About The Owner

We have lived on the Olympic Peninsula since 1959 with time spent in Alaska and in Nevada and Oregon during that time frame. We have been in the construction business and the massage business most of the last 25 years. Our 4 children grew up on the peninsula but their jobs and family have taken them to other destinations. We grew up in Connecticut but have made the west coast our home. We love the climate, and the great outdoors.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 1998

Why The Owner chose Olympic Peninsula

We had been looking for a piece of acreage near town as my massage business is in my home . We had wanted to have a little space between neighbors, to garden and perhaps have an animal or two. When we found this 5 acre piece with this fabulous view we decided we could fix up the older home and redo the guest house to our liking. We love it.

What makes this cabin unique

Everything we need is close and easily accessable. From grocery shopping to medical attention. It is easy to find . We have the state land to the south of us, so our privacy is secure. We are on the back of the property so we have the quiet and the wonderful view of the valley as well as the straits of Juan de Fuca to the north. A really peaceful setting to enjoy year round.

Pretty views

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is to the back of the property with a large pasture with horses and wildflowers in the front of it. It's not far from the main road, Hwy 101, in between Sequim and Port Angeles. It is easy access to Port Townsend, Olympia National Park, the Black Ball ferry to Victoria, BC. Every day, we would come home to the pasture filled with wildflowers and two beautiful Paint horses, and occasionally a deer, and tons of birds. The house itself is very clean, and well stocked with kitchenware, a washer and dryer. There is a fold out couch in the living room. There is a nice porch with chairs and a table. I would not recommend this rental for families with toddlers or adventurous small children, though, because there is an electric fence around the pasture, about 25 yards from the cabin, and also there is a flowing stream along the back of the property.

Owner's Response: I really appreciate your review of our property .We have had many families with small children stay and enjoy the fact that they can be outdoors with supervision and experience the wild life that is available around the property. We do caution everyone about the electric fence and the irrigation ditch that are on the property, for their safety and that of the animals. It is a pleasure to see everyone having a good time here at Hillside haven.

It's a pretty nice clean place

  • 3 of 5

Nice and clean, cozy, owners are very kind and considerate.

I feel like the living room needs a coffee table.

I feel like the kitchen could have some more stuff like a potato peeler and better organization, the BBQ needs something to protect the propane tank from letting any kind of embers falling on top of the propane tank or it's rubber hose. I think it would be really great to have some TV. The channels that were on the rabbit ears was ok for me because they were playing John Wayne and Rifleman and it was just back ground noise, maybe a guest would like to watch hbo, show time or something similar.

The owner is kind and gracious, the place is nice, clean and spacious; it's quiet and peaceful . Over all we really enjoyed staying there.

Great place to stay while I was in town on work

  • 5 of 5

This little place worked great for me. I was in town on work business for a few months and it was like a home away from home.

Map

Wonderful wild life here at the guest house and spectacular views to enjoy after sight seeing and experiencing the great outdoors here on the peninsula. The game farm is world renown, golfing , hiking , fishing ,beachcombing , skiing in the winter and water sports in the summer to name a few of the varied sports available. The lavender festival in July or the Irrigation Festival in May or something to behold.
