The Courtyard Suite

From the moment you open the gate onto your secluded patio and enter the Courtyard Suite, you are welcomed into the cozy charms of this two bedroom, two bath suite. Attached to a tranquil country home, and suitable for two couples or a family of four, this self-contained 1400 sq.ft. suite delights with its attention to detail and peaceful ambiance.

With panoramic views across the pastoral reaches of Mt. Newton Valley to the snow-capped mountains of the Olympic Range in Washington, enjoy morning tea or a candlelit dinner on your private patio amidst the English Country gardens with the waters of the Pacific Ocean close by.

Comfort and relaxation have been the key words for the design and execution of this unique property. Each master suite offers a Queen-sided bed with fine linens and sufficient drawers and closets for you to put your bags away and be at home during your stay. The attached bathrooms provide comfy bathrobes and extra towels, luxuriously appointed with local hand-crafted soaps and shampoos.

Your kitchen is fully equipped with every convenience and the pantry is stocked with spices, oils and condiments for your cooking pleasure. Your patio has a BBQ and comfy patio set for your outdoor dining enjoyment. If you are a late arrival, there will be fresh scones waiting in the fridge to savor in the morning.

During the summer months, take a glass of wine out to your patio and watch the skies light up with explosive colors every Saturday evening, compliments of the Butchart Gardens Summer firework show.

All year, away from the lights of the city, the night sky is filled with the stars and constellations of our Universe. In the stillness of Heathwood, enjoy star-gazing or watch the Perseids Meteor Shower from mid-July to mid-August.

We encourage you to explore the stunning beauty of Supernatural BC. Centrally located on the Saanich Peninsula, local activities are just moments away. Whether you like to commune with nature, hike trails, walk along beaches, whale watch, kayak, tour gardens and wineries or shop local artist’s galleries and boutiques, Heathwood is close to them all.

Take a short drive into Victoria to see the Parliament Building, the Provincial Museum or enjoy high tea at the historic Empress Hotel.

Come share the sweeping views and cozy ambiance of Heathwood Estates with us.

Your hosts, Jacqueline & Ollie

About The Owner

My Husband and I have travelled extensively. When, one day we sailed to Vancouver Island, we were captivated by the beauty of this entire area and knew that we had found a gem. We felt incredibly fortunate that we really stumbled on this stunning Island and knew that this is where we would love make our permanent home.

The Owner purchased this estate in 2006

Why The Owner chose British Columbia

The absolute beauty and uniqueness of the valley captivated us. The home with its beautiful gardens and spectacular views. We face South overlooking this beautiful valley, through to the Olympic Mountains of Washington. We can see the Ferries crossing from Brentwood Bay to Mill Bay. We enjoy the proximity to Victoria and the Inner Harbour to the South of us and the picturesque town of Sidney-by-the-sea to the North of us all within minutes away. We are always so happy to return to the Beauty, peace and tranquility of our home. Our property provides an ideal setting for our Equestrian activities, we can enjoy watching our horses grazing peacefully in their pastures..

Owner's Response: Dear Lila and Rose, Thank you so much for taking the time, not only for posting your delightful review of your stay with us for the month of March, but also for creating a lyrical verse. Ollie and I were so happy to see the great improvement Rose made following her surgery, as she commented "It must be the wonderful air here" I do hope that Rose continues with the same rate of progress. We enjoyed meeting both of you. Thank you for choosing to stay with us here at Heathwood. Regards, Jacqueline & Ollie

Beautiful rural retreat

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful location in the country and exceptional comfort in the accommodations. We travelled with our two adult daughters and the second bedroom and bathroom was perfect. The kitchen was very well stocked with any condiments we needed for the breakfasts we had together. The fresh fruit and eggs along with a delicious bottle of wine were an unexpected but much appreciated touch. The suite is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable and there were lots of towels in the bathrooms. We felt very special staying in such luxurious accommodations- so much nicer than a hotel.

Country relaxation with attention to detail!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed four nights after a hectic schedule elsewhere and were warmly received by our hosts the first evening when we joined them for conversation and a beverage. The grounds are inviting and the apartment fully equipped for a most pleasant stay. Spotlessly clean with crisp bed linens and cozy comforters. It was easy to take some down time with comfortable chairs, good television and books to read. Easy access to airport and island venues and very close to amazing grocery store if you wanted to prepare meals. Informative materials on site.

