The lounge and all the bedrooms are air-conditioned and a washing machine has been installed in one of the two bathrooms in the villa. A Second Slice of Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a brilliant time last year at one of Jocelyne's Villas, we just had to come back!

The Villas are spotlessly clean and are equiped with everything you could possibly need. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves whether just sunbathing, or eating long leisurely lunches on the veranda.

Jocelyne was again the perfect host, with treats of Greek Coffee and homemade peach drinks.

I'm sure we will return again sometime!

Thanks again Jocelyne

Relaxing location, great views, fantastic host

  • 5 of 5

Our family (3 adults and 2 children) had a wonderful stay at Villa Eleftheria in August 2010. The village of Pendamodi is charming and the views (over mountains, olive groves, and vineyards) were fantastic -- we took many photos at different times of day as the light kept changing from sunrise to sunset. Our kids (13 and 10) loved the pool; it was great to cool off in after a hot day of sight-seeing.

The villa was spacious with an ideal floor plan for a family group, and it was great to sit out on the covered deck. Even though it was hot, we never needed to use the air-conditioning because the villa caught so many cool breezes. Next door was a small farm with grapes, chickens and horses (you could hear the rooster crowing and horses neighing during the day, but they were quiet at night). The other two villas and the smaller studio in the complex are also near, but they are laid out such that you have an unobstructed view from the deck and pool area.

What really made our stay special was Jocelyne, the owner. She was staying nearby in one of the other houses and she was always bringing us local treats (wine, olive oil, eggs) and offering her help (helping us rent a car and get ferry tickets, recommending places to go, loaning beach equipment, letting us use her laptop and internet connection to make travel arrangements, etc.).

You will need a rental car to explore the area, shop for groceries, and go out to eat. Pendamodi has a couple of cafes and small shops for essentials, but to get groceries for a few days you'll want to go to Heraklion, about 20 minutes away. We also used our car to visit nearby villages, the beach, and Knossos.

Angel, Monfra, Paloma, Esther y Amelia

Max relax with gorgeous view and all the comfort

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 5 with three kids primary school. We stayed in this villa beginning of August. It has all the amenities you need and is located in the kind of little village you read in your guide: two streets, two cafes, one small grocery shop, beautiful church...

The owner Jocelyne was around and she is very considerate to make sure our stay was as perfect as possible.

A short drive towards Heraklion and from there you get to all the relevant sites: Knossos very near. We highly recommend this place for a relaxing vacation.

what a stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We loved the location, the views, the villa, the open space, the locals, the village, the food, the grapes, the wine, the raki, the surrounding area, the distances to sites like Knossos, the south and north coast, the distance from the airport, the size of the pool, the facilities in the villa, the friendly owner.....and everything else I have forgotten..We already booked for 2010 and many more years as this location looks to remain untouched by mass tourism and the view will remain the same as no one can built in front...

Heraklion west
Car: necessary

Nestling in the foothills of the island's central mountain range, the village of Pendamodi may only lie 15km south of Heraklion, but its sleepy atmosphere could not be further from the hustle and bustle of Crete's busy capital. All around is a bucolic landscape with silvery green olive groves and lovingly tended fields, mainly devoted to the region's famous grapes. The local area provides ample opportunity for walkers to explore the verdant landscape and timeless villages of the heartland of Crete or alternatively visitors can enjoy the surrounding countryside on horseback. Heraklion and the sandy beaches of the north coast are only a short drive away, as are all the major archaeological sites and the relatively unexplored central south coast with its unspoilt beaches is just a little further. Some of the islands most popular resorts lie just to the east of Heraklion as does a large water park and its neighbouring golf course offering a little variety for all tastes.
