I'm a Virginia native who vacationed in Lake Tahoe as a child, and absolutely fell in love with the area. I moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1998. Now living full time in my R.V, I keep this cabin as a vacation home. We really enjoyed decorating this cabin in a rustic motif.
Chris Freese purchased this cabin in 2009
Old Tahoe charm
This house is exactly what you imagine for a cozy Tahoe cabin. Cozy 1940's feel surrounded with wood accents . Located at the 'Y' at the end of town closer to the nice beaches and shopping.
Beautiful little cabin, perfect for two. Not a great neighborhood, but so close to everything, more than makes up for it. Close to hiking and downtown SLT - would definitely recommend, and great about pets too.
Cabin was ready for our arrival. Clean, well supplied and very comfortable.
The dogs next door were added entertainment while relaxing in the backyard.
The only issue we encountered was the wifi connection info given to us, was not the wifi connection info that was current.
The info in the binder on the table was correct. Easily fixed.
Thank you, Chris for allowing us to rent your home.
It was a great weekend.
Great spot!! We totally enjoyed our stay at this comfy little cottage! Would definitely stay again when we return to the Lake Tahoe area. Thanks, Chris!
Cute little house in a very convenient location in South Lake. Great amenities and well-maintained. The owner certainly takes pride in the property.
Darling interior with refreshing vintage features, including knotty pine walls and ceilings, which create a cozy and warm interior. The open design of the living room and simple kitchen keeps things airy and bright. The gas fireplace heats the whole house well and is backed up by a wall unit in the bedroom that looks like a neon fire. I thought it looked weird at first but grew to like it. I'm in the group of reviewers that felt the bed was taco-like, but we slept better the second night after ditching the polyester bedspread.
We chose this end of South Lake (and this cabin) for its old school charm, as opposed to modern monstrosity and gleam, because it allows dogs, and because it is far from the casinos and close to outdoor activities. We zipped out south 89 to Carson Pass for snowshoeing and ate dinner at Sorensen's on Saturday then followed up Sunday with a day hike to Cascade Falls, walking the dog along Kiva Beach and worked in Beacon's on the lake for a sunset cocktail.
We were surprised when we arrived to see this little cutie stuck in a rundown neighborhood, complete with a broken car in front of the house and an RV stashed on the side (although the RV provided a little privacy block from the neighbor's shack while we soaked in the sweet hot tub). In the middle of winter these unsightly sights probably aren't much of an issue but in warmer months the bare yard and surrounding houses in the back could be a downer. Regardless, the dog loved it and we had a lovely time. PS - I'm a coffee snob and tried in vain to find a melitta cone filter in town to add to the kitchen cupboard, but ended up coaxing a decent pot by pouring water from the kettle over the Mr Coffee basket.
Cute, cozy...but thermostat needs to be fixed. Either full on and place gets too hot or turn off and too cold overnight. Bed too soft.. Need new mattress.
