The Lil House is a four bedroom, three bath, with a porch all the way around allowing for a breeze at anytime of the day or night. It has the best view of the sunset on Dauphin Island allowing for memorable front porch memories. The sandy yard with seawall just feet from the porch allows for the best of both island worlds--sand fun for the kids, and boat access for the sports enthusiast. The fishing from seawall/boardwalk is great both day and night. Dolphins are frequent visitors at Lil House and can often be seen swimming in front of the house. So whether you are a family with small children, or snowbirds looking for tranquility, or a fishing enthusiast, the Lil House is for you!

About Susan Carley
I am a 49 year old mother of two middle schoolers living in Mobile, Alabama with my husband, Kevin. I own a coffee shop in the historic part of town called Cream & Sugar Café. We live just a short 35 minute drive from the island where we love ALL water sports and just watching the sunsets and dolphins....that never gets old!
Susan Carley purchased this House in 1974
Why Susan Carley chose Royal Lagoons
My grandmother, Lil, built this beautiful island house in the early 70's and I grew up coming to the house every summer with my six cousins and two siblings. We have fond memories of running the seawall chasing porpoises, fishing morning and night, and crabbing with chicken bones with my grandmother. Now my children run the seawalls, catch our dinner, and swim in the very water that we did as children.
What makes this House unique
My uncle designed the house to be like a steamboat with a porch 'deck' all the way around the house, doors in every room that open out onto the 'deck', and water views from every window. The front porch with swing and rocking chairs offers the best sunset view on the island. It also sits so close to the seawall that the adults can sit in the shade (of upstairs or downstairs deck) and watch the kids as they swim, ski, or kayak in front of the house. Because the house is situated on a cul-de-sac, the children can ride their bikes and play safely with other neighborhood kids. The house faces the Mississippi Sound allowing for good fishing and boat access, but is directly across the street from Lafitte Bay which is a no wake zone and allows for great, safe place for kayaking or swimming. The house is just a short two block walk from the Gulf front beaches which gives you the option of a day at the beach or a day of watersports. The kids will also love sandcrabbing on the beach at night!

A Wonderful Vacation
Our Home Away vacation has given us many good memories to talk about forever. Everything was pretty near perfect. The house had everything furnished. The views from every angle were like painted pictures, something new every day. Fishing was great once I learned how, the seafood delicious, my bike rides everyday, being with family, the ferry rides to Wolf Bay, just sitting out on the porch drinking my coffee.....on and on and on. The dolphins putting on a show and Mr. Blue waiting on me to catch his fish for him. Were the highlights. What a Wonderful vacation God blessed us with.
We are thrilled to hear your vacation was so awesome Vickie! Coffee on the front porch and watching the dolphins is always my favorite thing also. We hope you return to Lil House again some day. Mr Blue will be waiting!
Location, location, location! Beautiful sunsets and great fishing!
The water front home has everything you need for a great week. The home is rustic and does need some updates in the baths and kitchen. However, the location and all the extras the home provides evens out! The decor is so cute and the views from the porch are breathtaking!
Our family had a great time! The Lil House worked perfectly for us. There was 8 of us and we were all very comfortable. We loved seeing the dolphins play and the dock worked perfectly for my nephew (who lives in Mobile) to bring his boat and tie it up. We spent most of the time on the top deck in the swings watching staring at the beautiful scenery. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone that wants to be right on the water. Thank you Susan for sharing your little slice of heaven with us.
This was our second time staying at Lil House and we had a wonderful time. This time we fished off the dock and caught over 15 fish!! Not all keepers but it was so much fun. Walk out the door and down the steps - then fish! We enjoyed the bird watching for this time of year. We took in the parks this time and I recommend everyone do that. We watched a storm come in. Susan sent her son over to take down the swings and put the chairs and cushions away. We were very grateful for that. If you want the feel of relaxation, outdoor sitting and an uncomplicated trip, Lil House is just for you. Comfort all the way!!! Thank you Susan for another fantastic trip!!
We are so glad you enjoyed the house and the many opportunities for rest and relaxation offered at the island. We hope to see you again next year if not before!
Very relaxing, we were able to enjoy our family!!
The house had picture perfect views! We were able to see dolphins every day from the porch! That is something our daughter and grand daughters will never forget! We were also able to enjoy the kayaks and paddle board! I wish we could have stayed longer! We hope to be able to come back again in a few years. We had excellent weather as well!! Thank you Susan for allowing us to stay in your home!
We are so happy to hear you made lasting memories at Lil House. And glad the dolphins didn’t disappoint! Hope to see you next time!
Good times in Dauphin Island
We had a great time at “LilHouse”. The house had everything we needed. The weather was a little cold the first two weeks but then it got nice and warm. We did a lot of exploring to Bayou La Batre, Mobile, Fort Morgan and Orange beach. Enjoyed all of the Mardi Gras celebrations while we were there.
