The cottage is a wonderful vacation home, or place to stay while visiting family in the area, with 2 bedrooms that would be comfortable for 2 adults & 1 or 2 smaller children or an additional couple. Available for shorter term in the winter off season and weekly throughout the summer. Fully applianced kitchen with cathedral ceilings and skylight, washer/dryer, 1 bath w/shower plus outside hot shower at spacious back deck and grill, private back yard, front porch, Wi-Fi high speed internet , bedroom cabinets, wood floors. The house is furnished with 1 queen & 1 full size bed and all kitchen utensils. Several swimming areas and small boat launch very close by. Golf course is 5 minutes down the road. Quiet and private neighborhood, about 10 minute bicycle ride to town center, plenty of off street parking. Located at East Shore Rd. and Decatur Ave. This is a great place as a quieter alternative to a busier town but with very quick access to those types of areas. Jamestown's a great place for bicycle riding, boating, beaching / swimming, walking, fishing, golfing or doing nothing. Quality restaurants, coffee shops and parks create a genuine village feeling at the town center. An easy 10 minute ride to Newport over the bridge for a day in the city by the sea or take the passenger ferry (bring your bicycle) to Newport and direct ferry to the folk / jazz fesitavls. This isn't rustic, some may say it's quaint or cozy, but I call it a small, simply beautiful island cottage that can make your summer a truly enjoyable one to remember. Bring your bicycles, kayak, surfboards / windsurfers, golf clubs, books, fishing gear or yard games. We have the grill and deck furniture.
This is a non smoking property. Pets not permitted.
Marty grew up in Newport and then moved to Jamestown to raise his family. After 20 years he now lives with his wife,Martha, in Newport. They enjoy their grandsons, the local beaches (especially surfing), traveling and hosting their cottage guests.
Marty Casey purchased this cottage in 2002
The cottage was renovated in 2002 / 2003 including mechanical systems all interior, windows, cabinetry and exterior areas. The cottage is featured in a book published by a local historian.
The cottage is set close to water front access areas and other family style activities. For those that want nightlife ...you can be in Newport in 7 minutes! Close to the town center and great restaurants. All the amentities of an apartment or condo but you have the privacy of your own house. A quiet neighbor hood with only a few houses nearby.
We stayed here for a week and loved it. We used it as a base for day trips to Connecticut, Massachusetts and of course, Newport. It is very, very clean. The kitchen is fully equipped, and although we did not do so, you could easily cook a large meal. It is very quiet and peaceful. The village offers some wonderful restaurants. We had the opportunity to meet Marty. He is terrific! We would love to come back and stay here again. This is a cozy place with lots of charm.
This little cottage is absolutely perfect!!!! We had everything we needed and so close to Newport and many other
areas. WE really enjoyed it for the week and would highly recommend it to all.
Thanks Marty for having such a great place!!!! We'd love to do it again soon...
My wife and I just finished our second stay at this cottage. The place is very functional and a great place to hang out and relax while being convenient to the center of Jamestown and Newport and all this area has to offer. We highly recommend staying here. The owner is very responsive and interested in making your stay comfortable. The cottage is perfectly sized for one or two couples or a couple with small children.
This was a wonderful cottage with a wonderful owner. Everything went perfectly, from arrival to departure. The accommodations were perfect for me, my husband and our two children and communication from the owner was excellent. The house was quite lovely and very well equipped. It was a lovely quiet area too and the kids even enjoyed playing outside with the fireflies in the evenings! Such a nice place to relax for the week.
A special thanks to the owner for being so understanding when my husband's boss wouldn't let us leave on time. We know exactly where we will stay and where we will recommend others stay when in the Jamestown area!
My husband and I took this cottage for three weeks and were so very content there! Well appointed furniture; household set up well; clean; plenty of drawer storage. Marty was very helpful. Our favorites: outside shower, front porch, wooded side and back yard. Made us feel private, relaxed. Good location and not too busy of a street with easy access. Easy shopping in town for supplies. Our stay could not have been more perfect and we will return!
We loved staying at this darling little house. It was perfect for our ladies trip to the area. The two Moms each shared a bedroom with their grown daughter. We had breakfast and evening happy hours in and found the kitchen well stocked with what we needed. We also enjoyed the lovely evenings on the porch. We highly recommend staying! Jamestown was very charming!
The island of Jamestown is situated with ocean frontage and frontage on Narragansett Bay...one of the best bays on the east coast for boating, swimming, fishing and any water activities. The island is 2 miles across the bay from historic Newport - easily traveled to via New England's largest suspension bridge. Farm land, numerous water access areas and beaches, fine restaurants, several state parks, golf course, marinas and coffee shops make Jamestown a wonderful vacation spot.
