This cute little cottage has two bedrooms and 1 bath, with a living room and kitchen and is all on one level (no basement), with off-street parking. The neighborhood (about 3.5 miles north of downtown Seattle) is quiet (on a dead-end street) and within walking distance of buses and restaurants. The house is furnished with all new furniture (mostly Euro-styled), including a queen-size bed in the master bedroom and a double-size futon/coach in the 2nd bedroom/study. The kitchen is fully equipped, including an espresso machine. Most of the appliances (washer/dryer, gas range, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher) are new and whole place has been renovated within the past couple of years. It has a gas fireplace, with forced air gas heating and A/C. There is high-speed internet with a wireless router with cable and phone outlets in both bedrooms and living room. The yard is fully fenced and landscaped (with a pond and water fountain), and has a great view (to the west) of Magnolia, Queen Anne, & Ballard with water and mountains. The living room and master bedroom have French doors to the back-yard (and view), with a covered patio off the bedroom, and includes a barbeque and fire-pit.
We are a professional couple with (almost) grown children. We have lived in the Seattle area for more than 25 years.
Peter Myler purchased this cottage in 2012
We fell in love with the great water and mountain view from this cute little cottage and hope to down-size and move here full-time within the next few years.
Quiet, conventient and affordable location, close to funky Fremont and newly invigorated Ballard, and only 15 minutes from downtown.
Our stay met all expectations. The owner was super responsive through out the entire process. We had everything we needed at the home and it was perfectly located in an awesome part of Seattle. We recommend it highly.
We spent two nights at View Cottage. It's aptly named with a wonderful harbor view. The house is comfortable and nicely furnished. We cooked a wonderful dinner in the kitchen and also enjoyed eating out at some of the great restaurants in the area. I loved all the windows. Peter was very responsive when we had a question. In a town with a lot of vacation rentals run by big companies, we really appreciated a place that was managed by a responsible owner.
This small house with a big yard and gorgeous view is a perfect spot. It was perfectly maintained, comfortable and lovely to stay in. Thank you!
This property was perfect for us, close to our daughter and family, able to walk to their house every morning and return in the evening. Very comfortable layout, clean and well maintained furnishings, plenty of towels, blankets etc. We only used the tea kettle in the kitchen and the only thing I would give a mediocre mark on would be the pots and pans, old, scratched Teflon type! Not what I like to use. We cooked at our daughters and went out! Walked to Rock fish grill? right near u needa burger, and Pecada Bueno, across the street? Not sure of the names but excellent food. Also Lighthouse coffee shop!!! We walked downtown Fremont and Ballard, all very accessible from the house, heart pumping hills and unique shopping.
We will certainly be back. We didn't get to meet Peter but very responsive to emails prior to our arrival and really no needs during our stay, easy instructions re doors, tv, fireplace.
The cottage is off the beaten path, a good gps helps, but worth finding. Sadly, the weather was not conducive to fully enjoying the back yard and patio but we did have a beautiful sunrise over the Olympics our first morning. There is also a little "pocket park" on Palatine Ave. above the cottage with sweeping views (Fremont View Park). Worth the walk up the stairs.
There were some housekeeping issues which the owner immediately addressed to our satisfaction.
Will definitely rent there again.
The cottage was on a quiet street and as described. It was clean and comfortable. The gas fireplace in the living room was great in the mornings while having coffee and enjoying the view. Although we didn't spend too much time there, it certainly was nice to come "home" after a long day.
Palatine Cottage is located in the Ballard/Fremont/Phinney Ridge neighborhood, about 4 miles north of downtown Seattle. It is within walking distance of many restaurants and Woodland Park Zoo. There is easy bus access to downtown (Pike Place market), Seattle Center (Science Center, EMP) and the University of Washington.
