Good value

  • 4 of 5

A 3 day stay for some fishing and hiking. Location was an extra 20 minutes out of the way from most places on the main side of the river or in town, but got to see a mother moose and 2 of her cubs being out of the way. Secluded and peaceful. Clean place. Spacious. Nice yard and walk to the river. Could have been a great spot to fish if the sockeyes were running. Only negative is the lack of water pressure for the shower. Felt like showering from a sink.

It was the most perfect little cabin with all the comforts of home. It had a sink, bathroom, and washing machine and drier. It was located right on the kenai river about 17 miles outside of Soldotna. It took about 25 minutes to get into town but it was well worth it because it was very nice to get away from the people and be tucked back on your own little cabin. I went in mid-June and the fishing was okay. you will not catch any fish off of the dock in front of the cabin this time of year. If you want to catch fish in June you must get a guided trip or else you will not catch fish from the shore. Overall it was a great stay in a very scenic location.

Great View

  • 2 of 5

The view of the river and sunsets was astounding! However, the inside was a little left to be desired. The bedrooms need some serious updates. The beds are in need of new mattresses and updated, more comfortable bedding. The floors were dirty, and some we were able to sweep & clean, but the carpeted areas stayed filthy, since there was no vacuum on premise. Some ceiling fans or even plug in ones would also be a nice addition to cool it off on the hot nights. Some windows didn't have screens, so opening them only let in flies/bees.

The staircase down to the river is also in need of repair. We were fortunate enough to have considerate fisherman in the small cabin behind ours (within 15-20 feet of ours). We were not aware that there was another cabin being rented on the same site. Had the gentlemen been obnoxious, loud, late nighters we would not have been happy at all. We enjoyed the stay, but would liked to get better rest on more comfortable beds!

Loved the deck, the view and the bird feeders.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We apologize that the cabin did not meet your expectations. Your name did not show up as the person who booked this reservation on your date of stay; however, we wanted to reach out to you to get more details. We value your feed back and will address your concerns immediately. The mattresses will be replaced and we will shampoo the carpets right away. The stairs to the river will be inspected and repaired, fortunately, we have a nice easy sloped driveway to the river in the meantime. The screens will be addressed as well. Every guest signs an agreement to the rules which ensures quiet times are observed and respect to other guests on the property. When the rules are not followed, a call to our property manager should help resolve any issues.

Beautiful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time. It was far enough way from the crowds, but close enough if we needed anything we can easily travel to Soldotna to buy it. The area is beautiful and the Kenai River was fantastic. We saw a Juvenile eagle in one of the trees. The sun was out all day and night but the drapes were thick enough to block out the sun.

Thank you for the wonderful stay

Great cabin on Kenai River!!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this cabin for 4 nights in September and it was almost perfect for us! We did not need to use the heat at all but I did notice that there should be more screens on the windows. We actually opened them to cool down the place. The mosquitos weren't out because it was cool but in the middle of the summer, they could be bad. There was a queen bed in the one room and 2 twins in the other. The beds were OK but one of the twins would have to be for a kid because it sagged and was very uncomfortable for an adult. We only used 2 of the beds so we were OK. Very quiet at night and all day. There is a small hunter/fishing cabin directly behind this one but it was unoccupied when we were there. A nice house within sight but I saw no one the entire time we were there. It was fairly clean but everything is fairly old. The bathroom sink needed cleaning (which I did before I wanted to use it), but otherwise everything was fine. Kitchen had what I needed, even though we only had breakfast there. My only complaint would be that it was 15 miles in from Soldotna but on the other side of the river. No place to cross the river except past Soldatna. So if you are heading to Seward or Whittier, the trip takes at least a half hour longer than if you were in Soldotna. It would save at least an hour if there was a bridge near the cabin. But of course that's what makes it such a quiet location. No traffic buzzing by or anything. If you go to Alaska, be aware that everything closes by the 2nd week in September. Homer was completely shut down (and I mean boarded up!) Not even a place to eat! Seward was the same but we did find a couple of restaurants open. From Whittier, we took the 26 Glciers cruise which was fantastic! We got the rare totally sunny day! The 2 hour trips to Seward and Homer were not really worth it because everything was closed. If you are a fisherman, the river is right there. The water level was high and most of the platforms were under water (Glacier melting?) which normally I would expect to be low this time of year. I enjoyed my stay and would rent this place again.
