This is just a little peaceful cabin on the Pedernales River arm of Lake Travis out in the country. The River is back and there are nice views and a peaceful vibe.
This property sits up on a bluff overlooking the river. There is a steep trail down the back of the property to the river below to our boat dock. You can also drive or walk down to the end of the street to the boat dock. Although there is NO beach area, you can swim and fish off the dock.
The wrap around deck looks out over panoramic views of the hills and water. There is complete privacy on one side of the home where the hot tub is located. There are three bedrooms, but only two on the main level where the bathrooms are. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two doubles. There is one full bath and a second half bath. On the basement level there is a room with a double bed, however there is no bathroom on that level and this room is accessed only by going down the outside staircase. There is an outdoor heated shower and a hot tub. We have just recently remodeled the two bedrooms with new flooring and fresh paint and a new TV for the master bedroom.
If you start craving action, we are centrally located between Austin and Marble Falls and only 15 minutes to the Lakeway Hill Country Galleria's restaurants, shops and theaters. Or maybe just open a bottle of wine and hang out on the deck on the porch swing. Or take off down to Krause Spring's famous spring-fed swimming hole a couple minutes a way. Or try some new wines from Stone House Winery, also just a few minutes away. Don't forget to stop at the local roadside stand on the way there and get some home grown tomatoes and picnic goodies!
If you have friends or family or an event in this area, you can't go wrong making this your home base. Send me an email or book online to make a reservation and let me know the nature of your stay and I'll get back with you ASAP.
We live in Austin and like to escape to the Hill Country for a quick getaway for some peace and relaxation.
Vicki or Gerald Lamar purchased this cabin in 2005
We like the peaceful, country laid-back feel out here, the many moods of the weather sitting on the deck overlooking the River below and the decidedly Not City life out here. One of the best springfed swimming holes, Krause Springs is just minutes away or enjoy an afternoon picnic at The Stone House Winery just down the country road. Opie's BarBQ is an easy drive towards Spicewood.
This is a good home base between Lakeway and Marble Falls or a day trip to Fredericksburg or Johnson City or to Austin to visit 6th Street The Live Music Capital of the World or the University of Texas Campus or the LadyBird Wildflower Center.
I had a WONDERFUL time! Your home is very beautiful and peaceful! I would love to stay again sometime!
Thank you for being so accommodating and easy to work with!
Have a great day!!
What a great weekend we had. The view from the deck was amazing! Waking up with a cup of coffee and many hummingbirds at the feeder was the cherry on top. For my 4 days from 40 girl trip this was a great location. We were near some fantastic vineyards.
It's worth noting that the downstairs bedroom would be a great spot for a man. There is not a bathroom located on this level and it would be a dangerous potty trip at night. But a man could make it work... :)
Quaint and clean. Kids loved it! Great open floor plan!
I brought my girlfriend here on a little surprise weekend trip and it was entirely too short. We both absolutely loved the view in the mornings as the sun rose and in the evenings as it set. The only downside is that the recent weather caused a lot of growth and the foot path from the home to the water is blocked. But that's not even really an issue. Recent weather, recent growth, haven't had time to trim. No big deal. Overall we'd like to make a return trip some time and would definitely recommend this to anyone.
We LOVED staying at Vicky's home for our weekend getaway trip. The place was clean and had everything we needed. The views from the porch are the best attraction and make you feel so relaxed and at peace. It's just far enough away from the city and there is a convenient general store about 10 minutes down the road for anything you may have forgotten to bring. The hot tub is clean and working perfectly so that was a plus. We spent a few hours each night fishing off the dock. It is a little cramped and there are planks of wood scattered about making it difficult to access. Once it gets dark LEAVE the dock if you are afraid of spiders (I ran). We caught a few bass, a large catfish and a couple perch. Krause Springs is a pretty nice attraction that is really close (next to the general store) but beware the water is FREEZING. You get used to it after you die lol. It is very beautiful though especially the garden. The welcome booklet has lots of information but just know the prices listed for activities are way out of date so you will need to call to get an accurate price. We will hopefully get to come back sometime and enjoy it all over again.
This house is the perfect location for a weekend getaway. Nestled on the banks of the Pedernales River, you really get to experience the natural beauty of the area. There was a deer on the driveway as we drove up! The views from the spacious deck are beautiful and there is ample, comfortable seating to enjoy it all. The home is close to lots of great local restaurants, a zipline tour, and a winery. You can enjoy all the activities or just spend a lazy day in the hot tub. This home has something for everyone.
My husband and I so enjoyed our stay at the Spicewood house. It is just remote enough from Austin to be quiet and rural in feel, yet close enough to offer lots of options. There are some good restaurants in the area, too. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the few motor boats and jet skis go by. A few hummingbirds visited the feeder, and cardinals had nested in the tree to the side of the porch. We brought lots of groceries and ate in half of the time there. The sunsets are unbeatable.
The house is furnished comfortably, not elegantly, and is incredibly kid and pet friendly. There were lots of board games and a couple for the yard as well. As for me, i enjoyed reading a book on the porch swing or rocking chair.
This property is out in the country in Spicewood,Tx, centrally located between Austin and Marble Falls in the Hill Country on the Pedernales River. Convenient to Spicewood Vineyards and Stonehouse Winery and Krause Springs famous spring-fed swimming Hole. 15 minutes away is Lakeway and The Galleria loaded with restaurants, shopping and theatres.
