I was looking for a plece of rest and relaxation and visited Duncans Bay for the first time in 1992.The tranquility, proximity to the beach, the sound of the sea from my bedroom, and the nature walks made it the perfect place to get away from the stress and strin of every day work. I bought the villa in 1993 and it's as been my home away from home ever since.
There are a combination of factors create the atmosphere at Duncans Bay : the fisherman with the daily fresh catch of fish, lobster, and crabs. The area abounds with talented Jamaica artists doing their wood carvings in the nearby craft shop: Desmond - the wicker worker who made my dining chairs. Nelson Fisher - the talented painter, a native son of the trelawny, who does landscapes and still - life acrylic painting. Several pieces of his work are hanging on the wall in the villa.
The peacefulness which allow me to stay on the beach or my front lawn and read a book all day makes it the perfect getaway for me.
My wife and I came to get married on the beach in Jamaica and stayed at the Palm Villa.
We had an amazing time.
The villa was always kept clean and Ms. Jennifer made our stay delightful.
We awoke to a great breakfast every morning and came home to a scrumptious dinner every night.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience.
The villa is very clean and well stocked. Truly a home away from home. The garden was beautiful with many varieties of flowers and trees. We enjoyed relaxing in the swing under the almond tree and dancing to the reggae beat in the yard. The beach is just down the road, with stunning white sand. We walked for miles of shoreline without a soul in site. Jennifer was like one of the family. We shopped at the market and she watched our pocketbook. Very relaxing vacation. We will definitely return. See you next year Duncan's Bay!
The villa was exactlty what we expected. It was nice, clean and quiet. The beach is a few steps away from the villa, the beach is beautiful and very private. The place is perfect for people who want to relax and enjoy the beach.
Jennifer, our host, was like a second mother for all of us. She took care of us and make sure we were happy with our stay. Our 3 girls (20, 18, 16 years old) absolutely loved her! She cooked really well and she made sure to cook things we liked, which was nice. She is defintely the heart and soul of Palmvilla. Thanks again Jennifer.
It is true that Palm Villa is the place to be, if you like true relaxation and a good taste of Jamaican life. Ms Jennifer will help you with that and other people in Silver Sands and the fisher village are very friendly. The villa is very clean with a beautiful garden.
If you are reading this review and are looking for a none resort Jamaican experience do yourself the favor of booking Palm Villa. Ms. Jennifer is everything you have read about. Host, ambassador, cook, friend. She will make your time under her care a relaxing and delightful experience. She far exceeded my expectations. I believe that nothing is beyond her and the contact list in her phone. The people she has entrusted to share Jamaica with her guests are all exceptional. All love their country and are delighted to share a Jamaica that is off the beaten path.
We ate Jamaican dishes, prepared by Ms. Jennifer, that make me long for one more bite. We enjoyed a beautiful, uncrowded, beach. 300 yards from our door. We ate fresh everything. Fruit and vegetables that arrive daily, to fish we watched being cleaned in the fishing village a short stroll down the beach. We were allowed to be carefree for ten days. It was like being a kid again. We only had to play, and come back to food on the table. We had but to ask and Jennifer made it so.
Palm Villa is a labor of love. Comfortable, clean, safe, a place I think of as a second home. I can't wait to once again hug Ms. Jennifer and relax in the best place Jamaica has to offer.
We loved our vacation at Palm Villa. The villa is ideally situated in a safe, quiet neighbourhood and the house is comfortable, clean and spacious with a beautiful garden. In the garden, there are plenty of lounging chairs to unwind in and read a book or just admire the flowers, fruits and butterflies. The fantastic Silver Sands public beach (which during our stay in December never had more than a dozen people on its 1 km stretch) is one minute walk from your front door. Jennifer is your able hostess and she welcomes you with a friendly smile, pampers you with her exceptional hospitality and the food she prepares is cooked to perfection. We spent a relaxing vacation mostly in the garden and at the beach, and we joined Mr. Mason for an afternoon tour through Falmouth and the local Trelawny area. There are endless other sightseeing opportunities which Jennifer will gladly help you to arrange if you wish. Our stay at Palm Villa was superb and we recommend the property to you without hesitation.
I feel as if we met another family member down in Jamaica. Ms. Jennifer treated us like family. Her cooking spoiled us beyond words. Unless you are far away then you will never want to eat anywhere else. Our kids (ages 6 and 8) loved her. Our son pointed out the obvious - her cooking was way better than mine, and I could not agree more. We went for a wedding and the majority of the guests stayed in the fancy Silver Sands Resort but many of our friends agreed that the Palm Villa was the best value considering the location to the beach, the food prepared by Ms. Jennifer and the overall more authentic Jamaican experience. Ms. Jennifer even prepared an exquisite last night dinner and invited some of the local friends we made - it felt like celebrating with family. We greatly miss Ms. Jennifer and "Brown Girl" as she is affectionately called by her family. Thank you for going above and beyond everyday to make our stay so wonderful. I carefully reviewed plenty of other villas in Duncans Bay and in Silver Sands and I could not have been happier at the choice we made.
