About Sara Klobas

We are Ryan and Sara Klobas. We have two boys, Preston (11) and Vance (8). Both of us are native Oregonians and grew up walking the sands and playing in the great waters of the Oregon Coast. Our parents moved here in the 60's and settled in to have a family. We now reside in NE Portland and LOVE Oregon!!

Sara Klobas purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Sara Klobas chose Coastal Oregon

We found this little pink cottage through our sister in law, who lives in Cape Meares full time. We put the word out that we were looking, and after about a year, this little gem popped up as a potential purchase. We spoke to the owner several times and soon shook hands and made a deal. Since then, we have made this place our home away from home.

What makes this cottage unique

There is so much to love about Cape Meares. The 4 miles of uncrowded beach, the drive up the bay, the birds singing as you walk past the lake on the way to the beach, the friendly neighbors, the bright beautiful stars on a clear nite, riding bikes on the spit and beyond, the tidepools if you're there when the tide is LOW, the deck, the wood stove, the great meals on the BBQ, walking forever on the beach or picking blackberries late in Summer. It's just a great place to get away from the craziness of being home.

A delightful gem

  • 5 of 5

Peptide is a delightful gem in a quiet town right on the ocean. The home is cozy, clean and has everything you need on vacation. The owner, Sara, is responsive and accommodating (we asked for another day and she rearranged the cleaning etc. to allow us to add on a day at a moments notice.) The house sits in a nice yard in a quiet and pretty neighborhood with a 3 minute walk to the ocean. You can hear the waves all night. The town is nestled at the base of Cape Meares. There are no services but Tillamook is only 7 miles away along a pretty road. The beach is excellent. You can walk for miles along the coast and dunes without passing a house or car, only the gulls and pelicans are there to notice. This house and little town are a hidden gem along the gorgeous Oregon Coast.

Family of 4 enjoys affordable vacation

  • 5 of 5

I want so bad to write this place was AWFUL!!!! so we can keep it all to our self's. We love this beautiful kitschy Cottage. From the Christmas lights in the living room and Kitchen to the wonderful art on the walls. Now I will be the first to admit this probably not everybody's cup of tea there isn't a fancy hot tub no dishwasher and your miles away from any store. But it also what makes this a awesome location. We didn't have to put up with crowds. An we spent quality time with each other. Many in our family have allergies to dogs and cats and were happy to see pets are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the bedding. Wonderful directions were left in the booklet including the YMCA pool scheduled and phone number and lots to explore. We have to children that 7 and 8 and packing enough clean clothes for a trip can be challenging so we really love having a washer and dryer at our disposal. I loved cooking meals in this well equipped kitchen and we saved a ton of money that made this vacation affordable. So much better then eating out or staying in a hotel. We were able to drop our garbage off with the local service in Tillamook for just 5 bucks and did our own sorting for the recyclables. We hope to book the Peptide again and again.

Owner's Response: Thank you so very much for taking the time to write a review on our beach home. The first thing I saw was the word AWFUL and I momentarily felt a shock shoot thru my heart. Luckily, I read on. I understand the way you feel about our place. We love it and love having people like you stay and enjoy it as well.

Nostalgic Property

  • 4 of 5

This cute little pink house is on a dead end road and a short walk to the beach, and a short drive to Tillamook (in town had high tea at LaTEAda, highly recommend). It has a nice yard and deck for grilling or entertaining friends. We were visited by a deer, who didn't give a hoot if we were close by and watching him. Very peaceful & serene, just what we senior citizens were looking for. The house was well stocked with everything we needed, and more (books, movies, games). There are pegs for hanging clothes, no closets but plenty of drawer space. We guessed the age to be 1940-50's, so be OK with what goes along with that...requires being conservative with the plumbing and water and not afraid of a little mustiness, which in fact goes away with the dehumidifier and opening up windows. Very nice and accommodating owner.

Cute cottage near the beach!

  • 4 of 5

We needed to stay in the Cape Mears/Oceanside/Cape Lookout area for a wedding and this place was available and affordable. And it is a cute cottage by the beach. We had a good stay and had everything that we needed, including a washer and dryer...which was handy for the one load we needed to wash.

The only downside was no fault of the owner, but rather an act of nature. In the spring of 2015 the road from Cape Mears Beach (The Scenic Three Cape Road) was washed away due to massive rainfall. We were not aware of this, again no fault of the owner. For many folks this would be no big deal but if you want to go a short distance to the Cape Mears Lighthouse Park and onto Oceanside/Netarts/Cape Lookout, you'll have to go back to Tillamook and down the main highway. We made several trips down to visit with other family members and for the wedding (and preparations). Bummer. Long way around each time. Hopefully, they will get this fixed but I assume it's a major rock slide since it's July 2016 and still not open. If you are not planning to turn south on the scenic problem! Just a stone's throw away is the driveway to Peptide. Cape Mears Beach Road is not affected.

Thanks for everything Sarah!

Car: necessary

The Peptide is located in Cape Meares. Cape Meares is one of the 3 capes on the Scenic Route on the Oregon coast and sits on the south end of the Tillamook Bay. There are 4 miles of uncrowded beach to enjoy as you stroll, play or relax on on the shore. Fishing, biking, kayaking, canoeing, birdwatching and hiking are just some of the great activities to do while visiting CM and if you would like to venture into town (aprox. 7 miles), you may like to get some ice cream at the Tillamook Cheese Factory, pick up some fresh Netarts Bay oysters at JAndy's Oyster Co. (call first and ask what's available 503-812-0253), check out the vintage planes at the Air Museum, sample some cheese and wine at the Blue Heron Cheese Factory and take a train ride on a Steam Engine from Garibaldi to Rockaway and back.

There are many species of birds who make Cape Meares and the Bay their home. Blue Herons are a common site, as well as Bald Eagles, Osprey and smaller birds such as Red Winged Black Birds. There have been sightings of deer, elk, porcupine, beaver, bear and more.

Cape Meares is a wooded area. There are no stores, restaurants or gas stations. It is a place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. So if you are looking for a small town feel, come here and experience Cape Meares at the Peptide!
