Why Jennifer Moore chose Ottawa

I fell in love with this house as soon as I saw it. It is full of charming a quirky characteristics such as stained glass, leaded glass, ornate hinges, and pillars from Prime Minister Robert Borden's house.

What makes this house unique

Walking distance to everything I wanted to do including skating on the canal, attending live theatre, attending the National Art Gallery, and the bars and restaurants of Elgin St and the Byward Market.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As soon as the kids came into the house, they asked if we could live here forever. All five of us were incredibly comfortable, and we really appreciated all the homey-ness of your place. I especially enjoyed having a full, real kitchen with all the necessities. The condiments were a treat! We all liked that all the beds and seating were so cozy. Thank you for opening your home to us. We hope you enjoyed your time in Montreal!

Central Ottawa

We loved the charming Victorian home with its beautiful and interesting art pieces. The location was ideal for walking to various Ottawa landmarks. The backyard was very comfortable for relaxing outside with lots of space for our group. We all agreed that the home would be fabulous in Winter, Spring or Fall. The third floor while very spacious and quaint tended to be hot even with the fans provided. The owner was very accommodating and honest. Overall we would definitely use this property again!

Great Location

  • 3 of 5

Your home is beautiful. Our family who lives in Ottawa all complimented your home's perfect location and grandeur. My family enjoyed our stay, as we were all able to stay together under one roof which would not have been possible in a hotel with 4 adults and 4 children. One of my only complaints was that the bed in bedroom 2 on the second floor was hard as a rock! I slept so poorly during my stay. Your description reads that "each bed" has some sort of mattress topper, BUT this was not true for the bed in bedroom 2, it was akin to trying to sleep on the hardwood floor, and it was disappointing. The one other disappointment was that I was not aware that the Library led to the stairway for the 3rd floor and the loft bedroom, which due to that fact I was unable to use it as a bedroom for my child. I had planned to put his crib in there with the 4 adults in bedrooms 1 & 2, and the other 3 children (who have different sleeping schedules than my son) in the loft, but as the library was a passage way to the loft bedroom that was not possible, only because I didn't want my nieces to wake him coming down from the loft. I say this only because it would have been nice to have been aware of this detail prior to arrival. However, other than that your home was great. Thank you.

Owner's Response: Hi Philip, Thank you for your kind and generous comments. I am very happy that you enjoyed your stay in my home. Please accept my sincere apologies for the"missing" pillow top pad. As I was out of the country during your stay, I'm not really sure how it vanished and I'm deeply sorry that you slept so poorly. I thank you for bringing this to my attention and I will make sure it doesn't happen again. Thank you for also pointing out that the attic/loft is accessible through the library. I think this information will help future guests. Best wishes Philip and I hope you can visit again soon, Jennifer

One of a kind gem

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house as a setting for a murder mystery event and the location was perfect. Not only is the fact that it is central very convenient but the decor has a lot of personality. It felt homey and not impersonal like many other rentals I have seen elsewhere. The bottled water, cleaning products and other assorted extras really facilitated our stay. The owner was also very friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend this place.

Exactly what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

This home was perfect for our mini family reunion! Lots of space for everyone to sleep - comfortable beds and lots of extra linens. The kitchen was fully equipped for us to cook meals (including a turkey dinner!) and we really appreciated the variety of condiments available for our use. The house is withing easy walking distance of a vibrant old-town area full of restaurants and pubs and the wonderful walking path along the canal. One of the best things about the whole experience was dealing with the owner. Communication was fast and very clear and we appreciated her flexibility in dealing with all of our queries and needs. I highly recommmend this property and see us staying here for future visits!
