At Heathwood , we offer two immaculate suites for your vacation enjoyment. The Courtyard Suite VRBO#418478...... and the Sunrise Suite VRBO # 460481. The Courtyard Suite

From the moment you open the gate onto your secluded patio and enter the Courtyard Suite, you are welcomed into the cozy charms of this two bedroom, two bath suite. Attached to a tranquil country home, and suitable for two couples or a family of four, this self-contained 1400 sq.ft. suite delights with its attention to detail and peaceful ambiance.

With panoramic views across the pastoral reaches of Mt. Newton Valley to the snow-capped mountains of the Olympic Range in Washington, enjoy morning tea or a candlelit dinner on your private patio amidst the English Country gardens with the waters of the Pacific Ocean close by.

Comfort and relaxation have been the key words for the design and execution of this unique property. Each master suite offers a Queen-sided bed with fine linens and sufficient drawers and closets for you to put your bags away and be at home during your stay. The attached bathrooms provide comfy bathrobes and extra towels, luxuriously appointed with local hand-crafted soaps and shampoos.

Your kitchen is fully equipped with every convenience and the pantry is stocked with spices, oils and condiments for your cooking pleasure. Your patio has a BBQ and comfy patio set for your outdoor dining enjoyment. If you are a late arrival, there will be fresh scones waiting in the fridge to savor in the morning.

During the summer months, take a glass of wine out to your patio and watch the skies light up with explosive colors every Saturday evening, compliments of the Butchart Gardens Summer firework show.

All year, away from the lights of the city, the night sky is filled with the stars and constellations of our Universe. In the stillness of Heathwood, enjoy star-gazing or watch the Perseids Meteor Shower from mid-July to mid-August.

We encourage you to explore the stunning beauty of Supernatural BC. Centrally located on the Saanich Peninsula, local activities are just moments away. Whether you like to commune with nature, hike trails, walk along beaches, whale watch, kayak, tour gardens and wineries or shop local artist’s galleries and boutiques, Heathwood is close to them all.

Take a short drive into Victoria to see the Parliament Building, the Provincial Museum or enjoy high tea at the historic Empress Hotel.

Come share the sweeping views and cozy ambiance of Heathwood Estates with us.

Your hosts, Jacqueline & Ollie

About The Owner

My Husband and I have travelled extensively. When, one day we sailed to Vancouver Island, we were captivated by the beauty of this entire area and knew that we had found a gem. We felt incredibly fortunate that we really stumbled on this stunning Island and knew that this is where we would love make our permanent home.

The Owner purchased this estate in 2006

Why The Owner chose British Columbia

The absolute beauty and uniqueness of the valley captivated us. The home with its beautiful gardens and spectacular views. We face South overlooking this beautiful valley, through to the Olympic Mountains of Washington. We can see the Ferries crossing from Brentwood Bay to Mill Bay. We enjoy the proximity to Victoria and the Inner Harbour to the South of us and the picturesque town of Sidney-by-the-sea to the North of us all within minutes away. We are always so happy to return to the Beauty, peace and tranquility of our home. Our property provides an ideal setting for our Equestrian activities, we can enjoy watching our horses grazing peacefully in their pastures..

What makes this estate unique

The Unique Benefits at this Estate:

The absolute beauty and uniqueness of the valley allows us to live in the heart of the countryside, surrounded by farms producing fresh local produce where the honor system is still often used.We are in the perfect location; with easy access to Victoria the capital city of British Columbia, a short 15

minute drive. Or if we wish to explore this magnificent Island the Pacific Marine Circle Route is the perfect one-day drive. Including visiting West Coast beaches and parks, world famous ancient forests and mammoth trees… with interesting and quaint places to see along the way such as “Point No Point” for tea with a stunning view, French Beach, China Beach, Port Renfrew and the fascinating Botanical Gardens the trailhead of Pacific Rim Park, Cowichan Lake , the list is immense. After a day of sight seeing and discovering new places to return to the peace, beauty and tranquility of Heathwood is a treasure we never take for granted. Victoria and the South Island region is home to many exceptionally talented chefs who turn local products into memorable dining experiences. Taste the amazing foods from the region, fresh produce, Pacific seafood, fine wines and ales at the restaurants in the area or bring the delights you find home to enjoy in your “home away from home” – Heathwood.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Jacqui,

We really did enjoy the relaxing atmosphere that was there at Heathwood. Along with you being more than accommodating to us in allowing us the use of the downstairs to store our bikes while we were there. My brother and his wife along with Jennifer and I truly enjoyed our stay there. When we come through again, maybe even to do this race again, we will be looking to stay at Heathwood. Thanks again, we look forward to another meeting.

