and couldn't have asked for anything better.