Owner's Response: Dear Sue and John, Thank you for the very nice review of your stay with us in the Courtyard Suite here at Heathwood. Following your very demanding schedule (although so rewarding) you certainly needed a well- deserved rest. Ollie and I are very pleased to know that you were able to find the well- earned rest and relaxation here with us. We have just installed a fireplace in the living room which adds further to the warm ambiance..... It is so cozy and truly invites feet up on the foot stool and relax! We also enjoyed our visit and pleasant conversation with both of you Thank you for taking the time to join us . Sincerely, Jacqueline and Ollie

Happy travelers 👍

I can't say enough wonderful things about Heathwood and the very lovely owners, Jacqueline and Ollie! As VRBO owners we always look at the comments prior to booking properties for our own personal vacations and business trips. If you were considering visiting the beautiful Vancouver island, this is the place to stay! It was a perfect five nights in an extremely comfortable and peaceful suite. We received a warm welcome from Jacque and a very friendly dogs. A fully outfitted kitchen lovely living room dining area and two very comfortable bedrooms. Both bathrooms were fully equipped with everything we needed and more. The full kitchen was fantastic for making our own breakfast every morning and a couple of dinners. Most of the condiments anyone would want were there for us to use. We also appreciated the use of our own gas barbecue and two private patios. Although being tired from traveling we enjoyed watching the fireworks in the distance at Buchart Gardens ( A 10 minute ride) the first night we were there. As others have mentioned in the reviews the Gardens at Heathwood were exceptionally beautiful! It is obvious that these lovely owners have put many years of thought and love into this beautiful property that they share with those who are fortunate enough to stay there. It's about a 10 minute drive from Victoria airport and easy to find. We loved being in more of a rural setting than a bustling city. Downtown Victoria was fun to visit for a day with many options to choose from. There is a lovely walk around the harbor and if you're tired along the way you can take a water taxi back to the center of the harbor in front of the Empress Hotel. We ate dinner tonight at the nearby Brentwood Bay pub. The food was very good and reasonably priced along with very nice servers. If you're looking for a true getaway to rejuvenate make sure that you book early and enjoy Heathwood and all it has to offer! We will recommend it to everyone we know and hope to return in the near future! K&V from USA

Owner's Response: Dear Vicki and Keith, Thank you so much for posting this complimentary and informative review of your stay with us here at Heathwood. We are so pleased that you arrived in time to enjoy the fireworks from your own private patio. ( The firework display every Saturday night throughout the Summer months at Butchart gardens can be enjoyed from the private patio of the Courtyard Suite) So pleased that you found the Kitchen and Bathrooms organized and well stocked with many little extras. We are very happy to admit that our cleaning staff are wonderful and always take the time not only to clean thoroughly but also to make sure that the Kitchen and Bathrooms are well organized with plenty of extras for our guests to enjoy. We are so pleased that you found and enjoyed the walk around the Inner Harbour. There is always so much to see and do in Victoria There is also a lovely walk around the Ocean in Sidney by the sea which is only a 10 minute drive from us. As there are many good restaurants it is nice to stop for a relaxing lunch . Ollie and I were delighted to meet you and feel very fortunate that we manage to attract such delightful people as yourselves. Knowing how busy your lives are we are particularly pleased that you were able to find the time to relax here at Heathwood. We look forward to seeing you again in the not too distant future. Best Wishes, Jacqueline and Ollie

Great Estate/Fantastic Host

  • 5 of 5

After determining we would vacation this summer in Victoria BC, I began to search for a VRBO location for our stay.

I researched many and was especially intrigued by Heathwood and their positive reviews.

We decided to book this location and our expectations were not only met, but were exceeded. The location is absolutely stunning, the furnishings were very nice/comfortable (high thread count linens and quality mattress/pillows) and the host were wonderful. This is a garden estate that is both private and beautiful.

If we return to Victoria, you can be sure we will hope to book this location again.

Of additional note, while not on the water, you have a fantastic water view of one of the inlets and it was great only having a 15 minute stress free drive to the airport for our early departure.

Owner's Response: Dear Mike, Janet and Mathew, Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review of your stay with us here at Heathwood. You were all such delightful guests. We are so pleased that you enjoyed a wonderful holiday here on this beautiful Island. Your experience whale watching was fabulous.. To be able to site about 60 whales from your zodiac must have been absolutely spectacular. I feel sure that memory will stay with you and give you pleasure for a very long time. A short note to elaborate on our discussion regarding the fact that we, in this area continue to enjoy the trust of the"honour system" especially at our local farm markets. I was driving at about 7 o'clock in the evening when I passed what appeared to be a local organic farm that was still open to the public. I stopped my car, drove around and went into the farm which was about 2 acres of vegetables and fruit farming. as far as my eye could see the farm was immaculate. The fruits and vegetable growing in the fields looked so healthy and delicious. I went inside the shop to purchase my chosen fruits and vegetable to find that when I went to pay for my produce there was a plastic container with the lid off. The days proceeds sitting in the container along with a little note that simply said "help yourself to change"! I stood looking around me enjoying the lovely environment. I have to admit I felt so fortunate to live in a part of the world where this trust still exists. This really is a special place. Ollie and I look forward to seeing you again. Best Wishes, Jacqueline
