About Linda Lloyd

We were childhood sweethearts who have been married since after high school. We purchsed in Carova Beach because of the beauty, solitude and peacefulness. Being able to drive on the beach and enjoy many freedoms was extremely attractive to us. We valued bringing our children to this area where they could enjoy a more calm, 'back to nature' type existence.

Linda Lloyd purchased this house in 1988

Why Linda Lloyd chose Outer Banks

Carova Beach is a photograher's or natuarlist's dream come true. Not only do the horses 'own' the beaches and surrounding dunes, but we have foxes, deer, egrets, dolphins, to mention a few. All this beauty and only 9 miles south to a nightlife that would please anyone.

What makes this house unique

By day enjoy the clean beaches, strolling, swimming, sunning and shelling. At night take the family into Corolla for quality dining, family fun . You are getting the best of both worlds...................

Would highly recommend!!

I concur with the previous reviewers. Linda is great to work with, answers questions quickly and makes sure that you are well taken care of. The house has all of the amenities that you need. We had ages 2 to 53 and ALL had a great time. The icemaker in the fridge looks small but it kept all of us in ice for the week. If you do happen to run out though, the fire station sells ice for $3 and they are very friendly people as well. The beach was perfect. If you like big waves go at high tide. If you like more calm waters, go at low tide. We did not have a 4-wheel drive, just a Suburban but we let most of the air out of the tires and we made it just fine driving on the beach. The conditions do change somewhat from day to day though. We loved seeing the horses and would certainly consider staying here again.

I wish there were more stars to give - incredible experience

  • 5 of 5

We were absolutely blown away by this experience, the cottage and its gracious owner Linda. It was truly an adventure but at the same time provided much needed R&R! It is so fun to feel like you have your own private compound but you can still venture into town for a great dinner or to go sightseeing. We already want to book for next year because it was that great. First, the house is super clean and thoughtfully arranged with many areas for relaxing and conversation. There is much more space inside than the pictures show, inside and out. The upper deck overlooks the peaceful sandy beach neighborhood and of course there are wild horses roaming around which is really something to see. You will notice lots of paid tours going through Carova for the wild horses but staying here you'll see them all the time. The yard has great privacy and space for kids, our dog loved it. They have a fire pit and outdoor games too. Being in Carova is something everyone should experience, it is such a great place to connect with nature and disconnect from stress. The house has great WiFi and new flat screen tv's, we enjoyed the pool table in the basement. The whole place was super clean and the bedrooms were very comfortable. I was also very happy that there is a big kitchen with plenty of tools and everything you need. We cooked a lot so this was very nice. The local fire station sells ice cream, toys and souvenirs which wr loved. Additionally, when you stay here you just take your 4x4 vehicle right to the beach, park and you essentially have your own strip of private beach because everyone respects your space and they are spread out. Talk about relaxing! Linda was amazing to work with and I feel like I've made a friend for life - she is an incredible woman. I've never dealt with anyone so kind and caring. My father and I are disabled and being able to park at the beach and not walk much made all the difference. Everyone we have told about the trip wishes they could have been there. Overall our whole family agrees this was a huge blessing, a one of a kind vacation and we can't wait to go back!

Adventurous getaway

  • 5 of 5

The property owner Linda is great to work with. The house is nice and has all the amenities you'll need. We really enjoyed the beach and quality family time. One morning we saw horses grazing just below the deck. All of the other beach goers seemed nice and courteous.

Thanks again Linda

This was an amazing family vacation! We were able to have internet access on our laptop, but due to the kids not having continuous wi-fi it allowed a lot of family time in the evenings to play board games, go for walks, play pool, and actually spend quality time with our teenagers! We all loved seeing the wild horses daily on the beach. The owners were absolutely wonderful to work with. Linda was always quick to respond and answer any questions we had. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxing, fun family vacation. Thank you Linda for such a wonderful experience!

Our cottage sweet retreat is located in an area that is often referred to as the 'Last Frontier', an area of peace, tranquality, and beauty on gorgorous , wide, clean, beaches on the pristine Atlantic Ocean. The beauty of this 4 wheel drive area is that it is secluded and remote and hosts over 100 wild horses that roam the area in total freedom and grace. During the day you can enjoy driving and parking on the beach and enjoy all the wildlife and freedom. Then at night by driving 9 miles south you are back on the hard surface road in Corolla NC to enjoy 5 star resturants, shopping and family entertainment and landmarks that come straight from the history books.