Beautiful, tranquil estate

  • 5 of 5

We, my 3 girlfriends and I, spent 5 days, 4 nights at Heathwood in the Courtyard Suite and it was wonderful. Jacqueline and Ollie are the perfect hosts. The suite is equipped with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is stocked with gadgets galore, pots/pans, glasses/mugs a coffee pot and a french press coffee pot. Each bathroom comes with toiletries and luxurious towels. The one thing we didn’t realize, so I’m putting it in my review, is that one of the bedrooms and bathrooms are downstairs. The bathroom downstairs is rather small but functional. The shower stall in this bathroom however is very small. We spent almost all of our time on the deck enjoying the view and the quiet. Jacqueline greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the grounds and the suite so we knew where everything was. We were also treated to a wonderful bottle of wine upon arrival, chilled and ready to drink. Heathwood is close to everything; stores, restaurants and the water but you would think you were miles away. I highly recommend this rental for anyone visiting the area.

Comfortable and a great location

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying 5 nights and found that the accommodations were perfect for our needs. The owners went above and beyond what was expected to make every need met, even allowing us to use an "extra" room for storage while we were there. The property is stocked with everything needed to be self sufficient and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The property has amazing, views, is quiet and close to anything you need to get to. We look forward to coming again and enjoying more of what the area has to offer. Thank you for a perfect setting among the gardens of Heathwood.

Owner's Response: Hello Tom, Thank you so much for taking the time from your busy life to write a review of your stay with us in the Courtyard Suite. You gave us an opportunity to learn a little about the tryathlon that you competed in here. You travelled such a long way with all of your equipment we were only too happy to help with the storage of your valuable bicycles. We are so pleased that you found the race a success and we look forward to seeing you again next year. You were stella guests. Enjoy a year ahead with many successes. Our very Best Wishes to you and your family, Jacqueline and Ollie

Garden Paradise

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a beautiful location for your vacation, this is the one. Jacqui and Ollie are wonderful hosts and the accommodations are luxurious and well designed. The front deck, which faces east and overlooks the valley and the snowcapped mountains of Washington state, is a perfect spot for your morning coffee. The gardens at Heathwood Cottage rival Butchart Gardens for its beauty and variety. The cottage is centrally located for touring the southern coast beaches, the wineries, and the town of Victoria. Fly into Vancouver International and take the ferry across to the island, since that is an experience in itself. If you have a chance to stay here, don't pass up the opportunity.

Owner's Response: Hi Pam, Thank you for writing such a lovely review of your stay with us It is so nice to hear that you were able to take pleasure in our gardens although it was early in the year. We are so fortunate to enjoy such a mild climate that allows many of our annuals to survive the winter months. Which gives us a wide range of flowers as well as flowering shrubs and trees very early in the Spring. Ollie and I enjoyed meeting you and your friends. We "Thank you" for choosing to stay with us here at Heathwood. Enjoy your garden, we look forward to seeing you again one day. Kind Regards, Jacqueline

This suite sets the VRBO bar high!!

  • 5 of 5

Heathwood is what you dream of when renting a VRBO. All pictures are current and accurate. The beds are very plush and comfortable. Everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING you need to feel at home is here. From Q-Tips to plush robes in the bath and a truly well stocked kitchen you won't be disappointed here. Jacque and Ollie were always helpful with suggestions but never intrusive. If you are concerned about staying with the owners on site, don't be. The suite entrance and patio are very private. We felt like we were out in the country, yet only 4 minutes to town. Can't wait to return.

Owner's Response: Dear Cathy, Thank you for such a complimentary and helpful review of your stay with us here at Heathwood. Your review covers and answers the basic questions that many travellers would have in mind when trying to make the difficult decision..... where to stay while on vacation.? Ollie and I thoroughly enjoyed all of you. Ollie in particular enjoyed hearing all about Sonny and Johns great successful fishing trip. What a coincidence to meet a chef that lives close to us that offered to cook the Salmon (Your catch of the day) for you......All such fun. You were all so busy seeing and doing so much while you were here and as you said.....There is so much more to see of the Island. Ollie and I look forward to your next visit to the Island , Best Wishes, Jacqueline and Ollie

Owner's Response: Dear Lila and Rose, Thank you so much for taking the time, not only for posting your delightful review of your stay with us for the month of March, but also for creating a lyrical verse. Ollie and I were so happy to see the great improvement Rose made following her surgery, as she commented "It must be the wonderful air here" I do hope that Rose continues with the same rate of progress. We enjoyed meeting both of you. Thank you for choosing to stay with us here at Heathwood. Regards, Jacqueline & Ollie

Beautiful rural retreat

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful location in the country and exceptional comfort in the accommodations. We travelled with our two adult daughters and the second bedroom and bathroom was perfect. The kitchen was very well stocked with any condiments we needed for the breakfasts we had together. The fresh fruit and eggs along with a delicious bottle of wine were an unexpected but much appreciated touch. The suite is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable and there were lots of towels in the bathrooms. We felt very special staying in such luxurious accommodations- so much nicer than a hotel.
