|Property type||chateau / country house|
This is the nicest private property in the area!
We built our house in Monteverde with the goal of owing a second home that we could share with friends and family while relaxing in a beautiful garden in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful places.
The spacious cottage is fully equipped; has a great room with tall wood ceilings, a complete kitchen, dining table, and living room area that opens to a large window overlooking the forest.
The house was built following the local rustic architecture but it has been our vision and goal to have a cozy and unique house were one can relax after a long day hiking .
In addition to the house, we have built a wonderful private garden where you can see a large variety of birds and animals.
We welcome you to stay here to taste nature at it's best.
Our family is originally from San Jose. For several years, we visited Monteverde and dreamed with having our own piece of heaven in the Costa Rican Cloud Forest. In 2007, we bought this property and in 2008 we built our first cabin. We now have 4 cabins/cottages in the property.
Andres Wiernik purchased this chateau / country house in 2007
We have almost one hectare (aprox 2.47 acres) of garden.
Our house has several features that distinguish this property from any other in the Monteverde area. We built our cottage for our personal use following traditional local architecture. This is an example of ecoturism at it's best. The property is located within walking distance of several restaurants, coffee shops, museums and the local cheese factory. We are located 5 minutes away from the main town (Santa Elena) where you can find a large variety of restaurants, gas station, banks, etc. We are also located 5 mins away from the Monteverde Cloud Forest National Park.
- Access to our private garden
- Bedrooms and bathrooms are cleaned every day with exception of Sundays and holidays (no extra fee).
- With advance notice, we can arrange all your tours while in the Monteverde area.
- We can help you with your travel arrangements in other locations of Costa Rica if necessary.
- We work closely with a rent a car agency in case you would like to rent a car while in Costa Rica.
- We offer wifi internet access
We rented Cabin 1 for 3 nights and our party of 7 (4 adults and 3 kids) were very comfortable. The property is beautiful and convenient to town and the attractions. The owners were super helpful prior to our trip and during our stay. They were there to help with anything we needed and truly wanted to make sure we enjoyed our limited time in CR. It was windy while we were there and that made it a bit loud at night, but the cabin is nicely appointed and secure. We saw many birds on the property and had a fabulous day touring the cloud forest with Roy. He is not to be missed. We also did the zip lines at Selvatura, which were pretty impressive if you like adventure.
Do not know where to begin. Prior to our trip, the owner was so helpful in planning our time in Monteverde and throughout Costa Rica. Then there was the first look in the gate at an enchanted forest! The cabins were delightful, the food was delicious, and the caring staff was so appreciated. We had such a good time touring the nearby Cloud Forest. We learned so much from Roy, our guide for the morning. Dinners in town were delicious and everyone was so kind. Recommend this location!
Our group of eith had the pleasure of renting two of the cabins at Yerba buena last week. Actually, cabin is a but of a misnomer, as the buildings are well made and so nicely furnished, there is no"roughing it" comparison. The grounds are lovely, and truly provide a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle just outside.
Our experience , from booking to arrival was very smooth. Andres provided so much helpful information and directions that our hardest decisions were choosing what to do. Their recommendations for tours, guides and restaurants were spot on. We chose to have breakfast prepared, and these were of good quality and quantity.
I would definitely recommend this property .
Our family of 4 rented the 3 bedroom cabin and had a wonderful stay. The hosts provided advice on travel, tours, and helped us book reservations for tours and dining. The cabin, located on beautifully landscaped grounds, provides a relaxing setting complete with two decks and outdoor seating. The grounds are very secure, quiet and private. The hosts went the extra mile procured a few groceries prior to our arrival so we could eat in after a day of travel. A good coffee house/bakery and italian restaurant are within walking distance. The cabins were tastefully decorated and included rocking chairs and natural wood coffee tables. The beds were comfortable and had electric blankets. One highlight was our Monteverde Cloud Forest tour guide sourced by the hosts, who spotted more plants and animals than any other guide. We would stay a month if I could.
We stayed at Yerba Buena for a month in January/February and it was a perfect place. Our very comfortable 2 bedroom, 2 bath cabin gave us space to stretch out, cook meals and a great queen bed complete with an electric blanket in case the evenings got chilly. Our hosts couldn't have been more accommodating and welcoming. From arranging our dinner reservations the first night, driving us into town for a big grocery shop, to arranging tours and guides, they went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The grounds are beautiful, affording an oasis off the streets of Monte Verde to stroll, picnic and watch the exotic birds. We did not have a car and at first wondered if we were too far from town but with three excellent restaurants within a 5 minute walk - Tramonte, Stella's Bakery and Cabure- plus a small grocery store and coffee bar we never felt isolated or in lack of something. Did I forget to mention easy walking distance to two private reserves and the cheese/ice cream factory? The location provided access to the town of St. Elena, CPI Language Institute and the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and a host of activities whether you want to zipline through the treetops, see the elusive Quetzal (we saw them twice!), grab a chai tea latte or hike through beautiful rain forest trails. We would highly recommend Yerba Buena whether you are a couple or a large family or group - the grounds can accommodate either scenario. So much nicer than being cooped up in a small hotel room especially if you are planning to stay for a couple of days. We will be back- this time we are thinking of bringing our entire extended family.
We stayed at Yerba Buena with our 3 daughters and their families: a party of 14 from ages 7 to 80 and had an unforgettable visit. The accommodations served everyone's desires from wonderful space for ultimate frisbee to comfortable corners to curl up with a book.
The proprietors helped us hire a cook for our dinners, and an evening at the neighboring Italian Tramonti restaurant was terrific. Grocery shopping was convenient for preparing meals. They also helped arrange for an 18 passenger van that took us from the San Jose airport to Yerba Buena, and later from Yerba Buena to the beach.
The adventures from Yerba Buena were extraordinary: Zip lines and Tarzan swings like none we had ever imagined; walks into the jungle at night and during the day with a wonderful guide introducing us to the marvels of the cloud forest environment - huge tarantulas, sloths, fascinating snakes and innumerable surprises. We went to a lecture at the Monteverde Institute and learned a lot about the history and background of Monteverde and the Cloud Forest. The hosts Regina and Saul were wonderful looking after our needs and desires.
We look forward to returning one day to Monte Verde and definitely staying again at Yerba Buena
Set atop the spine of Costa Rica’s continental divide, Monteverde is a world above the coastal towns that dot the country's famous shoreline. It is a place of cloud forests and coffee plantations, monkeys, mist, and friendly locals.
Due to its high altitude – some 4,662 ft (1,440 m) above sea level – Monteverde is privileged to receive a steady supply of clouds and the life-giving moisture that they contain. This moisture, often in the form of fog, catches on the branches of the tallest trees and drips down to the other organisms below. This helps to support a complex and far-reaching ecosystem, one that harbors over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, tens of thousands of insect species, and over 2,500 varieties of plants, 420 of which are orchids alone.
Visitors can explore this internationally recognized environment from trails and trams, along canopy tours or inside museums.
We welcome you to our property and advice you to plan on spending at least a few days to adventure through this verdant and mountainous world. PURA VIDA!
